Melanie - your vids are just outstanding. Really the best info on moving to Florida (and so on target) that I've ever run across. Thank you so much for the info.
If a person always rent apartment never own a house before, now he wants to buy a new house, would you list all the items that he need to ask the builder such as : What kind of roof attachment, hurricane shutter, impact window, ...... what else ? so he can get the low house insurance.
How does rebuilding older house affect insurance? For insurance if original home of 1983 rebuilt in 2019? Is the the foundation and ground infrastructure age a factor?
I live in Detroit, MI and my insurance for 2 cars (Lexus LS 460 and Corvette Grand Sport) is roughly $6200/yr. Full coverage. I’m 35. If Tampa is cheaper I have nothin to even fret about since I’m plannin on movin in 8 months.
Hi L Spence! Insurers can give great options to alleviate some of your premium such as deductible amounts for collision and comprehensive coverages. A great insurance agent will explain your coverages in Florida since every state is different and the best options to fit your needs! Best of luck with your move to Florida!
I was told 15 year old roof and you can't get a roof insured, but another realtor said that wasn't true. Keep shopping insurance companies or have the roof excluded. 100 year old metal roofs or tile roofs on historic homes don't be to be replaced and shouldn't be if they are intact.
Thanks, Melanie and Maria. Great information presented in a very understandable way! But now I’m thinking we should rethink this whole idea of moving to Florida 😜
This is crazy. Insurance is very high in these areas. I am in PA and I pay less than $800 per year. To pay $2500 to $500 a year for insurance is crazy. This may deter my wife and I from buying a home when we move there.
Local insurance agents can tell you which builders are top notch based on their construction standards and claims history. I've assisted many buyers with new construction. Local insurers are impressed with M/I Homes and they're amazing during the final walk through inspection. Some builders may have complaints... always do your due diligence and look for ratings of past buyers. Ask your insurance agent too!
Ha, I just learned because I had a claim that my homeowner's insurance dropped my policy and I have been searching for 2 days and it's been difficult because I had a claim so to me insurance is a scam because in ALL the years I paid for insurance they where happy ONE claim and I get dropped.
Tampa Bay is still an affordable place to live. We have homes for all budgets and there are many suburbs outside of Tampa with highly rated public schools (if needed) and centrally located to large employers. A great Realtor can help you navigate that. : )
theres no way everyday normal people can afford home insurance life insurance mortage car payment utilies food doctors etc .then ontop of that you have to save money for a roof thats insured or fire insurance then you have to come out of pocket for a deductable thats crazy and depressing.
Hi Rebecca. Totally understand your frustration. I great lender, in conjunction with a financial advisor, can assist in getting you on track and set up a budget to get you on the road to home ownership and owning a piece of the pie. Best wishes!
Totally possible. Follow Dave Ramsey. Don’t get into debt. Invest and make the compound interest instead of giving it to the rich bankers. Seriously though, look up his YT channel. Follow the baby steps. Proven financial plan. He changed my family’s lives!
This information may need to be updated . Home owners insurance in Florida changing. Rate increases of 25 to 33 % as of June 2021. Also some insurance companies are pulling out . Do your own homework.

Wow, really valuable video! I'll need to watch it at least twice to really absorb the info on house and flood insurance.

I didn’t understand the part about the storm chasers. What is their end goal? Are they helping or trying to make you sign something to get you stuck?
The dog is soaking all this knowledge in while she speaks in the beginning lol

Very informative. Thank you!
Question: bugs? We hear bugs everywhere. What’s your experience on that?
This is great! As soon as I’m ready to move to Florida I hope I can work with you to find our perfect home! 😁
Oklahoma actually has the highest priced homeowners insurance in the country :D
SO MUCH great information. Thank you so much.

Yes definitely! I am finishing up my new home studio and will be filming new episodes very soon! Thank you for the request 😊
Melanie What about sinkhole insurance and what about a spray foam attic ?

Excellent video! Tampa, see you soon. ❤
Hello
Make a video about apartment condo insurance in Orlando ,FL
Prices $100.000 to $200.000 apartments.
This is crazy. Insurance is very high in these areas. I am in PA and I pay less than $800 per year. To pay $2500 to $500 a year for insurance is crazy. This may deter my wife and I from buying a home when we move there.
Basically the money you save on State Tax you will pay in insurance, so it is a break even.
Hi Melanie, can you do a separate video to guide on pros and cons of buying a condo vs single family, and looking it from Insurance aspect too ..
Awesome video. Lots of great information with explanation. Appreciate you both taking the time to inform us Florida wannabes. ❤️
This was a really great video. I'm planning of visiting Tampa to see some friends and would like to talk to you. Is it possible?
Great video! Very informative-answered just about every question I had about insurance in Florida!
Excellent information! Thank you both so much!

Thank you Melanie and Maria! Very helpful
this video is gold. Thanks!
very informative, thank you for sharing the information!
Very informative but this makes me fearful to move to Tampa Bay. Seems awfully expensive unless you rent.

This makes me fearful to move to tampa because it sounds like hurricanes happen every other weekend
I thought tampa had beautiful weather
amazing info
Very helpful
Mel Love your vids! Care to take a stab at the effects of covid 19 and other ecominc events on the Florida real estate market?

Here is what you need to know another Florida car insurance, it’s extremely high
Insurance companies and policies are crooked and greedy. They want your money but do not want to pay out.
Maria I’m going to call you to talk to you in Spanish.. I know you're going to give me a better deal on my house insurance 😅 verdad ?
👍
Great information, thanks for sharing.
