    I am truly a bruised Reed. I was violently abuse at the age of 10. I have carried this secretly in my heart my whole life. I am now 62 years old and through this teaching...I have come to grips with my suffering. I am bruised BUT I AM NOT BROKEN. Thank you bro Sproul for helping me see my chains broken.

    I purchased the book Dr. Sproul recommended. It does indeed interface the Holy Scripture beautifully. “What counts are relationships”. Dr. Sproul’s sermons and lecture resound within me. “You cannot ignore the Antithesis.” Making the best decision possible. “There are wolves out there will and they will devour you”. “When to debate and when to be quiet”. Blood may have to shed to preserve God Home and Country. Our ancestors did. Without God there is no Gospel. “Razor’s edge, be very careful”. Amen. Love you Dr. Sproul - Wish I met you and heard first hand. Resting in Peace. Amen

    Protected from ravenous wolves. Thy Rod and Thy staff thou comfort me. When to be gentle and when for to be forceful. We are called to love/charity. Humility for others in yielding peace. Inflexible in nothing except in the cause of Truth. God and conscience require it. The standard is love. Humility brought before us all. Bending over backwards in disagreement to bring harmony and do what is right. At least trying to be faithful to scripture. The judgement assumes each are disagreeing in honest integrity. Explore your motives and how much more will it achieve love or more trouble. Major or minor. Minor practice patience. Major, you gotta say or do something. Dr. Sproul has laid this beautiful sermon for to be charitable but discerning that decision by teaching the Scriptural best teaching. This is both great and beautiful. God is about sound doctrine to live our best. Either lost nerve or lost mind, maybe a little of both. When you believe what you believe have you considered antithesis - the end result of it. There are times to take it on - that is now, to fight. When you debate and when you murre- discern by teaching of Scripture as to how to achieve. There is no gospel without Jesus. Be bold against the wolves. One of most favorite of Dr. Sproul’s preaching and teaching. ♥️✝️♥️🇺🇸🙏☮️🌏.

    Most reactions on this message by Mr Sproul focus on child baptism, which is to me a clear indication that the central message which mr. Sproul tried to convey hasn’t landed. I fully agree with this message by mr. Sproul, although it is to me also a painful truth to behold, how far I am from the bar set by Christ. I have fought many a battle for the Truth of Scripture and to my recollection, Stand by them all... but I also know that some of those battles might have been better served with a scalpel than with the sword. Nevertheless, by the Grace of God, I am what I am, and on matters of sound doctrine: here I stand, I can do nothing else... God have mercy on me... especially by endowing a more humble spirit within me...

    If JESUS thought that the woman would have been offended that He referred to her as a "dog", He would not have used the term. But there was a greater issue at stake here. JESUS went to this woman essentially to help her, but He had to teach the disciples with Him a lesson. They, their race, and their leaders, all thought of non-Jews as dogs, and did not think they should help nor associate with them. The disciples needed to be rid of this malady. They were initially happy that JESUS seemed to disregard this woman, and were even more happy that He called her a "dog". But when JESUS commended her for her great faith and granted her request, they were made to reflect on their own hardness of heart in respect to this woman and the people they hated. The heart of the precious Savior must have ached when He had to use the reference. But the woman saw in His face a look and demeanor that reflected what was truly in His heart of love and pity. The woman was granted her request, the disciples taught their lesson of benevolence, and the precious LORD JESUS had again accomplished His mission of service and love to humanity. Allelujah!! What a Savior!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Isaiah 42:1 - 9
    The LORD's Servant
    42 1 "Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles. 2 He will not cry out, nor raise His voice, Nor cause His voice to be heard in the street. 3 A bruised reed He will not break, And smoking flax He will not quench; He will bring forth justice for truth. 4 He will not fail nor be discouraged, Till He has established justice in the earth; And the coastlands shall wait for His law."
    5 Thus says God the Lord, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it, Who gives breath to the people on it, And spirit to those who walk on it: 6 "I, the Lord, have called You in righteousness, And will hold Your hand; I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people, As a light to the Gentiles, 7 To open blind eyes, To bring out prisoners from the prison, Those who sit in darkness from the prison house. 8 I am the Lord, that is My name; And My glory I will not give to another, Nor My praise to carved images. 9 Behold, the former things have come to pass, And new things I declare; Before they spring forth I tell you of them."
    Reed: The Shepherds Flute
    In biblical times, and in some cases today, shepherd boys would play a simple dual-piped flute made of reed. This they would do in the presence of their flock. The strains of the music would be pleasing to both the shepherd boy and his flock. No doubt David's introduction to musicianship began with such an instrument.
    Whenever a reed flute started to get soggy or for some other reason ceased to be useful because it no longer made a pleasing sound, it would be snapped or folded in two and discarded.
    Flax: wick of the lamp
    Lamps in biblical times were very similar to the paraffin lanterns that we see today, used by fisherman and campers.
    The lamp had a tube through which thin rope (wick) was passed so that it came into contact with the fuel (oil in this case). The other end of the wick was then lit.
    Now and again the end of the wick would stop emitting a flame and merely smolder, therefore not producing much light. In such a case, the end of the wick would be snuffed out completely, cut off and discarded and the new end would be ignited.
    What does this mean?
    Even as our worship is like a bruised reed, Christ will not break us. All true worship, no matter how c weak, towards the Father through Christ is acceptable.
    Even though our witness is dim, He will not cut us off. We are weak vessels but in us is stored God’s treasure. Each is given his alloted measure of gifting.

