- I used to have pretty intense anxiety when it came to using public restrooms before phalloplasty. One of my main reasons of getting phalloplasty was to be able to pee standing and use a urinal. I thought I would discuss how using the restroom differs now vs. pre-op and if my anxiety has been relieved.

I also have bathroom anxiety...I hate when I walk in and its empty and then as soon as I sit do ma bidness someone walks in...and goes up to the urinal...and then theres DA SILENCE
lol!! THE SILENCE is the worst.
I've seen plenty of guys go for the stall over the urinal just to pee.
I find it really awesome that you are sharing your experiences, even tho I never plan on getting bottom surgery it’s still cool to see other people become their truest self.

One of my biggest peeves is a salesman who refuses to listen!! Way to go facing your fears, it takes so much energy just to do that!
Don't worry guys. From what I noticed guys don't give a fuck when u get in the bathroom. Usually girls analyze u head to toe up and down.
I don't know that girls analyze people head to toe , but you are right, guys usually really don't care lol

Bathroom tip: doing math activates the same part of your brain as going pee does! For me, I do some simple times tables: 2x2-4,4x2-8,8x2-16,16x2-32..... and it usually helps/makes me pee quickly. Try it out!

For the gym, I know sales people are annoying but you've got to understand that the point of the guest pass is to "try before you buy". Even if you have no intention of joining, just play it off so it doesn't seem like you're just using them/the facility, even if that's the case. They are a business after all.
Yea but from the beginning I told them I just wanted to workout because I am from out of town. I didn't want to waste either of our times getting more info about memberships but they still tried. I would of even just paid a fee to use the gym for the day. I was trying to let them know I wasn't interested so I didn't have to just "use" them at all lol

how much do you leak now? i find that i have to wipe and milk for a bit after peeing so i still don’t use a urinal
also my favorite is peeing with a backpack on... idk why but it feels so liberating just to be fully clothed with a backpack and pee haha it’s great
I don't leak as much now, although I do still have to milk it a bit.. but haven't been able to because of my stricture repair. I have to do it gently... not pulling lol
wow, I've never had to see someone whip it out before even at the urinal, that's crazy!
I can relate somewhat with the gym experience, they can be pushy with sales, but I didn't have that experience of them having an attitude and eye rolling...that sucks...

I always sing the same song/tune in my head every time i go to the bathroom. I do it only at home where i'm completely relaxed for the first couple weeks (make it a habit). After a couple weeks start sing the tune in your head at public rest rooms. Someone told me this years ago and it does help. pick a tune that you would not hear on the radio or anywhere cause you will instantly feel like you need to pee.
haha I usually sing "I've got a river of life flowing out of me." sometimes it works! lol
You might be surprised at the number of cis guys who get pee shy at urinals too. If I have the option, I’ll always go for a cubicle over a urinal, especially if they’re close together or busy. Sometimes if there’s no cubicle option, I’ll just leave and hold it.
yeaa if the urinals at least have a divider between them that is a lot better.. but I hate the ones that are so close together!

I always put earbuds in and turn up the volume as much as I can bear. Then I either wear a hoodie and put the hood up like horse blinders lol or put shades on and close my eyes until I can go.

Awwee. Don’t worry you’ll get used to it, being cis trust no ones looking and no one cares unless they really are curious to see. If you feel awkward it’ll look awkward to other guys so work on that confidence. Anxiety is so weird to me, I don’t have it but I hear it soooooooooo much it drives me crazy, I’m trying to understand.
I never really understood why there's a difference in bathrooms for men and women? Stalls vs urinals -privacy vs trough? *Argh*
I just don't get it! I guess I assume most humans appreciate privacy while peeing OR pooping. :) lol

I’m ftm & i use the men’s bathroom at my school no problem, bc regardless of me being 5’2 i pass fairly well. I use the urinal w my sam stp but public bathrooms w no dividers make me uncomfortable
You could have just done the membership online did it online went to the gym signed the paper at the front desk showed Id and that was it.

I know this is over 2 years since you posted and hopefully you do not feel that way any more. However, no FTM guy should feel anxiety while standing at a urinal. As a cisgender man, I have a a shy bladder and if it is not completely full, I wait my turn and go to a private stall. On the other hand, most cisgender guys are not checking what others are doing standing in front of a urinal. Each one minds his own business and believe me, there are guys with smaller penises than FTMs.

I'm 14 transgender male and I'm also gay. Last year I didn't use the restroom at school because I didn't know what one to use cuz there's another trans kid in my school MTF. She is forced to use the men's restroom because she was born a he. That's why I didn't use the restroom last year.

Try going to the bathroom before u go out, so u don't have anxiety. Bathrooms shouldn't take over ur life

Cody_talks honestly though I'm not sure, I started to socially transition by going by Jake at an army Base I started going to yesterday and felt like shit last night with doubt and no dysphoria and all that. it's happened before but after I slowly got back to a trans mind set and thought I'd taken a step to fast but now I don't know anyone had similar experiences.
