I like it cause it sounds like a happy celebration. Red Wine is kind of sad, when you know it's about alcoholism. Much like good banjo music is about suffering but has a happy sound.

To the doubter who thinks this is a fake: FYI this is a highly tuned tenor pan, a percussion instrument made from oil drums. The origin is from the island of Trinidad in the Caribbean. There is a whole lot to be told about it. As an example, there are steel orchestras on the island and they practice in their different domains called panyards. Their musical talent ranges from pop to the classics and a variety of local compositions (soca) This instrument is now recognized worldwide

Why the steel drum soothes my soul I will never know but know this. Your music has gotten me through some hard times @danodrum. Thanks from a friend in Michigan who needed some help. Keep on a playing in the band. I will always be here just a swaying to the beats. Tell your band mates the same. O and Thank you so much for the beautiful beats.
I'll never cease to be amazed by this instrument. I can understand all these notes coming from different sizes of, say can. Or from hitting different lengths of string or wire. But all these notes come out of one vessel!

What a sensational sound those steel drums are ,I came a steel band in Blackpool twenty odd years ago near the war memorial oh my god the sound was absolutely amazing like manna from heaven the crowd kept cheering them on I simply didn't want to go home I was under a heavenly spell
Hi everyone, Thanks for your support and for enjoying my rendition of this amazing song! I wanted to address a question that some of you have had about a specific part of the video, around 0:28. At that point in the video, the audio is actually me playing the steel pan, but it was pre-recorded during a separate session. When I was putting together the video, I played along to my own pre-recorded track. Sometimes, there might be instances where I missed a trill (steel pan roll) or added a trill that wasn't originally in the recording. It's kind of like a steel drum-sync to my own studio recording, similar to how lip-syncing works in performances. I also want to mention that this was my first attempt at creating a music video-style recording. You know, the kind you see from popular artists where they combine their studio recording with a visual creation. As time went on, I definitely improved my skills in this aspect. I hope this clears things up a bit and gives you some insight into the process behind the video. Just to reiterate, the audio is indeed me playing. Thanks again for your support and understanding! Peace, Dano :)
I hope that you have had the opportunity to hear and witness a live performance by a steel orchestra. If not, then put it on your bucket list. You will be in another world..

This is great! Red Red Wine was the song that introduced me to UB40 and I have always loved the steel drums so this is perfect. Credit where credit is due Red Red Wine was originally written, performed, and recorded by Neil Diamond way back in 1967. This song and I are the same age.
I remember being in Orlando, Florida back in 1987, we stayed at a resort and everyone ate dinner together each night as someone played the steel drums, that was my first time hearing such an instrument and it was a very beautiful sound.
Why do i love the sound of this instrument so much
I like it cause it sounds like a happy celebration. Red Wine is kind of sad, when you know it's about alcoholism. Much like good banjo music is about suffering but has a happy sound.
