That A-10 gun run was a religious experience.
GAU-8 religion is important.
It took me a moment to realize what the sound was, but then I realized it was the sound of multiple Gau8’s firing at a time. Impressed that the sound wasn’t just synced up, but was like layered
The tail of the shell creates a vacuum which creates drag which reduces velocity and range. Base bleed shells have a gas emitter in the tail of the shell that fills the vacuum improving velocity and range. There are also rocket-assisted projectiles but a base bleed just tries to reduce drag to achieve better range without adding thrust.
Brakes reduce recoil on big guns by pushing the gasses t the side (and often back at an angle) so it doesn’t shoot all the gas’s out the front, pushing the barrel back.
They also help stabilize the round by diverting the turbulant gas to the sides, reducing vibration of the round and increasing accuracy.
Also, there's some 'rocket effect' that uses those gasses to actually pull the barrel forward while it's recoiling backwards, cancelling some/much of the recoil. Downside: It's loud-as-hell, and large cannons with large muzzle brakes may require safety exclusion zones to the side so nobody gets hurt by the concussion.
Not just big guns . Never stand next to any gun that is shooting with a muzzle device .
@@erickleven1712 that only works if the baffles are curved backwards like on the paladin, and you only see that style of brake on armored vehicles. on towed cannons or self propelled guns where the crew is outside the vehicle the muzzle blast would kill or seriously injure the crew. that's why on any towed cannon or howitzer the baffles direct the gasses perpendicular to the tube or barrel.
CH I have said it many times, I will say it again. YOU are an animal! A driven, focused, brilliant and clever beast. If ED churned out content like you do it would be a whole different world. Well done sir. And of course Cap's evaluation and scenario creations showcase it so well. Like the last A-10 run. I must have watched that 10x
CH missed a chance to implement the Vulcano ammunition on the Pzh2000 and smash targets at 100km.
Increased Boom Boom ratio approved
Base bleed looks like a rocket propelled shell but its not. it does, however, "bleed" gas into the low pressure area directly behind the shell(which kinda looks like a rocket engine but its not) which reduces the drag. really cool tech
By filling in the low pressure zone just behind the flat end of the boat tail, it effectively makes the rear of the shell behave like it tapered to a point. There's a similar think with adding an aerospike to a missile (used on SLBMs like Trident I and II and the French M51) which is a flat disc on the end of a telescoping pole that projects from the nose of the vehicle. It creates a conical shockwave ahead of the very blunt nose cone, which make it more aerodynamic as though it had a more pointed nose and reduces drag/extends range.
As a trucker in the United States, I saw PzH-2000s with the gun tubes taken off, being hauled out into the southwestern desert to a training exercise, along with M-109A6 Paladin SPGs.
The Paladin is a 155mm L/39. The standard gun length for a towed howitzer is L/18 to L/23
Used to be called copperhead rounds I think, guided 155 mm artillery shells. Wicked stuff
Nasty piece of kit!
11:45 with the PFHE rounds firing on a main battle tank, for instance, you can very easily mission kill it by immobilizing it and destroying vision blocks and sensors.
The ending from the ground units point of view along with the camera work was Epic ! More of that please
What more can you add to describe CH mods? On the other than CH is an artist or guenius, but CH delivers, really delivers great fun in game modules.
APFSDS: Armour-Piercing Fin-Stabilised Discarding Sabot
Otherwise known as The Arrow from Hell
Say it with Sabots... heheh - I did note the difference from the Swedes and the US... US uses DU rounds for that - depleted Uranium... nasty punch but unfortunately contaminates the battlefield.
@@CaptainSeamusThat has NOT been confirmed. There is proven to be very little radiation threat from DU shells.
PzH 2000 can also fire multiple tubes at a single target so they all arrive precisely on the same aim point.
Badass or what?
Yup, cool.
