- A programme of works are taking place over Christmas on the Transpennine Route Upgrade. A bridge replacement at Osmondthorpe Lane near Neville Hill Depot in Leeds will leave the road closed until December 31. Meanwhile, the pylons for OLE are now in place at Cottingley, Churwell and up to the edge of Morley Station. The pylons for electric wires have also been put up at the mothballed White Rose Station. #train #railway #tru #station #transpennineexpress
Great video Sarah.
Plenty happening all over the place. It could be interesting watching them lift the new bridge deck in at Neville Hill. I might have to nip down.
merry christmas and thank you very interesting videos
Thanks Sarah! Have a great christmas and new years.
white rose should have been built with the centre, abssolute brill vid Sarah
Used to go into the sheds and see visiting steam trains over 50 years ago 🚂🚂
You can still get a decent view of the depot from the park. Not quite as interesting looking at 91s as steam locos, but still worth a visit.
WOW, an impressive video, featuring that osmondthorpe road bridge of whom now being reconstructed/replaced as part of th vital yet crucial upgrade.... A friend of mine - who's also a fellow member of specialist autism services charity like I am, lives near there - osmondthorpe road bridge of course,
And great to see a stretch of the same transpennine route at cottingley, as well as across churwell viaduct in this video, as well as morley station too.... I myself (with autism) happen to live in morley, even near churwell, especially to where the railway line passes through out there.... I also have another friend who lives somewhere in churwell,
Hopefully during the new year 2025, further TRU works will eventually take place.... I do believe the footbridge at cottingley station might have to be risen higher - before wires of the electrification are installed, as well as the geldard road bridge - further to the north of cottingley station, might also be reconstructed higher, so that electrification wires can pass underneath said geldard road bridge,
Also, I do believe cottingley station is going to be replaced by 'white rose station' from when it's eventually built as part of the route upgrade..... even when electrification passes through morley station, I bet it'll be an extra challenging task for workers on installing wires through the incredibly long & winding morley tunnel that passes beneath the hilly old market town centre, en-route to batley and onto dewsbury too,
Osmondthorpe road bridge isn't the only structure being reconstructed, so I'm positive geldard road bridge might also be undergoing the same treatment out there as we speak.
It really will be a huge transformation (in the making) from when the entire transpennine route is fully electrified, as well as vitally yet crucially upgraded too.
Wow, you're lucky to live really close to where lots of interesting railway engineering works will take place in the next year or two. I hope the TRU will have a very positive impact on places like Morley and the wider West Yorkshire area. When you think that the route connect key cities like Manchester and Leeds, this investment was long overdue for the North of England.
I’m not really sure why White Rose station exists. It seems too close to its two neighboring stations
Cottingley will close when the new station opens.
@@rikkilamb Yes, but that plan means moving both stations much closer together when they're already not very far apart. A lot of money could have been saved by not changing Cottingley.
Get yourself to Huddersfield Viaduct 4th Jan for big crane and bridge install
Thanks for that - I'll take a look. I see there are quite a few closures of Bradford Road in Hudds on weekends through Jan
Pylons extend to Dragon bridge, saw them from a bus the other dau.
White Rose station should be re named white elephant, its too far from the few remaining shops and some indicate that it will never get finished.
