This is amazingly brutally great in Nov. 2024. Only have seen FNM back in the good ol days of the 90's. Love Mr. B. but missed them ive in Nola. MP is our Mozart. I just love this shit...cheers
I saw MP live first time with Tomahawk. I think it was 2002. Maybe 500 people were there in this small club in Barcelona, Spain. No one knew any of their songs and that is why he put a performance I will never forget. He was literally possessed like in some kind of exorcism with some female stockings in his head. I think when they play Laredo in this concert is very similar to what I am describing. At the end of the show we had tears in our eyes as we all knew we assisted to some kind of a miracle. No one can or will sing or perform like he did.
The thing that sometimes gets lost is that MP is not just singing, he's running his own sound AND producing all the synth & other sounds........and doing it well. Saw them headline a show at house of blues, & I thought as I watched him from the balcony that MP looked a little like a mad scientist, tweaking & fiddling with knobs & keys etc, all while hitting every note, sound & word on time.
Its amazing. I never gave Faith No More a chance because of the song Epic being on the radio and I do not like slap bass. Also I would have had to spend $17 or later have had a friend who had any of their albums,, a CD burner, a blank disc, and a few hours to babysit the process. I didn't find out Queens of the Stone age would be one of my favorite bands around 2 decades after not enjoying their music video for No One Knows and thinking the band name stunk. Also no friends had one of their albums. People say Mike Patton has ADD I believe it. I'm talking the real deal ADD. Not what people who are wasting everyone's time in university pretending they're learning something but need drugs to study and flirt with amphetamine addiction. I'd bet Mike would make mistakes performing without lots of tactiles near by to pick at, finger, pinch, prod, and poke.
@@frogsuitsman4853 QOTSA is my favorite rock band...I was already into them by the time I saw the video for No One Knows. Almost anything Mike patton is involved with is my 2nd favorite. Re: MP & ADD...he didn't always have all the gear up on stage with him & he did well...but who knows, having all those different things to do may just make it easier for him.
He's not exactly running his own sound. He still has the house guy do that. What you do see is his effects, instruments and microphones going through a mixer that he does have personal control of. I've heard him refer to it as the chaos box.
Singer/everything: Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr Bungle...) Guitar: Duane Denison (The Jesus Lizard) Bass: Kevin Rutmanis (Melvins) Drums: John Stanier (Helmet) What a fucking lineup
He is easily one of the most talented vocalists I have heard in my entire life. I'm blessed that he is performing live in my country soon, I will be very lucky if I can get a ticket before they sell out.
Doesn’t matter how many times I’ve played these tracks or watched these performances , I still get goosebumps the minute I hear the passion in his vocals.
@@mikespearwood3914 he talks about it briefly in the interview with Eric Andre. It’s the only time he ever had music lessons, the person who was teaching him at the piano allegedly touched him inappropriately. He explains this as a reason why he’s self taught

Check out a band called "Battles", the drummer's other band. I've only just discovered them through a friend. They been going since mid 2000's. They're on WARP records. Amazing drum stuff going on.
I would say he is a million Perry Farrells. But I may be wrong. All I know is that there is only 1 Mike Patton. And thats better than a million Perrys.
Fuc*ing great! the most under-rated and purely BEST of the Patton projects, on par with FNM in my opinion! Best band for sure and he truly uses his voice as an instrument and gives a whole new meaning to 'front man' here. Creative as hell and very strong. Too bad he didn't concentrate more on this project as 'Mit Gas' is an incredible album, as was the debut.
I somehow always forget how incredible tomahawk is then I listen and remember everything, not that anyone should care, but first time I ever really listened to them was the first time I ever really to ecstasy talk bout a religious experience
Nobody has any clue how hard it is to play and sing like this mike would lose his voice if he did it all the time but then idk cuz he has such good control idk maybe hes got it under control.
They're almost back...we just need to Participate in the Human Clinical trials of the Experimental Needle Concoction and keep getting swabs shoved in our heads. And make sure you make your children do the same.
I'm thinking it's related to his reason for leaving the Melvins: "When asked about Rutmanis and the canceled portion of the tour Osborne and Crover stated that Rutmanis had "disappeared". Fans feared that Rutmanis had departed like so many bassists before him; however, Rutmanis returned temporarily in early 2005. In June 2005, Rutmanis officially left the band with drug abuse rumored as the major cause" [from the Melvins wiki page]
I don't think they toured between the release of Anonymous and Oddfellows but they definitely played songs from Anonymous during the Oddfellows tour. Have a look for shows from 2013 on, eg Lollapalooza Brazil
I believe it's hard for them since they are complex songs and involve a lot of percussion, I made a hard search and didn't found anything other than Totem at their Oddfellows tour. I think the reason they didn't toured Anonymous is because the bass player left before the recording process begin

What an amazing place to play too. That view is spectacular for the band as much as it is the audience.
