Can relate in my past about rust issues. I was lucky in April this year. Got my original owner, never painted 85,000 mile 2003 Avy and love it. So thankful that the underneath is clean and nice. I echo your sentiments about the versatility, i don't know what i'll do when i go to replace it eventually.

Ah good find! I have high hopes that my next truck won’t have any rust. Glad I’m not the only one who thinks so about versatility. It’s a shame they’ve been dropped

be nice to find a rear right door the same color as the truck ,just keep that truck and keep it going

Yea I think that’s the route I want to go. Keeping my eyes peeled for a door the same color but they’re hard to come by here

Ahhh. The never ending rust war. Lol. I like seeing the avalanche in the intro. I got power stop brakes for my XJ disc conversion but never got around to doing it 😂

You’re the first to say anything about noticing the avalanche in the intro! Hahaha that’s a bummer. I have a ton of things laying around I never got to doing. Hopefully that’ll change this year!

I did the biggest Powerstops they make. huge improvement on the truck. my tires are 38.5X15.5 Toyo Open country MT and are heavy as hell. Hope you get the rust taken care of and the door. I like your truck!

Go to Walmart get the truck bed liner that you roll on with 3" roller for the plastic.
I got it done 3 years ago and still looks black .

I cannot find a black grille for the body cladding version and have no clue what badges fit on it. Can you help me with this?

Unfortunately I’m not sure. Your best bet would probably be trying to find someone parting an avalanche out similar to yours or check your nearby salvage yards if online searches aren’t any help. Good luck!

How were your rpms while towing? With the 4:10s and 35s? I’m thinking of doing the same setup to mine. I currently have 3:73s

Didn’t pay too close attention to that when I was towing but I stayed around 60 and wasn’t pushing it. Did just fine

Your plastic on your Avalanche all you need to do is torch it but don't hold the torch in one spot too long. I did it with my 05' Avalanche and the plastic looks like brand new now

That’s great it worked well for you! I’ve heard a lot of people say it looks great at first but ends up tiger striping so I haven’t pulled the trigger on that one yet. You’ll have to comment back after a while to update how it’s holding up for you

@@jtmoffroad DONT TORCH IT. It will ruin the pores on the plastic and will turn it white. Your options are to use a restorer every couple weeks or sand them and bedline or paint them. - Fellow avalanche owner

      Or a heat gun

I used a heat gun on my 2012 Avy and the plastic looks like new now. It took a bit of time, but I think the lower temp works better than torching it.

That’s awesome what you have now has lasted so long! I need to not be lazy and go more south to pick trucks out now. Everything up here is too rusted out

Yea she is a 1998 gmc almost 263000 miles but because she is for North Carolina and I undercoat the hole truck every year she still looks ok the roof is faded and gas no clear coat that the southern heat and sun but from 50 feet she looks good but underneath she looks better then most newer truck and you can find some of these older ones down there in nice shape fairly cheap I have had her for almost 5 years now only paid 4000 when I got her which was 1500 less then book at the time
