I've removed one of the 3 pillows I usually sleep using. That was a week ago. Man did it mess with my lower back! Just wanted to say thanks - I’ve been trying to fix my posture for months now and this video really really helped! The effects were almost immediate for me after a three minute session :)
Wow. Thank you. So simple yet extremely effective. I suffered an injury to my back where I landed on the thoracic and upper spine . Took 50 days to recover and and 2 weeks later my back and lower limbs were neurologically sensitive. At my worse it took me 45 mins , with a cane, to walk a quarter of a mile. At one time I thought I wasn’t going to heal. Therapy, minimal paid meds, and lots of stretching and deciding to revisit scoliosis treatment got me to the point where I could attempt this exercise. Oh what a relief it is. Thanks again.
I did this while listening to the video again just to make sure I got everything. I looked in the mirror afterwards just to see if it did anything on the first try and OH MY GOSH! it's amazing, my shoulders are sitting about half way closer to where they should be! I didn't expect that much improvement on my first try! And like you said it's much easier to try to stand up right! Thank you so much for the tip!!!!!
Theres one proven technique to flatten and straighten your posture do notvuse pillow wgen sleeping at night thats 7 to 8 hours exercise. You can notice the difference in one month.
I'm going to do this twice a day for 3 months, taking a photo every day as well. I'll reply to this comment weekly with updates. At the end of the 3 months, I'll put the photos together to make a timelapse video, which I will post on my youtube channel. edit: video's out on my channel, there haven't been any changes. I think that it's because i spent the rest of the day in front of the computer. If you are gonna do these exercises, make sure to also keep good posture throughout the day or something.
1st Week: The pain I would feel right after doing this has stopped after the third day. Other than that, I don't feel much change (But to be honest I've only done it once a day, not twice like I said so). From now on I'll try to do some wall angels and some other exercises along with this.
@@inexplicabro by the way do you put ur lower and upper back flat through the wall? And do your shoulders touch the wall or not cuz I'm struggling with that
@@YasmineAsaadd My lower and upper back do touch the wall. My shoulders are rounded so they don't exactly touch the wall properly, but I lift them and kinda do wall angels to make them touch the wall, but I don't think that's necessary as in the video he doesn't specify that the shoulders need to touch the wall.
Totally ! I felt the same only watched three videos and my anxiety was gone..it’s cuz he’s so in detail and such a nice voice, easy listening to him explain things, not too much information and really helpful. Just his overall personality as well.
I’m very happy I found this, in just two days my lower back has returned to a straight back posture, now all I have to worry about is my upper back, this exercise is a life saver
My partner tells me all the time I need to "straighten up". I'm aware of how poor my posture is and I think I've found a solution. I just did three minutes of my lower back flat against the wall. My head is many inches from the wall so I know it's really bad. Thank you for giving me a chance at improving myself.
For everyone wondering if this exercise is worth doing, YES, IT IS! After a week of doing it regularly i got rid of rounded shoulders, and my back is straighter than ever. So stop complaining 'bout your bad posture and do this exercise. You' ll see results in no time.
Thank you. I’m in my mid 60’s and having spent 40+ years in jobs that involved sitting at a desk and on phones and I have a really bad posture so I shall start doing this from today. Appreciate you taking the time to post it on UA-cam. Kind regards
Only been a week and a half and already I can now do this exercise. Used to feel slight numbness in my back just below the shoulder blades, this is gone too! Thanks Upright Health
Thanks so much for sharing this information, I am nearly 50 and my desk job has taken its toll on my body. My thoracic spine is stiff and I have constant upper back pain between the shoulder blades. I am keeping everything crossed that I have found a fix! I have just completed my first 3 minutes and boy I felt it. With increasing screen time this is a major challenge for the developed world, I just walk around me office and see the forward head tilt from near enough everyone.
