Thanks for the part link. I have at least one controller with a bad chip and didn't even consider that the chip might still be available. Got some on the way.
Wolfmann! Look at you go! Soldering like a champion! Im glad to see the wick pointer help. Look at how you flew through the repair. Great fix and excellent video buddy! I have done the same with the heat shrink. This is how I learned when I bought a 20+ lot of nes controllers and fixed every single one.
Thank you, thank you!! I really appreciate all your help and your excitement for my videos!! It really makes me want to go and fix a bunch of stuff right now!!! 🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
Hell yeah brother!!! Great repair all around! Side note, your soldering skills were much better than what was on display in our video! (Joe claims to be a novice at the time of the video...not buying it). Also, love the helping hands, totally worth buying those! Excellent work and great video!!! 💪
Thank you!! I appreciate that!! If it wasn’t for your video I wouldn’t have know how to repair this controller!! Joe did a great job in your video!! I’ve never used solder paste before it looks like it’s hard to control. The helping hands are excellent if you remember to tighten the screws🤣🤣🐺🐺
My advice about the cord is to look into 8Bitdo's wireless controller kit and consider turning it into a wireless NES controller, but if you'd prefer wired controllers, that's cool, too.
@@wolfmanrepairs I took a quick look at the DIY kit on their site. I think it was a swap in replacement board. I guess it wouldn't be compatible with this fix, but I guess the intent was to make it as simple to do as possible.
@@wolfmanrepairs the 8 bit basement also has a cool video were they put a led light in a nes controler I did it to a couple of mine I evean ended up putting two leds in it evan though you only need about one But I wanted to try at least and see what I got and it worked
Yeah thats true I could have done that but then I wouldn’t have the little crimp on pins at the end of the wire to put through the board, but I guess I could have just tinned the wire. Maybe next time I will cut the wire 🐺😁

Awesome!! I was surprised they were still making them too!! Glad I could help!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Great soldering job.
Thank you!!! I’m slowly getting better!! 🐺🐺😁😁

Thanks!! I’m going to have to check that out!! That would be pretty awesome having an OEM wireless controller!! 🐺🐺😁😁

Ah Ok. Still sounds like an awesome idea!! 🐺🐺😁😁
I had to do that to a nes controller that I got from eBay I bought two chips in case I need another or I messed something up
I hear that!! That’s why I bought 5!! I figured I could mess up 4 and still be ok!! 🤣🤣🐺🐺

pro tip: just cut the cable. makes it a bit shorter, but it looks pristine afterwards.
That’s true. The damage was pretty close to the controller. 🐺😁
Should have just cut the wire shorter better fix
