Not really? I enjoy her music but with the documentary coming out Taylor singing "I can do it with a broken heart" sounds so 'small' after remembering what Celine went through.

I remember watching the video when Katy Perry’s husband (Russell Brand) told her he wanted a divorce via text before a show. She was late but she came up, she nailed it. It is stunning what these performers can get through. As a flight attendant, I have had my melt downs behind the jetbridge door then, before opening it to go into the terminal, I have literally said, “show time” but it isn’t even close to what they go through. Amazing. Sad. But amazing.
That was so devastating I felt awful for her

I remember while watching the eras tour like the firt month or two she was crying in some songs she wrote for him and when the camera was up close I could see she was sad and tearing eyes but then in a blink of an eye she'd take a deep breath and covered with a smile.
This song screams: you never know what another person is going through…
And also, being “on top of the world” being a celebrity doesn’t mean you aren’t, sad, broken, depressed
I imagine it gets lonely when you’re on top of the world. Like you said, you never know what someone is going through. It’s a gut check for sure.

Yes her and Joe broke up in April last year when she started the eras tour in march last year and she was seen crying at a few of her shows because of the breakup so thats basically what this song is about and what the video is representing. :) Def gotta react to the whole album please.
She was dealing with loss of 6 yr relationship, the high of finally connecting with someone she had held a torch for for a decade (Matty) and the horrible crash of it (and wrath of a lot of fans about that relationship). So having mixed feelings about how the fans are treating your relationship and Matty independently to the point he says “I am out of here - it’s better for you if I am not in your life” and then ghosts her, can’t have been easy either. You know there were fans in those audiences who were on that very loud Matty Healy hate train and were actually celebrating the end of it. Yet she was clearly devastated by it based on the number of songs on the album about him. But she went out and gave them more than their monies worth every night.

Apparently her Florida concerts were hard for her she was crying while smiling on stage.

Thanks for understanding this, guys. Yes, they broke up during her tour. She’s only cancelled once due to thunderstorms in an open stadium. It would have been extremely dangerous for her to continue. She made sure that she stayed for an extra day so no one was missing out on anything. She was ridiculously sick in Singapore with a fever/coughing and she still performed. Can you imagine how badly the media would have crucified her if she cancelled for any other reasons? She hasn’t cancelled any of her Era’s concerts (except that thunderstorm), and prides herself on being there for the people who have made travel arrangements to see her. She doesn’t want to let anyone down. I saw her sitting at the piano during a livestream at N1-N2 and you could see the sadness on her face. I made a comment but no one agreed with me except for one person. I feel horrible that my thoughts were right. There’s videos on UA-cam showing her crying so other people have noticed but it’s REALLY awful that people are so insensitive about putting her pain on blast. Who does that to her? She’s such a beautiful sweetheart who loves her fans so much. I just hope that this time off (it was planned because her lead guitarist was having his first child and that he would be there to spend important time with his wife and baby). He’s been with her since her very beginning and I love that she planned her schedule around his baby’s birth. ❤❤

I just think she’s an amazing person who just wants love in her life and to make others happy. I hope Travis can handle these next 6 months of her tour and that she’s not there at his games like she was last year. Her job and the media have made any relationship nearly impossible because they give her zero respect or privacy. To follow her to the Caribbean is insane. The negative and inconsiderate media needs to move far away from her for good. 💯🙈

The first time I listened to this song I immediately thought about Katy Perry, when her husband sent her a message saying he want the divorce some minutes before she started a concert in Brazil, i think it was there. The video of her crying and gave all she had for the show. Her and now Taylor, reminds me that even though artist gives us joy, the suffer too.