I just want to say thank you for not giving up. 10 years of back pain and finally found someone to help. I knew my muscles were responsible but didnt have a club where to start. First 100$ i make im getting your program !
gonna be back here everyday until i see results! day 1: just found this video, and i’ve had bad posture for a long time, but i’ve been getting a lot of general self-improvement done, so i figured why not fix my posture? my back feels good after it, looking forward to doing it again day 2: i came back. did it again, my back feels good. i’m gonna try sleeping with only one pillow tonight
Didn’t realize how weak my middle back muscles were until I tried this exercise for the first time. They were feeling sore and fatigued soon after I started. Definitely going to keep doing this just to at least strengthen my back
Simple, straightforward and easy to remember. I have watched a few exercises but they feels overly complicated. This is probably the only one i will remember and try it.
If this will fix both the neck posture and the curve of the back i am starting it today! Edit: so it’s been a week now I haven’t noticed that much of change on my back but i feel maybe my neck has gotten a bit( really small) better
i tried it for the first time tonight and i’m telling you i didn’t know my upper back and neck could feel like this. it felt amazing the first time i did it.
Well, I have to say, I was a bit skeptical. And that was not easy. But after just one session, you're 100% right, I can feel my posture wanting to fix itself! I will be adding this to my daily routine, a few times a day, as I sit in front of a PC all day for work. Thanks, Matt!
This absolutely works. I've been a competitive ballroom dancer for decades. I've always suffered from bad posture. In the last few months I've had a neck problem. My physio gave me this exercise. Almost immediately, it sorted my dancing posture. This absolutely works, and I do it for 5 minutes at least, 6 times per day. The presentation here is excellent. My physio told me off at first because I was just tilting my head back . I make a " double chin" , and keep it while getting my head against the wall . I just wish I'd seen this 20 years ago. I'd have done better ! I had lots of lessons from all sorts of professional teachers, but none of them came close to fixing it
Dude, out of all the videos I’ve found, yours might be the best efficient one! Even for five minutes I immediately saw and feel a difference! How I eat, drink, talk, everything!! It’s really been debilitating for me so I can’t thank you enough man :)
This is really awesome, the first time I do this and my traps and mid back feel way less tight. Also able to turn my neck around further, gonna keep doing this when I wake up and before I go to bed, thanks!
Wow, this is definitely harder than I thought it would be! I really feel it in the mid-back, and I feel like I cannot tuck my chin enough. Gonna keep it up, for sure! A straighter posture not only makes you taller, it makes you look more confident, too! The hunched over look is definitely not a good look! Thanks for the video!
amazing exercise, I just started doing this exercise and I already can feel the muscles are working, I am suffering from hunch back and possible scoliosis.
@@lajosrab4734 Much, much better. I still do this a couple of times a week in the morning. At first I had trouble staying in it for 30 second or so but it got easier fast. After the targeted muscles got strong enough, it wasn't hard to keep a good posture like it was before finding this excercise. Just keep at it and it will make a difference.
@@onana947 Around 2-3 weeks, if I remember correctly. It's not a silver bullet that will fix everything just by itself. You need to also make a conscious effort to keep an upright posture which will also get easier with time. Good luck!
This felt incredible. On my first try I really felt all my muscles working, they stretched and I actually had trouble breathing, probably because my torso was in the right position in front after years of being without any work. I will try to do this multiple times every day because its getting critical with my back and people are making uncomfortable comments about my posture.
@@oolala53 I was doing it for like a month and actually felt that I am walking more straight up. I have stoped like with all the other exercises and now I am trying to start doing it again becuase I feel that I am back where I started and I feel bad about it. But it probably depends on your own will. Good luck if you start!
Thank you. Just tried this and honestly, it was tough. Made is 2.17 minutes only. Had to keep reminding myself to push my lower back against the wall, shoulders back, chin down a bit...Could definitely feel the muscles wondering what the heck was going on.
