I just began listening to you RC, knowing you have gone to be with our Lord, and I now know why Pastor MacArthur loves you so much ❤ You're such a dear man. I'm so grateful to have found both of you. Amen.
Ditto! My husband and I met him in the 1980's. They are both in heaven and RC's teaching is as powerful true snd relevant as ever, because eternal truth is ETERNAL! Thank God for all the videos and audios left behind.
I discovered R. C. about three years ago at a point of my life when I was coming out of the word of faith. He was the instrument God used in teaching me the reformed doctrines. But no only that... He challenged me to see God in such a way that was bigger than I had first seen him. Thank God for this man. He is gone to be with Christ, but his life and ministry is to affecting lives. To God be the dominion and praise and wisdom. Amen.
I hope you've come across Pastor Chris Rosborough, Justin Peters and Voddie Baucham. All can be found on UA-cam and Rosborough has a channel called, "Fighting for the Faith' and there are sermons and Sundays school on their church website 'Kongsvinger Lutheran Church' in Oslo, MN. 👍
You're right there will never be another RC Sproul's.... But because of all the men he's trained and all the books DVDs he still continues to bless us! I truly believe we need to support Ligonier Ministries!
What can I say? God has made such a man who is even blessing us through his death. What a man!! What a message !!! What a blessing. We give God thanks for who he is. Praise God.
The person of late author, humanitarian and Christian, Corrie ten Boom is worthy of a deeper look for anyone so inclined. What a remarkable and compassionate Christian family the Ten Boom's were.
I thank God for allowing me to witness R.C. Sproul preach and learn from his biblically-grounded teachings. He is one brilliant man in Godʼs mission. He will always be missed.
Grateful that R.C. Sproul brought to light God's immutability. Indeed, the Lord showed up in times when I was left alone in the past. And He still is even today. And I know He remains the same in my future. Praise the Lord.
I've been looking for this message for the past few days because the introductory comment about the valedictorian speech is absolutely hilarious. I listened to it years ago and that intro has stuck fast in my mind. RC's humour is one wonderful aspect of him. But that aside, the message is so powerful. I'm so grateful for R C's ministry
There are people who should never die, especially those who love to share God and His Light into a darkened world. God bless His people! Be God exalted forever!!!! Thank You, Jesus! If anyone could explain to me why Jesus (Who is immutable, Almighty, omniscient God) said to His disciples He didn't even know the time when He would return to fetch us. Thank you, in advance. God bless you!
Sproul makes a mistake around 14 minutes into this when he criticizes John Wesley's lyrics in *And Can It Be That I Should Gain.* The lyrics that incur his wrath are: And can it be that I should gain An int'rest in the Savior's blood? Died He for me, who caused His pain? For me, who Him to death pursued? Amazing love! how can it be That Thou, my God, should die for me? Sproul says that if God had really died, then everything in the universe would have gone out of existence because God would not have continued to exist. God sustains the physical world, so there would have been an end to the entire physical creation. The problem with what Sproul is saying is death is not ceasing to exist. First, Jesus did die on the Cross physically. He gave up his spirit after he had finished the atonement. Second, and more importantly, Jesus died on the Cross as the Second Person of the Trinity when he was bearing our sins and God the Father turned his back on Jesus, completely abandoning him as Jesus assumed our sins. Jesus' ultimate punishment for our evil was this spirtual alienation from the Father. That was spiritual death. Jesus did not go out of existence at any time. But he died in the sins of the world as God the Father forsook him. When people die in Roman times as well as now, they do not ever cease to exist. They are estranged from us who remain on earth, but they still exist...in Heaven or in Hell.
Wonderful message! Love to listen to Sproul even when I disagree with him. The one thing I disagree with him about in this message is that God literally remembers our sins forever. I disagree. I believe God has the ability or power to absolutely forget all of our sins forever. I take those scriptures literally and personally. I am open to God changing my mind but so far that is the way God's Word reads to me.
King James Bible Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:
I was actually wondering about this the other day, about how Christ, being God, could be one person with humanity that could die and God that could not die. And I appreciated hearing Dr. Sproul explain that Jesus in his humanity died, but that that only means that the only thing that changed was that God was attached to a dead body instead of a living one. I'll have to think that through and research that a lot more before I can choose whether to accept it. However, I'm not sure we have to agree that the song should be changed. After all, Jesus, who is my God, did die for me. If Jesus was not human, then to say that my God died for me would be inaccurate. But Jesus is a man who is God and who died for me. In this particular sense, that is not the same as to say that God died. In another sense, it could mean that, and would be wrong. But because Jesus is in fact God, it doesn't necessarily have to mean that.
The only Greek text there is... present time please: "having" or "that loves him" is very disturbing... the KJV always is NOW, not a yesterday's "was" !!
If God is immutable, why is there Replacement Theology that God is done with Israel/Jews? If Reformed teaches Salvation through faith alone and cannot be earned, why would God make Israel earn their place by conditions and cast them off when they failed? Just wondering
I love this though I'm having a hard time with his point on "and can it be". God had to have been the one to die otherwise the value of the payment could not cover all the elect. The value of the death deeply depends on his deity. Were Christ to have only been a perfect man, he could have only taken the place of one other man. Christ however is God and thus his death could cover all. By this I obviously don't mean to communicate that God ceased to exist. This is not what death means anyway. Death is a separation of body and spirit. This indeed did happen to God, for God the Son was separated from his human body. I don't understand the benefit of shying away from the line "how can it be that thou my God should die for me." I find it integral to substitutionary atonement.
For only the first time I disagree with the great late R C, I think God does change his mind, and it can be proven in scripture. Didn't he not want the children of Israel to have a king, only to change his mind and allow it.

God Is immutable yet you preach that God changed His mind and said to keep Sunday as a Sabbath. Why? Show where He said so. Where did He ordered to change His fourth commandment , the Holy Sabbath to Sunday as the Sabbath. There is not such a thing , He never changes, you are saying it but when you preach Sunday for Sabbath you are changing His Word and saying That He changed the Day.

The best explanation why man has conjured up in his mind that God doesn’t exist.
Sproul makes a mistake around 14 minutes into this when he criticizes John Wesley's lyrics in *And Can It Be That I Should Gain.* The lyrics that incur his wrath are:
And can it be that I should gain
An int'rest in the Savior's blood?

M K If it were possible for God to literally forget something, He would forfeit His attribute of omniscience, thus He would no longer be God.
so you actually know something God doesnt know about?

What about the Creed which says that He was crucified dead and buried
In His human nature he died, not in his divinity. Also, the creed is not the bible. Nothing is the bible except the bible I e. The word of God
