  • How to remove the clutch master cylinder on the VW Scirocco.
    This is my first Clutch master cylinder replacement, it's not as thorough as most of my videos but hopefully it will still help.
    This should cover a lot of the VAG group 2.0 tdi cars and more.
    VW Scirocco, Golf, Polo, Passat, Touran
    Seat Leon, Exeo, Ibiza
    Skoda Fabia, Octavia, Yeti
    Audi A1, A3, A4, A5, A6

    Changed my slave and couldn’t get any pressure in the clutch. Noticed a leak under the car from around the master area. Looking at changing the master and hoping it’s that. I’ve also seen a video where the seal/grommet on the hose between the reservoir and the master has split (part number 1K2721453E) so will be checking that when replacing the master too.

    Dude! So many thanks for this video. I thought I was going to have to change the master cylinder, so I watched this video intently. Then I realised that where it was leaking from was not the master cylinder, but the plastic part on top of the high pressure line. After pulling out and reseating the line, the leak has stopped - free of charge! (Although I will attempt to buy the plastic bit and a seal kit in case it returns.) My golf gtd occasionally makes a spring twang noise when i press the clutch then quickly subsides. Only happens very intermittently and only at the very start of a journey. Any idea what this could be? Any idea where the clutch reservoir is to check the level of fluid is it down where the master cylinder is where you showed or near where the bleed nipple is?

    • @IAMASPANNER
      @IAMASPANNER  2 роки тому +1

      The clutch system uses the same reservoir as the brakes so it’s too left of the engine bay. Have a look up in the footwell see if you can see anything that would cause the noise. The pedal is spring loaded so something could be loose or catching up there.

    Hi thanks for your great video. I have changed my master cylinder on my Passat and when pumping the pedal I can’t get it to bleed through absaloutly nothing comes out the bleed nipple. • @IAMASPANNER
      @IAMASPANNER  2 роки тому +2

      Hi David, in my experience they are awful to bleed. I had to use a pressure bleeder and even reverse bled once to sort the one on this car. Although, it turned out the slave cylinder was faulty on this car too, genuinely both were faulty.

  • @Proinsperation

    Great video, thank you! I've just had a new master and slave cylinder put in. We weren't sure which was causing the issue of the pedal being stuck to the floor so started with the master. Turned out to be the slave. So I got the clutch done at the same time as the slave. Now my clutch pedal is very squeaky and the bite is about 1-2inches off the floor.. have you got any idea if "running in the new parts" will solve this.. or does it sound like something is wrong? Thank you

    • @gsoup7850
      @gsoup7850 2 роки тому

      The clutch bite will tend to be lower with a new clutch plate installed. You are probably used to the bite being high as your clutch was worn.

    • @IAMASPANNER
      @IAMASPANNER  2 роки тому

      It may or may not be correct but it will be different to what you were used to before. If you’re unsure you could have the clutch bled again, perhaps a pressure bleed or vacuum bleed.

  • @dok7072
    @dok7072 Рік тому +2

    Since the clutch and brakes share fluid, do you need to also bleed the brakes after replacing the clutch master cylinder? Or is it ok to just bleed from the clutch bleeder block and call it a day?

    • @MalignInfluenceofReevesGabrels
      @MalignInfluenceofReevesGabrels 2 місяці тому

      I think the clutch feed from the reservoir is above the brakes, so in theory evenif your MC dropped all its fluid it wouldn't allow the level to drop so low as to let air into the brake lines. Assuming you've not interfered with the reservoir in any other way of course.