10:10 The muzzle brake has high velocity gasses from firing, providing forward thrust against the baffles on the muzzle brake, reducing the force, velocity, and impulse time of the gun's recoil.
CH, you are a mad genius! We owe you big time.
Muzzlebrake is breaking the muzzle! It's reducing the recoil up to 50%.
Muzzle brakes redirect propellant gasses. Expanding gasses traveling down a tube essentially creates thrust, so the brake redirects some of this thrust to the sides or rear to reduce or counteract the recoil of the gun. Reducing the recoil is a means to an end... less recoil means you can build a smaller and lighter recoil system. This helps with strategic mobility and packaging considerations.
The device closer to the turret is a bore evacuator. It also uses propellant pressure wizardry to protect the crew from toxic spent propellant gases.
Hope that helps Cap. 👍
the US Army used to have a tracked series of howitzers the M110 a 203mm (8inch) but it was phased out
Thanks CH!!
Loved the video @GrimReapers! Can't wait for the next video man! Wonderful Mods and Models by Current Hill! The PGZ-09 looks more like a Cross between a Gepard and a Tunguska to be honest!
Also, is it just be or does the sound of multiple A-10A Gunruns sound more like a Swarm of Bees?
All his stuff should be added to the base game, it would give some desperately needed variation for mission makers to create scenarios with.
Hoping to see that happen one day as im struggling myself to create diversity in missions with the limited and often low quality default assets in the mission editor.
CH I just want to say thanks on behalf of everyone in the DCS community. It seems ED have forgotton about assets lately. You are really adding a lot of value to the sim. I usually make my own South China Sea / Taiwan scenarios so I really appreciate all the mods you do, especially the Chinese ones, since there is nothing good in the base game for them.
CH: "heavy drinking night..."
This video would have been great for the 4th of July! Mega boom booms!!!!
The brake / compensator disipayes the recoil backward.
Fun fact: Nasams site in Australia was being modified, such as their radars, from AN-MPQ-64FI to CEATAC radars, which is Australian made. It was thought to be more superior then the original radars.
Thanks CH!
The muzzle brake helps by making the recoil less
Loving the Minecraft themed camouflage on the PGZ.
Cap, after seeing what a certain other DCS content creator just did in his community feed (attacking his viewers, making a fool of himself, then deleting it) I just wanted to thank you for not being a dick to us valued viewers. It's one of the many reasons why you have literally 10 times the subscribers despite not being an experienced combat pilot. There's more to DCS than that.
Yup, doesn't hurt to be nice...
The muzzle brake is probably a smart round programmer giving programmable rounds based on speed leaving the cannon
34:25 could give you an idea of the gulf war that ending for the bits I’ve seen on it
The muzzle brake directs the smoke out to the sides of the vehicle so that the gunner can see well enough to take their next shot.
Cool Shit Cap! Thanks for all your hard work...
The pixel paint on chinese vehicles looks really clean and modern
CH is amazing!
The reason for the high reverse speed of the CV90 can be translated and abbreviated to FFFQSR (Fast Forward! Fuck! Quick, Smoke! Reverse!)
(In swedish it would be: Fort Framåt! Fan Fel! Rök! BAKÅT!)
Also, iirc the the 40/L70 APFSDS-T will punch through
Oerlikons sounding like the snare drums from Black Watch
everybody loves extra boom boom
Bin liners are a great alternative to nappies
the gases go rearward to lessen the recoil...jusy like a muzzle break on a rifle. My uncle is currently working on a contract from joint force to outfit all the larger cal conventioal cannons with HuDu comps
I know its odd and unrealistic, but it would be really cool if CH made Project Thor, or Rods from God
Huge tungsten rods dropped from orbit
That ZBD04A-AT or AFT10 is one of the few dedicated tank destroyers in service on the modern battlefield.
I love having a 40mm machinegun.
