    Glad I found your podcast. Pulled the pin in 2021 after 30 years at two Los Angeles County agencies, 25 of those on SWAT, which was the best part of my career. Thanks for the fun walk down memory lane.

      I’m in intake processing (DS trainee). What does it take and how many years to make SWAT

    • @Mounty621
      @Mounty621 2 місяці тому +2

      @@Marcofreshone It really depends on your agency. Some agencies you have to be off probation and have at least two years on the job. Other larger agencies with a full-time team, it can take anywhere from 10-14 years for "your turn." I would say the best thing you can do is show that you can make sound decisions and think well under pressure. Maturity is everything. Join either your state tactical association or the National Tactical Officers Association and attend as much training as you can, either the department sending you or you spending your own time and money. Find a good mentor on your team and donate your time to train with SWAT. I'm sure your team is looking for bad guys for their training days. Learn to shoot well, but be a thinker first.

      @@Mounty621 thank you sir. I appreciate your feedback. It sounds just like how I imagined. If I do make it into the LASD. I have to put in work and hold myself up to an elite standard.

      @@Marcofreshone Even moreso with LASD SEB. That unit is a very tight unit and it is ALL by word of mouth and who you know. It usually takes about 10-15 years to get into SEB. Good luck. Stay safe.

    Thank you for sharing. I live in Southern California and see car chases and hear about the swat teams but never understand the complex behind the scenes. I know a lot of officers and have so much respect for them. I can tell you due to personal issues that I don't trust all of officers as some have huge chips on their shoulders. Most are great guys and don't get paid enough for putting their lives on the line. I think about officers everytime I see them. If I'm in a place where I walk by them I always say thank you for your service and please stay safe.

      @@DBBee Special Enforcement Bureau. They’re the Swat element of the specialized bureau comprised of K9, ESD Medics, Hazmat, and Bomb squad. They instruct a plethora of units and agencies from my Department to DEVGRU, Seals, US Marshals, you name it. I say they are some of the best operators in modern urban assaults in the US. They run so many operations a year and have tons of experience.

    Best damn Swat people on earth, LA county and LAPD. Second only to maybe French GIGN or the Germans. I was on a "boy scout" swat team compared to this man and his colleagues. I live in orange county and am glad to know we have these guys out there. I'll gladly pay for police/swat funding.
    In this world, we need em. We need Swat teams.
    I flew overseas once from LAX. The LAPD
    Swat dudes were moving through the crowd.... I got the hell out of the way. Just a badass presence.....AR's on the ready.
    Singapore is top notch too. I was sleeping on an airport bench, on way to wife's relatives, and Singapore PD Tac woke me up with weapons up. Yup...".here's my passport sir. Moving!"
    Best podcast ever guys. Keep it up!

    I was thinking of getting some gang tattoo sleeves on both arms and becoming a career criminal mostly focused on roadside robbery, late night and early morning burglary, and randomly kidnapping people and throwing them in cages. I have decided that becoming a cop will allow me to accomplish all of my goals legally. I have a below average level of intelligence so I’ll easily get hired and fit in. Awesome!
