the calligraphy pens probably work fine, it just takes awhile to puncture the top. the clicking you're hearing usually means it's in place but you have to push down on it more once it's in there so that the ink capsule gets punctured and lets the flow of ink out the quill tip if that makes sense. it takes awhile to get used to the first time.
I would try holding the pen differently with the calligraphy kit. Those pens are difficult to get used too in all honesty . I had to keep changing the way I held it until I could get it to write properly .
Hi this is a super old video but if anyone is here in the comments I'd just like to say: with those calligraphy ink pens usually the instructions say to press it really hard into the bottom so it breaks the seal thing so the ink can flow

I don't know how u can wear anything out of a thrift shop without washing it 1st as they don't wash them b4 the go on2 the shop floor,I'm surprised u haven't caught head lice,crabs or scabies yet I know 1 man's junk is supposed 2 b another man's treasure but at least wash it 1st+I would defo not b putting some strangers earrings in my ear either that cannot sanitary unless they were bought +neva worn

I also have calligraphy pens and you first have to put the tip in some water to make the ink work or something. Maybe that’s why?
When it comes to calligraphy you have to hold it down for a few seconds so the ink will flow into the tip
i know i’m super late but for calligraphy you have to write kind of backwards, the side where ink comes out should face away from you as you write.