I just tried doing this exercise and the immediate effect I can feel is actually insane, I stand much more upright! This is probably very short term and as my muscles relax again I will slouch a bit more again, but for now it's a very similar feeling to when you stand in a doorway and push your arms towards the outside against the frame of the door. When you do that for a minute and then step out of the doorway, your arms will feel like they're levitating so I think this is a similar effect now :D Can definitely see this make long term improvements for my posture though, thanks a lot!
I love this! Thanks Matt for providing such simple yet effective techniques. Often don't even notice that am "slumping" while sitting or standing... but if I catch a glimpse of myself in a mirror or window, I can clearly see it. I am a guitar player ("classical nylon string") and I know I slouch doing that too. I want to see if I can improve my "playing posture" using this technique as well. Update: Well, I've been working on this for about 11 days now... Doing at least two 3.5 minute sessions every day. While I still can't touch the back of my head to the wall, I'm slowly getting closer. The biggest improvement I seeing (actully "feeling") is when am away from the wall and simply walking or standing, I'm beginning to get a sense of what my posture is doing and can feel when I'm close to getting it right. And that feeling is a good and positive one. So I'll keep working on it. I'm hoping that after a couple more weeks, I can actually begin to touch my head to the wall (without "cheating") but I'm not going to lock myself into an absolute time frame. I'll get there when I get there but will be happy to feel the progress in improved posture.
when i first started i could definitely feel it, working a little but because of my bad habits its really keeping me back ( slouching on chairs) for example. Really gotta work on fixing these problems aswell if im to really help myself
I am sitting on the computer for 9-12 hours a day purely gaming and I've noticed that my posture has gotten worse over time. I am starting the exercise tomorrow and I'll be doing it for 1 month. I'll make sure to update every week. Update 1: So, the first week passed. The first 2 days were pretty hard. My back muscles, traps and triceps were pretty sore, but now I am pretty comfortable doing it. Also, I feel that I am standing much straighter. Looking forward to week 2.
@@blank7940 Unfortunately I forgot to update on week 2 and week 3, but I managed to do the exercises for the whole month. After week 1 my back was really sore because I was doing the exercises 2 times a day, but I wanted to slow things down for the second week so I did them only once per day. After the second week passed I decided to do them twice a day again but this time there was little to no soreness. Only on week 3 I felt my posture was better and I was standing straighter. I also improved my sitting posture. Now it feels natural to me to have my feet flat on the ground and my back being straight. Week 4 was a breeze.
You gave me the motivation and the tools to fix my posture. I’ve been working on it for a month now and I’ve gotten to the point where I can hold good posture, now I just have to make it my resting postion. My dad would tell me to stand up straight, but what does that mean? Now I know, you are the chad king my brother.
Two days in and I'm still unable to touch the wall with my head...I was more forward than I thought! I'm amazed at the change in my posture already though. Thank you very much for sharing...3yrs ago!
Dear Sir, thanks for sharing this lovely exercise. It looks very easy when you demonstrate but it's really tough to perform. Anyways, I shall continue doing it till I get rid of my stiff and hunch back. One more point Sir. Your commentry and presentation style is absolutely fantastic. It's a pleasure to listen to you. Best regards Girish
You'll probably not see this but my mom said I was growing a hunchback slowly and slowly over time and i could see it especially since my screen time on my phone displayed 11 hours, so I was searching "How to fix posture" and your video popped up, as I'm typing this I just finished the exercise standing thing you showed us and I already feel lighter and this motivates me to do this everyday and cut my screen time, Thank You!
Matt. You're a skilled communicator. I live in South America and teach Communication. Your style is relaxed; yet convincing. Congratulations. I've had a lumbar transforaminal epidural steroid injection and it's challenging not to lean forward.
Just did it for the first time it really hurt my chin to pull it in and was a little hard swallowing but even doing it once improved the tiniest bit, hope it works!!
I removed my Rembrandt originals from my wall to try this. Very useful! If you do this right, you can certainly feel those muscles along the spine lengthening along the back of your neck. So fancy...
