    Ok…I’m back after 3 months 😅
Ok… So I was honor that this was gift to me from a close family member.
This is nowhere near my normal Dalmore Experience….if you had Dalmore, you get what I’m saying.
I poured the 12yr and it’s sooooo much better. This isn’t a bad scotch….just for the price range…you can get WAAAYYYY more bang for your buck. Man…it’s crazy how my palate has grown. MARK!!!! I sent you an email a few months ago… Get at me when you get a minute.
The nose on this thing isn’t my favorite and I opened this about 2 months ago…didn’t like it…came back to it an I’m sipping it watching this video. And I’m not a fan of this bottle…I’m trying to like it. Maybe if it was $40 …I feel like it’s pretty could.
Mark I agree… I’m use to my sherry coming out of Dalmore. I’m searching 😂😂 yea ….no sherry lol.
If your thinking of buying it…my advice… add and extra $20 and buy The Dalmore 15yr 😎🥃

Fair assessment, I feel the same way. I've had this bottle for about 6 months, and in the last 3 months I've never had a "oh yeah definitely in the mood for a pour of this" moment.

    Crazy...had a choice between this & Dalmore 12... & went with Dalmore 12... this is my 3rd bottle 😄😄
Eventually, I will try Dalmore port reserve

Marketed as something very special and alluring and in reality just run of the mill.

Good review as always. Ive been eyeing this one for awhile. Glad i left it on the shelf. Ill stick paying $200 for the original number 4, the King Alexander. Cheers

See, this is why I like your videos, I don't want to see everyone agreeing all the time, it's great to get different perspectives. I used to love Dalmore, but they seem to have gone off the rails a bit of late I've found.

To be honest, I was really excited about a higher ABV Dalmore. I have had some independent bottlings that were great at a higher ABV, but this one just wasn’t quite there. Still enjoy Dalmore but there are other bottles I would reach for first.

I have this one. The first pour didn't excite me but after letting the bottle breath this was a pleasant dram. I like the 18 year old version. The others in my collection have never been opened. So unfortunately I have nothing else to compare it to.

I'm with Shawn on this one, I really enjoyed it and have contemplated buying a second bottle. There's just too many others on my list. I actually stop myself from going back to it and finishing the bottle, because i want it to last. Scott

Good review guys. I think it's expensive because it uses tawny port pipes which tend to mature port wines for many many years some tawny ports can be decades old. Compared to ruby port pipes which only mature port for a couple of years.

I like the Dalmore expressions - but the only one that’s worth the money is the standard 12 year. The 15 year, the Cigar Malt, and the King Alexander are all very good whiskies but I can’t substantiate the cost/value proposition on any of them.

I do like a port wood finish, however it does seem a bit expensive for a CF, coloured, NAS (I tend to think Dalmore is overpriced anyway for what it is, might just be me 😁). Interesting to see where it fits along side Tomatin 14 or Glenm' Quinta Ruban... My two current open port bottles.. both of which I rate

Honestly I like Dalmore and bless their hearts for trying! I'm with Mark on this offering! You guys REALLY need to get into Kilchoman! I think you guys are missing the boat on something special which is only going to get spectacular in the years to come imho!!!

    • @chadadams1127
      @chadadams1127 5 років тому +1

All I'm trying to say is you guys have done a great job showcasing distilleries i.e. Wolfburn, Jura (rebranding), Glen Moray... imho Kilchoman is far superior to these with younger juice...Kilchoman is the epitome of a craft distillery i.e. Springbank. Their cask selections and quality rival or are on par with many of the Big Boys GlenDronach, Glengoyne, Ardbeg just to name a few. OK my fanboy rant is over, keep up the good work Gents!!!

I think we have enjoyed the Kilchoman expressions we have tried so far. I know a lot of people really enjoy them, and I think you will see us review more soon. I don’t want to miss out on anything.

I explored the 12yo and the "old" Cigar Malt years ago and stopped there. Dalmore collects dust due to price and lackluster reviews almost everywhere I shop. Oh and Whisky above 46% abv don't require chill-filtering.

One of the first reviews I've watched from you guys that I see as WAY off base. I've thought this is right on par value wise with their 15 year old. And I like to see a dalmore below 250 that doesnt have a heavy sherry influence.

The Port Wood is the best from their core line, period.

Dalmore only from IBs for me.
Btw looks like Mark is hitting some serious weights!

A buddy brought this around. Left the heels for me to kill off. It's still here. I agree with all of you guys 😆 But especially Mark 😉
Where's the grip? Texture? Flavour? It's been flattened, completely denied any real expression or character. Designed to be "smooth" and not much else. And the price? You are having a laugh. An utterly cynical bottle.

Just passed off my last few glasses of king Alexander lll. I've not had a single Dalmore worth the money. Even IB Dalmores. Currently have a 15 year cask strength and it's a let down as well. UGHH

This Dalmore is way to expensive for a NAS port finish. I ould go with either Glenmorangie Quinta rubin or the Tomatin 14 port finish. Even better would be the Edradour port matured, that is one strong one.

  • @zaaimi
    @zaaimi 5 років тому +2

Honestly so overpriced. Never had a dalmore, but their pricing is always way too high. Not sure I can justify the spend - in Morocco, the dalmore 12 is nearly 80 usd while some excellent drama like the glenmorangie 10 and the Laphroaig 10 are around 50 usd (so a bit of a push to go to the dalmore).

Cigar Malt is 44% and the 18 is 43%. But the 12, 15 and King are all 40%, sadly.

Dalmore hid a very young whisky behind a port finish. That would explain its dryness and the lack of depth. A well crafted bottle but a young bottle no less.

  • @Dantheman626

Definetly not worth the $95 I paid. The flavor is muted to me. Theres hints of good whisky here, but too much disappointment to compensate for.

it is NAS but it is at least 16 or 17 years old, just saying.

    There's only 1 dalmore under $100.. 12 year

That's disappointing, especially with their chosen bottling ABV..... ~Mark

Dalmore cigar malt is far superior to the port wood. Port wood is the worst Dalmore I’ve ever tried.

This dram sucks. Def not worth $100.
