I love that as we listen to her music, we can all envision a story of our own or interpret it in our own way. That's the awesome thing about her music.
I like how this lyric video goes through clockworks, because it's a good fit as Taylor describes how her plan succeeded with clocklike precision. I love how she's been putting out lyric videos for all of her newly available songs. They're all so professional. Before she did this, I didn't know that I could find a lyric video with clockworks (or a spinning wedding band) (or an engagment ring in a bubbling glass of champagne) so captivating to watch.
Johnny's idea to turn this into a music video revolving around a clocktower seems to be the kind of unexpected twist that Taylor could take when making a music video. I can see how Johnny gets there from seeing the clockworks, but with all of Johnny's extra details, that's a great imagination!
"Mastermind" is a masterpiece of lyrics-inspired-imagery and singing! So much so, that I don't really have the desire for a music video for it; the lyrics already paint vivid clips in my mind. But, if she made one, I'm sure I'd enjoy it too. At times, her singing voice takes on a royal, highbred tone, which projects power and confidence on the appropriate lines.
This video had me remembering numerous swifties commenting that when they first listen to new Taylor Swift songs, they often end up pulling out a dictionary. 😂 And then Jeremiah basically said he needs a dictionary for this song. It would have been so funny if Jeremiah had opened a dictionary! 🤣
The instrumentals were unusual, so when I first heard the opening instrumentals, I wondered how much I would like this song, but they are perfect for the lyrics and story. It makes me want a pop/rock opera album from Taylor. She teased operas with her "Reputation" album, and with her intertwined stories in "Cardigan", "August", and "Betty". I imagine her pop/rock opera would be right up there with (and hopefully better than) "Tommy", "The Wall", "Jesus Christ Superstar", and "Grease".
You two should watch some of her "Making of . . . " videos; I think they are a ton of them on UA-cam . . . They show you kinda HOW she writes her songs! 😉
Taylor's fans have been calling her a Mastermind for years, I might have done so a time or two.
You're journey into Swifties is such a beauty to watch xo

She does have a book where she writes down words she likes or phrases to write songs with. Shes incredible.

Other artists don't write their music on their own. They usually have 5 or more co-writers. Thanks so much for this gents.
