AR gas style has the ability to be quite while going into battery as well, instead of hitting the bolt catch button just pull the charging handle and control the release speed 🤷♂️
The big issue people run into with large frame ARs is the fact that there's no mil spec for them, so you end up with some issues revolving around your bolt carrier group... Everyone says they're not reliable... that's a load of crap. As long as you're running with a bcg that's headspaced to your barrel extension and an adjustable gas block, you'll be fine. My personal build LR308 is pieced together from three different manufacturers (upper, lower and barrel+bcg) all three manufacturers followed the Gen 1 DPMS pattern specifically, and it's given absolutely no problems. People also end up using the wrong mags for their AR10, which causes a ton of feeding issues. I also use a Smith Vortex on my AR10, with a US Optics 5-25x50, and a trijicon RMR mounted at the 12 o'clock on the tube. Scope stays at ~8-10x unless I'm spotting. Line up target with dot, drop behind scope, easiest sight picture acquisition ever. Between the rifle length gas system, rifle length buffer tube, and adjustable gas block, followup shots are no problem. It cycles reliably with or without a can, though I don't typically run one on that gun (ergo the Smith Vortex Flash Hider.) Ammo selection has a lot to do with reliability in AR10s as well. I run MK118 LRs, the 175 grain gives more than enough pressure and dwell time to cycle reliably, and they hold sub MOA groups out of a 1-10 twist 18" HBAR. Milspec triggers are the way to go in an AR10. Just pull the trigger group and run a dremel with a CLOTH buffing wheel and polishing compound over the parts of the trigger group that touch one another. You'll end up with a smooth, crisp break without the issues that come with a 2.5 lb competition trigger.
I think my gas gun is every bit as accurate as my bolt gun. Just put a proof research barrel on it and it’s just a tac driver. You can 1/2 minute that thing all day long. Especially at typical engagement distances.
You the guy on robs channel recently..? Awsome blaster I love that chassis and color…just got the old fn spr 24” heavy barrel 1:12 mod70 action with the non fluted barrel and solid non adjustable Macmillan stock…1” tapered to .980” and what a shooter….3”s and .5”s allday…168gmm factory stay on a quarter easy but I’ve got 110gr varmageddons and v max cranking 3490fps and just as accurate but 10 times more devastating and no recoil…but with no threads or brake blast is incredible…but you fire 1 from my dd5v3 16” with 419 hellfire even in wide open you feel like a door charge went off in your head…it shoots almost as good when in dmr configuration…love .308 and load many different styles almost everyday…preciate ya brother….matt in ky
I built my gun a 308 and it shoots sub MOA at 1/4 or less . I had a Police sniper shoot it and he put 5 rounds in 1 hole at 100 yards. It's a Tikka Action heavy barrel threaded 1 in a 11 twist and a manners stock a M1 mark 4 Leopold front focal plain mill dot 4 to 25 power and I use a 168 grain federal gold metal match
What are your thoughts on the Remington 20” 700 Police LTR .308 with a 4-16x44 scope threaded for suppressor and a harris bipod? Purpose: Do it all hunting and plinking rifle out to 3-400 yards. Apart from being budget friendly.
From National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) A department with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 SWAT team has 4 designated snipers (two teams of two) on paper. In reality it can range from 1-4 but there should always be a SWAT team with either a designated sniper or someone with a sniper certification if not designated (depending on budget).

.308 cal, match grade trigger group, precision rifled barrel, bipod, thumb grip, silencer, and you have a fully capable sniper rifle. Good luck.
What glass is that??

They’re solid guns but newer and more modular stuff has come out since then.

So do most departments have a designated sniper/designated marksmen
Yes.

Don't use derogatory terms for people doing us all a public service. Drop that term please Dale.
You tried to be edgy and sound cool but you failed very very very badly, Dale. There's always a Dale 🙄🤣
