- I noticed this overgrown property as I was driving by and so I decided to stop and take a look. I noticed the neighbour of this property was out front smoking and before knocking on the door I asked the neighbour if he knew if anyone was currently living in the property and he advised that he didn’t know. So I walked over and knocked on the door, unfortunately to no answer. I did a quick scan of the property and peeked over the fence from the side pathway to see the state of the backyard. As I walked over to get back into my ute, the neighbour approached me very aggressively and started screaming at me asking what I was doing and why was I looking around the property. I tried to explain to him that I just wanted to see if the people living in the property would like my help with their lawn but he was very irate. He continued screaming and was coming at me very aggressively. I apologised and kept trying to explain to him but he wouldn’t hear a word I was saying, so I just jumped into my ute and drove off. Looking back at it from a different perspective, he simply was a neighbour looking out for the people living in the property I was looking at. I’m someone he hasn’t seen before, looking around someone else’s property while no one was home so I can definitely understand how that must have looked to him. I do not condone violence in any way, shape or form but I do applaud him for being a good neighbour and looking out.
I came back to this property a few days later, knocked on the door and again no answer. The other neighbour happen to be outside and so I asked if he knew if anyone was living there and if he knew them in which he advised that he did. I explained to him what I do and that I was wanting to see if the people living in the property would like my help and he was very nice and said that he would love it if I did help them and offered to take my card and pass it along to them when they got home.
Few days later I received a text message from the residents living in the property and they gladly accepted my help.

Remember it's our responsibility as drivers to be on the lookout for pedestrians who are either walking or doing lawn Care maintenance. In return we hope that pedestrians will be careful around sidewalks and streets. Your bright yellow shirt is very visible. If you look you might find some that are brighter. I have this ‘thing’ about hairy curbs! They drive me crazy!! And with all that grass growing in the street, that keeps water from flowing to the storm drain.

Not only did you change those people's lives, but you also improved visibility on the street, thereby making it safer. The difference is a wonderful gift to the entire neighborhood. Yelling neighbor or no yelling neighbor, you got it done without letting negativity get you down. In fact, you were much more understanding at being yelled at. I could have taken it maybe even understood it, (at first), but when it reached the point of not being listened to......well you are a much better man then I Gunga Din. Excellent job and you did have a mell of a hess, ( as the sayig around here goes). To start with. Kudos to you, and I hope the owners can get what I think I saw as two walk behind/push mowers, to work for them. 10 our of 10 on this job.

Thank you for doing this for the ones that can't. I'm 75 female, I take care of my yard. I only have a half acre so pretty basic, love doing it but there will come a time when I can't. I hope there is an ANGEL like you if I needed. Your work is the best. One thing I must say is your trimmer is magnificent haa. So powerful. I use a battery one, its lighter and works fine for me. Again great job

Wow! What a transformation! Bet the street no longer floods since gutters & drain are now clear. Corner lots are a lot to maintain, but make a big impression on the rest of the neighborhood. Great job!

Wonderful job Steve, just a quick tip, I have a shoot cover that I can’t raise either so I drilled a hole in the edge of it and put a bungee cord on it and now I can binge it off to the mower without having to remove it
Hopefully the neighbor also learned something about "humans."

Great work! In New Zealand where I'm from, the grass berm/verge is local authority property. Residents are encouraged to keep it tidy but if we don't, the authority will come by from time to time and tidy it up. If you do this sort of thing for free you could ask if you could put a small sign on their front lawn for a couple of weeks advertising your business...