There is no such thing as a dash in PzH 2000
- Germany has tested the Excalibur round from the PzH 2000, but did not introduce it. A German/Italian guided round was chosen instead (Vulcano)
- Base Bleed rounds have a gas generator in the base of the round. This reduces drag and allows for longer ranges (together with an optimized round geometry)
The 155 mm round is the main artillery round in NATO, because it offers a good compromise of handling, effect on target, range, logistics and equipment weight. Russia uses 152 mm, but also higher calibers.
nice
Im guessing CH has built a programming sweatshop with those older kids. 🤔 😉
Don't give him ideas...
Great vid Cap! Looking for a video that could show the power of F-35 hive mind via Link16. For example, 2 F-35s traveling in stealth ahead of a handful of F-15/F-18 missile trucks that share the F-35s radar via Link16 vs a Russian air wing with 2 Felons with equal amount of gen 4 missile trucks. I'm guessing you would need to use AWACS to simulate Link16??
Muzzle brake to aid recoil, i believe
The CJ-10 has an anti-ship variant called the YJ-100.
"The swedish like their long names" ..... 1 minute earlier: "Panzerhaubitze 2000".
The Hogs weren't going to be anyone's easy kill
The A-10 Swarm changed my life!!!
It would be cool to see CH make a U.S. hypersonic ground to ground missile system, i forgot the acronym but its something like the ARROW
AGM-183 ARRW - cancelled in March this year.
Dang that sucks, we probably could've used it
@@trolleriffic Wrong, this is the airforce's HGV program. the Army uses a separate weapon known as LRHW (shared with the navy) which is what the OP is referring to
CH is a legend.
Man if you're really sick this often i recommend you ask your pcp for a referral to an immunologist. They can run the correct testing/panels to make sure you don't need vaccines for older people earlier in life, and they may have specific recommendations to boost immunity.
They need to implement these mods into dcs. They are up to par with dcs quality
they are better than dcs quality is the thing
@@MrStefan232 literally
Muzzle brake reduces recoil chaps 👍
Hi, had a cool video idea. What if you played A bunch of those older aircraft sims and games from MS DOS and 95, there are so many and they are all so different!
Thank you CH. In the spirit of the Chinese missile launcher, I have a suggestion for new assets CH! These would be awesome to see in DCS and there's 100% more guaranteed erections! Plus these suggestions fire existing missiles.
- US Army "Typhon" - Ground-based "Mid-Range Capability" program. This will be a unit comprised of support vehicle, reload trailers, and a four vertica launch systems that appear much like a US Army style 18-wheeler heavy transport truck (M983A4 HEMTT). Another truck carries the mobile command system. This is basically the equivalent of the Patriot system but for surface to surface missile attacks. They can hit static and moving targets on land and sea. Each vertical launch system has four cells and each cell carries the latest Tomahawk Block V and SM-6 missiles for 16x missiles plus reloads per unit. Quoted ranges ae 500 to 1500 km for these units.
- US Marines "NMESIS" = An unmanned "JLTV Rogue Fires" chassis with two-missile launcher on the back, firing the Navail Strike Missile. That's is, but I get it if you were to choose a different vehicle for the firing platform as there likely isn't a high quality 3D model and texture for a bespoke unmanned JLTV vehicle.
- If Cap moves on to 2030 Carrier Strike Group naval battles, the US Navy will have medium unmanned surface vessels within their groups, which is essentially a commercial-sized vessel (Google will help with designs with prototypes all over the place) that have containers with integrated verticle launch cells following the Mk41 VLS standards and Aegis networking to serve as magazine ships.
- Even cooler would obviously be the US Constellation-class frigates currently under construction, to be joining CSG's coming to ports near you also around 2030.