    RC, First let me say Thank you for being a man of God. It is so rare in this 21 Century. I wanted to comment, when you were on a Panel, and the question, was something like, why was God's wrath so tough on Adam, and Eve, and I think your answer, was right on the mark. Could you please try to lead Joel Osteen to Christ? You are of , but of s few ministers who tell the truth, and I really appreciate it.

    • @DanielaBranca
      @DanielaBranca 4 роки тому +1

      "Lead Joel Osteen to Christ"? You've never spent any time on Lakewood Church's website, obviously, because if you had you'd know that Joel is a Christian - He has faith in Jesus, teaches Jesus is God incarnate, born of a virgin, paid for our sins and ascended to Heaven. Nothing RC didn't teach. What makes you think Joel needs to be led to Christ?
      I agree we need to watch out for the wolves in sheep's clothing. But Joel is not one of them. Adrian Rogers used to say we need to distinguish the "weak" from the "wicked". Pope Francis is a wolf in sheep's clothing (wicked). Joel is, probably, more of a "weak" pastor, if at all, given he doesn't have the proper training. But for all the years that I have watched him, he's quite biblical in his preaching. He preaches more on Christian living, but if you go to his website and watch his Lakewood pastors, you will see they go deeper. Not as deep as RC and Ligonier go. But then, again, that's not Joel's calling.
      Joel goes wide. He fills the gap between ZERO knowledge of God and Sunday School. RC used to say he wanted to fill the gap between Sunday School and seminary. So Ligonier goes deep, rather than wide. BOTH do a great job for the Kingdom. And Joel tells his TV audience every single Sunday to "get into a good bible-based Church". Because of this, I found a local church. And through the local church I found Ligonier and RC. So you see, God knows what He's doing.
      Joel's father, John Osteen, was a Baptist pastor, and founder of Lakewood Church. I bet some of his critics are now in heaven apologizing to him for being so critical of him and his son. Let not that be you, sister. We're all brothers and sisters in Christ. Yes, let's identify the wicked and denounce them publicly (like Francis) and let's resolve doctrinal differences in private, helping the weak grow in their understanding.

      @@DanielaBranca I truly believe you have no idea how much of a false teacher Joel Osteen is. Do your research even just here in youtube you will be surprised. Ask God to open your eyes to the truth and nothing but His truth. I pray that the Holy Spirit lead you to see the truth about Joel Osteen's false teachings that are very much in contradiction to the Bible. I used to like and follow and belive Joel O like you but by God's grace and mercy I learned the sad truth about Joel Osteen. I hope and pray that you will find the truth as well about this man.

    • @DanielaBranca
      @DanielaBranca 3 роки тому

      @@joycecantere1470 Blanket statements like "Joel Osteen is a false teacher", without providing a video or a specific example that proves your point, are no good. And define "false preacher". Is it anything that contradicts the Bible? Or just the core Christian beliefs? Because if it's anything that contradicts the Bible, then there's no true teacher. Nobody alive today can claim they have perfect understanding of Scriptures. Nobody. So, does false teaching mean having any error or specific to salvation errors? Or about Christ? (ie, not recognizing His deity would be a serious error - it'd be heresy).
      If it's any error then John MacArthur is a false teacher. Ie, he opposes infant baptism. Why? Because he claims he can't find one specific instance in the Bible where God tells us to do so, despite the fact that we do find instances in the Bible where "all the household" was baptized. Does that make him a false teacher?
      But wait, there's more: he preaches DISPENSATIONALISM, which is a departure from Christian Orthodoxy. And while you can give him a pass over infant baptism, this one's very serious. What we believe about the end times will determine our actions and MacArthur's definitely teaching falsehood here. So much so, that in the 1999 Ligonier Conference, which was focused on End Times, John MacArthur wasn't even invited because RC didn't want to promote a FALSE DOCTRINE. I recommend you listen to it - the series is under "Conferences" in Ligonier's website.
      As far as Joel Osteen, I've found a few errors but he's more Calvinist than you might think: he preaches that "God chose you before you chose Him" and things like that. He won't tell you that's the doctrine of election, but that's what he teaches. I watch him every week, but I get my Theology daily from the Bible first, and Ligonier is the first place I go to when in doubt. If you've walked long enough with the Lord there aren't many things you'll learn from Joel, though he'll keep reminding you of God's goodness, which is something we all need.
      I recommend you to listen to Joel when you're a little down, but for deep theology, eschatology, etc, other than the Bible, I recommend RC Sproul, Ken Gentry (for topics of eschatology in particular), Sinclair Ferguson and almost everyone on Ligonier. I don't recommend John MacArthur, since he seems to forget about the Gospel and his focus is how wretched we are (as if the Bible didn't say God HAS forgiven us already - can you imagine if your husband or father reminded you daily of all the mistakes you've made? That's what John MacArthur does. But God doesn't do that), and there's error in his teaching. And for the days you're down, I recommend Joel, since he has this ability to lift people up.