I have the velvet Rembrandt with the bull dogs shooting pool.Perhaps his most favorite work as the guy at the flea market said as he sold it to me. I only paid 25 k for this but I’m sure will be worth millions soon.
Tried this exercise, my 1st time and saw immidiate results! Years of having a hunchback gone!! Im on day 3 now and walking straight up it feels amazing!
Alright I just thought I'd comment this because I'm amazed. I've had a bump on the back of my neck due to bad forward head posture for about 2 years and I was insecure about it. So I tried this exercise for 3 minutes straight and I noticed my shoulders were in the proper position. I went to the bathroom to look and my bump was completely gone. I will be doing this daily to keep my posture. That's one less insecurity to worry about. :)
Matt, Thank you so much for your patience and thoroughness in getting this Kyphosis correction information out there. I ve been researching exercises for my Mom's posture for over a year, and I was often met with rolling eyes and "daughter annoying me" resistance. Motivation and cooperation...thank you for your wonderful presentation, keeping it simple and empathetic. So appreciated :)

I was prepared to scoff at this until I tried and then heard the snap, crackle, pop in my neck and upper back. This is fantastic!!! No more computer back for me. My wife and girlfriend will be very happy. 😂
It seems like almost every UA-cam expert has different recommendations on how to and how not to treat this problem. How is the layperson to know which to follow?
You are so excellent my husband and I are 80 and 81 years old we’re feeling a little bit should I say the exercises feel a little bit daunting but we’re going to try it we would just love if you would address the senior citizens and tell us not to be discouraged I’d love to contribute to your channel so please keep them rolling on the posture because we ain’t looking good right now😛
Great exercise. I used this with my tech clients quite a bit. Also, a very simple way to bring attention to your posture, every 30” or so look away from you screen and look out a window at something as far away as possible. Helps eye fatigue and telling the body to reset your posture. This is a very helpful easy exercise. Use it.
This doesn't solve anterior pelvic tilt. But the reason you do this with your low back flat against the wall is to make sure you train spinal extension in the thoracics WITHOUT allowing for any anterior pelvic tilt compensation.
Great video! There is also a slight variation on this. As you lean against the wall raise your arms up above your head and take your hands/knuckles and put them against the wall . That will further strengthen and pull the back muscles. This is from a different video I learned from UA-cam. Thanks.
Quick question: Do posture straps/braces work or are they just a crutch? And if they do, what type is the best to buy? Thanks for this video, I've implemented this in my daily routine twice a day and hope that I will start to see results in a couple of months. I know it won't be overnight.
Holy mackerel! This is incredible!! My back/posture felt immediate results. Can’t wait to make it become part of my daily routine. Thank you for sharing this video!!!
Thank you so much for your videos. I'm getting stronger & feeling better thanks to your wonderful & compassionate video exercises. It would have cost me too much to go to a Physical Therapy facility to correct my muscular flaws. I found a sturdy chair in the dumpster that a remodeling restaurant threw out! Almost as good as the walls you lean against. You are awesome for helping us.
Love how simple and brief the advice was. I’m getting sore around my collar bone from doing this, should I need to find another exercise for my shoulders before returning to this?

Wow.
0:18 I thought that was something quite different for a second!
I thought I was the only one who saw it.....and started scrolling the comments to check if another person saw it
i had to go back like three time to clarify what i was seeing
what is that???
Lol
😂😂😂
Thank you for this training style man. You are honest and friendly without ego i think. Good job respect !
Theres one proven technique to flatten and straighten your posture do notvuse pillow wgen sleeping at night thats 7 to 8 hours exercise. You can notice the difference in one month.
No gym no pill no sweat no wasted time
@@edlopez4797 did it work for u?
@Evo Courses This is such a pathetic way of thinking.
Yall never update til the end
@@YasmineAsaadd Let's see.