- US Army Multi-Mission Launcher which is essentially a mobile/transportable SAM system that can be loaded with Stinger, Hellfire, Tamir (Iron Dome), David's Sling (Stunner - Israel), and primarily AIM-9X to protect US Army forces in short range air defense. There's also ongoing development to fire the "Miniature Hit-to-kill Missile" which is, as its name implies, a very small and cheap precision SAM to take out a lot of incoming munitions and drones. It will likley be paired up with an energy weapon when deployed, so a high power laser, microwave energy weapon, or potentially both at the same time due to their differing strengths versus different targets. It's designed to supplement various other M-SHORAD systems and Patriot.
favorite module that i shoudl try or/and buy at the summersale?
“a full Margaret Thatcher” lmaooooo
"Giggity" -- Cap.
Never go full Thatcher 😂
Do give the option to equip PzHs with armored roof plates
How does HE scaling work in DCS? Those are pretty huge explosions for a 40mm lol.
CV90 just so coollllll
Then PzH shelling was The Full Bakhmut treatment. Not making a joke, just reflecting that is must be d***ed close to that level of devastation
That neighborhood sucked anyways.
"CH is very versatile with children" hahah
Muzzle break reduces recoil
I think It's art👍👾
CH needs to be paid more.
Cap, using the f15e unlimited fuel bug, can you see if it is possible to leave a map, travel around the world, and end up back on the same map.
lol cool
I've been watching you for a while. I've always wanted to fly but don't have the mo ey.
I've been looking for a new hobby, and lego is too expensive, so I'm thinking model planes from the cfb greenwood aviation museum.
I watch your shot every night. I love it when Fly kicks your ass. You all pick on him too much.
Bofors 👍🏻
Hi CAP,
A war games idea:
A Russian strike mission with SEAD, CAP and strike against Poland or the Baltic states, lots of mixed NATO defences which would be interesting to see their effectiveness. To keep monetized maybe GR house could be the target once more
Ill say it for you Cap, CH's assets are better than core game!
Could you do a tutorial on the data link pod for the f15E?
Sure
Wow. ;)
Ya had to know A10 gonna A10
Can you do a RS-28 Sarmat being dropped over London video? how much damage it can cause? You are not doing ICBM videos, note sure why though. Thank you.
If possible can CH make the KF-21? With the information that SK have made public
Interesting plane.
👋
I think it'd been cool to see these new units fight each other in a couple test! Perhaps next time ;) 👍👍
The NASAAM lol
Israel: We have SPYDER
All German armoured vehicles have a MG3 or MG4, just in case.
ch, doesnt the cv90 have a 120 variant?
Yes CV90120
no SAMP/T and no CAESAR 😥
CH, thanks for all the mods. Can you please make the S400?
What do you mean? There is already an S-400...
Bro it’s time to send CH a mic so he can stop talking on his cell phone from the 90s. Sounds like he is using his flip phone to talk
Don’t worry, after only ten or eleven million diapers, you’ll work out all the issues! You can trust me, after two kids, I changed at least 1.5 billion diapers! 😉
Needlessly big, said only by those who are not needlessly big? :-) Ammo consistency
CH, Please make AHS KRAB
Can someone explain to me why this guy can generate 10 high resolution units a month while Eagle Dynamics can generate one model a year? I'm using a clean game - and to this day there are AI units from 1995.
Can't Eagle Dynamics pay this guy to make AI units for them?
They should 👍🏻
CH Please create-- Starstreak THOR, Rheinmetal Skynex, Stryker IM-Shorad, Truck Mounted Modular SM-6, THAAD, Expeditionary Ship Interdiction System(with NSM), BLU 129, B 61 MOD 12, AGM-129A, SM-6 Block 1B, General Atomics Hypersonic Blitzer, and Strategic Long Range Cannon!🙏👍
Hi Grim Reapers, I love your Taiwan-China war games, but sadly the Taiwanese was not accurate, because we have 137 F-CK-1 fighters and Sky Bow SAM family that you did not put into consideration. The Taiwanese fighters would not charge into the PLAAF fighters , they would hide in the SAM network, get the high ground, and wait for the Chinese to make a mistake, so can you make a more accurate Taiwan mod?