You guys watched the movie though, that was filmed in August, she was probably so much better at that time, she probably reached out to Travis in some way at that point. But yeah, at the beginning of the tour we had no idea, she was smiling, laughing and yes, at some shows she got emotional during like champagne problems or other sad songs but most of us just thought like it's a sad song, she's a performer, she's in character etc...and didn't know those few moments were showing how she was really feeling...
That's what I think - she is sharing with us now how she did feel - Oh I just love this song; she's so inspirational to so many people

I remember how it felt going in to work after my dad passed, when she says "I can hold my breath" it hits home cause some days its all you can do to stop from letting it out til you can get some time alone to let it go. She is hella tough riding it out and singing love songs that just must grind her emotions to bits.
Taylor is the most generous artist. She owns her material, but she gives it so freely in performance and for her fans. I mean, a double album in the midst of this insane world tour!! Who else can do that? Nobody, that's who. Taylor Swift is in the dimension of legend now.

This song is so so sad. Taylor was really in a bad place and was dealing with so much, but still went on every night. I think this is her reaching a breaking point and finally being honest, with the fans and herself. I also feel like this whole album was her purging herself of all the hurt and rage she felt. And she didn’t care about awards or what the fans thought, she just needed to put it out there. ❤ her

I went to her Houston show and I could absolutely see it. She seemed distracted. I didn't understand what was happening. They had just broke up in florida before coming to Houston. It was FRESH. I felt so sorry I wanted to hug her.
I know we've all seen the clips of her tearing up during some of the shows, but one thing I've always thought of is like... This woman does these MASSIVE 4 hour performances almost every night no matter what. Shitty weather, performs. She's sick, performs. She's on her monthly and dealing with that, performs. She's got her own personal sadness/issues/trauma, performs. She has a shit day, maybe she's injured or sore, FREAKING PERFOMS! She can't be stopped. When she says "try and come for my job" she's saying it all. Unless you've suffered and kept on showing up every single day and giving it EVERYTHING, you can't do it.
It's so symbolic too, she's got fans who are going through their own pain and turning to her lyrics for peace/encouragement/validation/comfort/etc... A lot of especially elder swifties (age not seniority) are parents and adults going through their own personal shit and still showing up ever day to do their best for the people that need them (kids, job, partners, family, etc) This song is for us. But it also is for her, to say "see, I'm a badass, even when I don't feel like I am." and i respect the hell out of that.
Younger swifties just gonna say this for yall, I'm not saying you don't have your own reasons to identify as hard as you do with this song, you absolutely do and that valid as hell too. But I came to the Taylor light a little older so I can't speak for your experience, only my own and the other older swifties that I personally know. I don't want any of you to feel singled out or invalidated AT ALL. Taylor is speaking to and for people across generations, I know grandmothers who are hardcore, die-hard swifties and literal great grandkids who are 5-8 years old who love her too.
Well, I THINK the #ErasTourMovie was filmed when she was happy again, when she was WITH Travis . . . And I think she wrote this song at the START of #TheErasTour in March of last year when she had JUST broken up with Joe, but still . . . yeah, we really have NO idea like she says at the end of the song . . . 🥺 And I also just LOVE how it's such a happy bop that makes you wanna get up & dance, but the lyrics are just SO sad & depressing!! Just a context, we don't know who she's talking about. She has been in a situationship with Matty Healy for 10 years, and it was a surprise to discover that half of the album is for him! After they had something brief in 2014, they came back in 2023 and we all thought it was something stupid, but it wasn't. She had deep feelings for him for 10 years, and she had been disconnected from her relationship with Joe for years, since in her 2019 album she already talks about the problems they were having, the pandemic kept them. but in this album there are many immature feelings, of an old passion that she mentions many times, which returned last year. even in the prologue she says "then something old came back showing itself as new, something sacred", after comparing her relationship with Joe to being in prison, wich she also does in many songs, we didn't know about this strong bond until her album came out. Since then, we have all been shocked! we discovered Matty's songs about her, fans saw him singing to her in 2014 at one of the shows, photos of them were leaked, and I forgot how my tumblr in 2014 was full of them. about joe, they were both already disconnected, but Matty's feelings were on the surface ( in a bad way )