This dude is so chill watching this cured my anxiety
Totally ! I felt the same only watched three videos and my anxiety was gone..it’s cuz he’s so in detail and such a nice voice, easy listening to him explain things, not too much information and really helpful. Just his overall personality as well.
“Beautiful piece of wall” -subscribed because of this. Thanks for sharing

Wall goals.

Step number 1: Play good, 3-4 minute song
Step number 2: Lean to fancy wall just like in the video
Step number3: Close eyes and relax
This BEAUTIFUL wall
I did it my first time today, and it actually felt better afterwards
First 100$ i make im getting your program !
gonna be back here everyday until i see results!
day 1: just found this video, and i’ve had bad posture for a long time, but i’ve been getting a lot of general self-improvement done, so i figured why not fix my posture? my back feels good after it, looking forward to doing it again
day 2: i came back. did it again, my back feels good. i’m gonna try sleeping with only one pillow tonight
Hey what are your redults, why you stoped writting
@@ignited8074 how is it going
You seem like a really nice guy, I like your voice and style of videos.
How's it going after 7 months?
Umm it’s been 11 months so how’s it been ?
i tried it for the first time tonight and i’m telling you i didn’t know my upper back and neck could feel like this. it felt amazing the first time i did it.

He was right about what he said when u lift off the wall. I feel like I'm stuck in the perfect posture. 😌
Sav Pal how is it after 1 year? Did it make a big difference? Thanks.
This is really awesome, the first time I do this and my traps and mid back feel way less tight. Also able to turn my neck around further, gonna keep doing this when I wake up and before I go to bed, thanks!
Did iy work
I’ve been started this workout since 2 month ago and It really works.thank you so much
Wow, this is definitely harder than I thought it would be! I really feel it in the mid-back, and I feel like I cannot tuck my chin enough. Gonna keep it up, for sure! A straighter posture not only makes you taller, it makes you look more confident, too! The hunched over look is definitely not a good look! Thanks for the video!

@@reallyeffingcooltechnodudehow much time did it take you to significantly reduce your hunchback?
@@onana947 Around 2-3 weeks, if I remember correctly. It's not a silver bullet that will fix everything just by itself. You need to also make a conscious effort to keep an upright posture which will also get easier with time. Good luck!
This felt incredible. On my first try I really felt all my muscles working, they stretched and I actually had trouble breathing, probably because my torso was in the right position in front after years of being without any work. I will try to do this multiple times every day because its getting critical with my back and people are making uncomfortable comments about my posture.
Did you get past the initial excitement and keep at it?
When you do that for a minute and then step out of the doorway, your arms will feel like they're levitating so I think this is a similar effect now :D Can definitely see this make long term improvements for my posture though, thanks a lot!
hey man how is your posture
I love this! Thanks Matt for providing such simple yet effective techniques.
Often don't even notice that am "slumping" while sitting or standing... but if I catch a glimpse of myself in a mirror or window, I can clearly see it.
I am a guitar player ("classical nylon string") and I know I slouch doing that too. I want to see if I can improve my "playing posture" using this technique as well.
Update:
Well, I've been working on this for about 11 days now...
Gonna do this once a day for 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Will post results from time to time
Mersh how’s it looking ?
How is it going?
when i first started i could definitely feel it, working a little but because of my bad habits its really keeping me back ( slouching on chairs) for example.

Looking forward to week 2.
update?

Alright I just thought I'd comment this because I'm amazed. I've had a bump on the back of my neck due to bad forward head posture for about 2 years and I was insecure about it.
Use it.
I think you meant look out every 30’ (minutes) instead of 30” (seconds). I would never get anything done if I stopped every 30 seconds. Thx
Is this taking anterior pelvic tilt into consideration?
This doesn't solve anterior pelvic tilt. But the reason you do this with your low back flat against the wall is to make sure you train spinal extension in the thoracics WITHOUT allowing for any anterior pelvic tilt compensation.
