    Intro looks like modern goalkeeping intro ngl but without the yoga ball, cones, hurdles, benches, and ego. good work!

    As a 17 year old goalkeeper, I always wanted to play pro but a lot things kinda just held me bak especially with the basics. I did make bad habits wen I was a child (eg not working on my weaker foot and not improving my distribution) and I’ve been playing at a Sunday league club in the UK for 10 years now. And been playing as a goalie for at least 8-9 years at most. But a lot of this rly helps coz it’s on the same lines I’ve been told by my coaches (who r ex-professionals) so I 100% bak this all the way. So for me I’m kinda kicking myself for not working on the basics and doing the things this guy outlines in this vid. Btw communication is rly important as it will defo stop goals going in and helps the relationship between defenders and goalie coz they know they got a strong and confident gk behind them

    I'm 18 but i joined a club at 16. Still developing as a goalkeeper a bit, I'm confident I can get far. I make alot of good saves and I started to communicate really well last season. Just have to improve footwork and handling a bit. I do have a positive attitude, just the problem is my mum recommended me to start when I was 7-8 but I had negative attitude as a child when it came for football. And when it corms to mistakes I try to learn from them.

    how important is it to be just as good with your left foot as your right when it comes to distribution???

    • @davidadonnis
      @davidadonnis 2 роки тому +3

      I’d say very important. In high pressure scenarios, sometimes you don’t have the time to switch over to your dominant foot, so it becomes important that you can at least clear the ball far enough with both feet.

    I play keeper recreationally, and to be honest I used to make saves because it was easy to get in the strikers' way and they mostly panic and hit the ball against you. I used to use my feet to make saves etc because I was scared of diving and sometimes made saves by turning back to the ball when the strikers smash the ball real hard. But when I played against guys who are professionally gifted, I so struggled because I based my whole keeper etiquette on backyard soccer. There is so much expected of you when you play keeper at a higher level. I know my friends call me "Keeper" but I know I'm far from it :D. Thanks for the video.

    @maximilianmaier3950 8 місяців тому

    If you say you want to go pro, you're already making a huge mistake, because there are way too many things out of your control.
    To become a professional, you need much more than just hard work, you also need the talent and some luck and you can't control the last two.
    If you don't have the necessary talent, you can work as hard as you can and you'll still never become a pro, you might just end up working too hard and ruin your own body in the process.
    And also injuries or just a bad performance at the wrong time can really set you back.
    I played with two guys on a team once who both had the talent and dedication to become professionals and both eventually made it. However one guy was significantly better than the other one still. One day we had a pro scout watching our game and the better guy had a pretty bad and unlucky day and the other guy really showed up for this one game. And in the end, the worse guy got to play professionally the very next season, while it took the better guy a couple more years to get there, all because of a single game. Just goes to show how much luck can be a factor in your career.
    So if your main goal is to become a professional, you might just set yourself up for frustration and depression, because that goal might be completely out of reach for you now matter how hard you work and how much dedication you have.
    Instead, just always try to become the best version of yourself and if the best version of yourself is good enough to play professionally, good for you.
    I knew I would never become a professional goalkeeper, because I'm only 1,72m tall, which is way too small, but because I always wanted to be the best version of myself, I still made it to a very decent amateur level.
