A great video, including how to dig yourself out of common holes that everyone slips into from time to time. This shows new pilots how to work to recover instead of thinking since they're not like other perfect demonstrations that they should give up naval ops and ragequit DCS. Thanks Iain and Rob.
Thanks for this, I was able to land....but taxiing to the catapult to go up again....that differential braking had me all over the deck then into the drink
Your videos truly are the best tutorials to be found for the A4, the attention to detail and procedures precision in all your videos makes them a beautiful thing to behold.
Hi lain, I would like to thank you for all the amazing videos uploaded to your channel, my self and couple of my friends ended up buying same setup you got on your PC and it is amazing. 😊We were looking around your archived videos but unfortunately we couldnt find any video related to MSFS 2020 graphic settings and general settings for the Oculus quest 2 & PC, i appreciate it if you can assist the community with such request by making a video that can explain it all as you have the best professional setup videos out there. Thanks for all your efforts 🙏🏻
Thanks for your kind words. To be fair, I don't see myself as a particular expert in VR and certainly not in computer hardware - which is why I didn't provide a lot of specific advice about settings etc, in that video. The comments I made in that video - are about as far as I am prepared to go in giving advice about how to set up your system. I really do think that there is enough variation in personal preference that you are better to arrive at settings that work for you by trial and error than by following my advice (or anyone else's for that matter). I wish you the joy of figuring it out though! If you want to continue the discussion offline, please feel free to come to my Discord server (there is a link in almost all of my videos).
I must have gotten lucky, my very first time I just came in and caught the #2 wire, however, I didn't call ATC, or do the race track. Probably made all the guys on the flight deck angry..
A request from an old Army ground pounder: The jargon is unfamiliar to some of us, sooo..could you skip all the acrnyms (or say whar they mean?). A BRC means nothing to me. Thanks.
I don't want to be picky, your videos are usually very informative, but would you do a case1 including the 5 mile holding pattern? Also how to do a case 3 in an analogue scooter?
Well, I would be happy to produce such a video, but unfortunately I do not have the skill or knowledge to fly it. If anyone is interested in showing the rest of us how to follow both of those procedures, they should DM me on my Discord channel and we'll figure how to get the video made.
Flying the 5 mile Marshall stack holding pattern is pretty easy - orbit counter clockwise at 2000', 250kn putting the carrier at the 3-o'clock position, if you visualize the orbit as a clock. When you get to around the 9 o'clock position (or just before), fly out on a head of the reciprocal of the BRC + 30 degrees (i.e. BRC=255, reciprocal = 075, so fly heading 105). You do a descending left hand turn with the goal of hitting the "initial point", 3NM behind the carrier, aligned with the BRC heading, at (300-350knots) and at 800 feet ASL. A-4 NATOPS calls for passing just to the right of the boat - probably a cockpit visibility thing, then you enter the overhead break and proceed with the normal CASE 1 landing pattern. I'm sure I got some details wrong, but join the A-4 Discord server and lots of people will be around to set both of us straight on the details.
Hello, from your question Sidekick and I were motiviated to make a Marshall pattern video, which he just released here: ua-cam.com/video/miRIlfJ20sQ/v-deo.html I hope that helps answer your question and show doing a case 1 with the 5 mile holding pattern, cheers
Feels like you're right on the edge trying to keep on AOA and speed while not dropping out of the sky in this aircraft. Nose angle seems really high too. Wonder how realistic that is...
Yeah, everything you said plus it's a challenge to see over the nose. In order to keep from falling out of the sky with the APC I find that I have to come in with fairly low fuel state, usually 1500 lbs or less. I also turned the "cockpit shake" down lower in the Special Options tab in DCS - with the default values the aircraft is shaking so much you can't read the instruments.

Well that was more or less the point so I'm glad that it came across!
You're upping your game on the videos! Great tips in here!
Thanks. Gotta give credit to Rob for the expertise on this one.

good example of keeping cool, and making small corrections to complete your tasks successfully. great work hotbox :)
Great video Sidekick, it was a pleasure to collaborate on that with you
The pleasure was mine. Well flown.
Well done, as usual. Keep 'em coming, I'm learning as we go! Thanks for the content, I look forward to your vids and tutorials.
Thanks. Glad you're enjoying them.

Thank you so much for the kind words. Glad you are enjoying the A4
Whew. Nice vid. Nice trap. Good breakdown.
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
Awesome thanks! Going to get into some practice of this
Rock on!
Nice Trap and Nice populated Carrier Deck!!!!
Thank you, sir. Have to give Hotbox the credit for that as well, it was his mission file
Thank you for making this video tutorial for us.
My pleasure 😊

I enjoy this mod a lot
I take it APC is the secret to landing the Scooter? When flying manual approaches, as soon as I get that on-speed donut I fall like a brick.
Yes, that sounds right ;-) Hah! I do find that APC helps A LOT!

According to some pilots who have flown the aircraft - right on the money, apparently.

Remember, it's better to die than to look bad. Nice trap.
Also better to burn out than to fade away, I am told...
