Back in the 80s my mom was an alcoholic, and you better believe she jammed out to this song almost every car trip. She used to pass out in my room while I was playing and wouldn’t wake up for anything, scaring the crap out of 6-year old me. Thankfully, she’s been sober since the mid-90s and is an awesome person whom I love to death.
My dad used to love this song, even if he didnt know what all those words meant, he felt the music! It reminds me of him and how awesome and cool he was. Now that i understand the lyrics i wish he was here so i could teach him the words and we could sing it together.
What makes you think he didn't know? I would hate if my kids thought I didn't know certain things just because they grew up and finally figured it out 😂
My jaw is on the floor! Im 37 and i would have swore the lead singers were not as white as me. The jamaican music just calls me!!. An as a little girl this song made me so happy. Id be dancing my ass off!!
Why can’t this come back so my generation and others to come can experience real music! Not a band I know today is completely live like this. Much loce
UB40.......Love that British group who openmindedly chose "reggae" ....gotta give the Brits credit for daring to "explore!".....for embracing different genres, embracing reggae music...look at their reggae concerts...tells a story one yet has to see here in the USofA! And yes, the gum-chewing lends reality to reggae's down-to- earth lyrics...Yah maan!
Not only one of the greatest reggae bands ever, they're also one of the greatest multi cultural groups ever. Truly talented. They're up there with the likes of The Wailers, Inner Circle, Third World, and Burning Spear.
One of the most genius lyrics i've ever heard, The part where astro comes in and Ali and robin sings meanwhile or behind his rap is absolutely phenomenal.
As a Trade union activists I congratulate the forty unemployed boys UB40 upon fighting unemployment through creativity and drama. I encourage all others to follow suit
I first heard this song when I was 9 years old and it was my favorite. It evokes sadness, disappointment, resignation, acceptance, humor, optimism...and much more.
I'm still here in 2021. My understanding of where the name for this group came from is they used to meet up in the Unemployment Benefits office and fill out Form UB40. That was the cover of the first album. Is this true? Love this sound!! Never gets old.
The band's name is UB40. Named after a British unemployment benefit form, pop-reggae band UB40 were formed in a welfare line in 1978, after a few jamming sessions a friend suggested the name cause not of the members had a job.
As far as I know this is the only song in history who got to number 1 after being played live 5 years later after it's release. That's how good this version is
Red, red wine goes to my head Makes me forget that I still need her so Red, red wine, it's up to you All I can do I've done Memories won't go, memories won't go Life is fine every time Thoughts of you leave my head I was wrong, now I find Just one thing makes me forget Red, red wine, stay close to me Don't let me be alone It's tearing apart my blue heart Life is fine every time Thoughts of you leave my head I was wrong, now I find Just one thing makes me forget Red, red wine, stay close to me Don't let me be alone It's tearing apart my blue heart Red red wine, you make me feel so fine You keep me rockin' all of the time Red red wine, you make me feel so grand I feel a million dollar when you're just in my hand Red red wine, you make me feel so sad Any time…
I love this song to bits. I played it over and over and again and again while I was travelling on an Ethiopian Airlines aeroplane going on holiday to my home country, Zimbabwe, from Heathrow Airport to Harare. It is such a beautiful song and very relaxing while travelling in an aeroplane. I also enjoyed this UB40 band's perfomance in Harare, Zimbabwe some years ago at our Sports Stadium in Harare. The Stadium was fully packed and many many young people from our neighbouring countries like South Africa, Zambia etc also came to seen the band.
Quelle belle chanson.... 🇫🇷👏🙏👍❤️❤️❤️
Sooooo many good peoples in there .. thanks for one of my best song of my life. I am 1988 born and this one is part of me. Be good all of you peoples. Have a nice day!!
Felipe García No, he's just mistaken. If you are old enough to remember ABC's Schoolhouse Rock, "I'm Just a Bill", (or The Simpson's parody, "I'm An Amendment To Be"), I had always had visions of a stereotypical black blues singer riffing in a recording studio. It was only a couple of years ago that I did some Googling and found that #1.) The original and parody versions were indeed sung by the same artist - Jack Sheldon (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Sheldon); and #2.) He is a well known jazz artist and isn't black. (Damn... I wish I had the Web when I was a kid and could look things up on a whim )

R.I.P Astro (The guy that did the rap in this song) You would always be remembered for generations to come. UB40 and the name Astro go together.
Crazy to google this song and Bob Marley gets the credit for the rap. I guess people think all Rasta's look the same. RIP Bob and Astro. 😢

fr tho just saw it, singing like a god and chewing is a nothing for this guy. clean mastermind moves right here
Soundtrack of early eighties! Mine att least. Minus the gum.

The band's name is UB40.

As far as I know this is the only song in history who got to number 1 after being played live 5 years later after it's release. That's how good this version is
Red, red wine goes to my head
Makes me forget that I still need her so
Red, red wine, it's up to you
All I can do I've done
Memories won't go, memories won't go
Life is fine every time
Thoughts of you leave my head
I was wrong, now I find
Just one thing makes me forget
Red, red wine, stay close to me
Don't let me be alone
It's tearing apart my blue heart
Life is fine every time
Thoughts of you leave my head
I was wrong, now I find
Just one thing makes me forget
Red, red wine, stay close to me
Don't let me be alone
It's tearing apart my blue heart
Red red wine, you make me feel so fine
You keep me rockin' all of the time
Red red wine, you make me feel so grand
I feel a million dollar when you're just in my hand
Red red wine, you make me feel so sad
Any time…
This is good but its not 'life is fine every time' its 'I'd have sworn that with time'
