Same.. I actually bought a small doner rotisserie but it was too expensive to fill it, and too large to realistically use to get the recipe right for me personally :D Ended up selling it again, and I'm still not completely sure I won't do it again. :/ I miss them that much. Gyros aren't right.
@@philsmith214 Good to know. I'll give it a try, though lamb costs a lot in America. We were spoilt in the UK with Lamb and I never realized it. Cheaper beef in the US, but.. Hey ho..
I buy about 75% of my beef from the butcher. my friend has a pig farm and only buy his pigs only. have to say never had lamb but think Saturday I have to pick up 1/4-1/2 lb to try. so far have tried 50% of your dishes and loved everyone of them. thank you very much Scott
My butcher the bomb when ever I spend $30 or more he gives me free bacon. I learned along time ago better meat and same price as a good butcher .I have a good relationship with mine too always helps
Totally agree with your statement about the butchers over supermarket. I go to butchers and get the size I want, burgers custom made and better quality of service.
It's cold and windy now Scott lol. Can you do a series on curing meats the traditional English way? Just wind curing my bacon right now and it's looking good. Nice one mate!
Terrific video! Everything looked good, and onion powder is great. I myself like to chop the onion and mix with the burgers so how would that work out for these? Also some onion cooking with a bit of oil to add as a topping! Mmmmm. Oops I just remembered you have the red onion so moot point I made haha!
Yes definitely best to buy your meat from butcher's... And we do need to support our local butchers to stay in business too... Supermarket packaged crap, you don't know what's in it, And it has chemicals for long shelf life too, absolutely rubbish... Great video thanks very much sir...♡ :)
Hey Scott, at the weekend I made some burgers, cooked them sous vide, then flash fried a crust on them. They were a revelation. I reckon it'd work on these but finish them off with the old blowtorch. Whaddaya think?
it would be very nice if you was to make suggestions as to how people on a limited budget can use a butcher. an not cheep shit out a super market thanks
The butcher's lamb was fresh and red, flecked with fat; the supermarket product looked like it had been over-processed, with extra fat included. In our 'high-income' county (Albemarle, VA USA), the high end supermarkets include a specialty butcher shop along with the standard cold cases of product. Stand-alone craft butchers have a difficult go of things, economics wise. That doner kebab and bun looked fantastic! Too bad you didn't have an icy British gin waiting to squeeze the cucumber juice into! That makes a 'different' Martini.
The herbs and spices you just used combined with minced meat is called "Köfte" in Turkey, this is a whole nother dish than Döner. What a coincidence aswell, just a few minutes ago I made it aswell but smaller with chips :D And now im watching this video, no im not hungry lol!
Local butchers are better if not more than supermarket meat, anyone going to NZ for a holiday go to the local butchers not the supermarket, actually the supermarket imports semifrost pork etc so check packaging, make sure it is locally sourced. We have nice Wagyu etc here too but you wont find that at the supermarket however any butcher can order that in for you, if not do it yourself online sales.
It's 1.20 am. I've got some top notch belly pork marinading in the fridge to chuck on the smoker tomorrow afternoon. Sit down at the PC and he's put this out. I'm not happy ;)
This is nothing to do with döner man. You guys learn the word ''döner'' from turks and using it everywhere LOL Döner means ''it rotates, spins, turns'' in Turkish which is compressed spicy meats cooked during spinning slowly like in this pic (its not mince): www.featurepics.com/online/Doner-Kebab-1883550.aspx they cut from it to a plate, bread, or lavash . if you put it in a burger bread its a weird cultural synthesis called ''döner burger'' You can buy chicken ,beef döner prepared but fresh from restaurant is better.: www.google.com/search?q=d%C3%B6ner+200+gram&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiFxdnQlbbfAhVlkIsKHUFiAwYQ_AUIDigB&biw=1920&bih=948#imgrc=iWWbF-L4Us-jRM: and this is what real döner burger looks like : www.google.com/search?q=d%C3%B6ner+burger&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj96O_rl7bfAhWptIsKHQV-AxIQ_AUIDigB&biw=1920&bih=948
Even if a butcher was more expensive (and let’s face it, they often are) there is the difference in quality. And not just taste wise. When you throw some supermarket meat in the pan, it literally seems to disappear in a puddle of “juice”. While quality meat is much more easy to sear and get some colour on it.
Bit of misinformation there, unintentional I’m sure but you actually get 500g of lamb mince for £4 not the 400g stated...so better value than suggested. My local butcher...of which there is only one is most certainly not cheaper....and parking is a ball ache. As much as I’d love to support my local butcher I simply cannot afford to so I only got there when I need to get something the supermarkets don’t sell.
I like your attitude clean as you go, that's absolutely right manner that I have never seen right now from kids.
Scott just wanted to say they taste amazing, thank you for sharing this recipe love it....
I am going to make these for Sunday dinner. Thanks for the great video and idea Scott Rea!!!! You never cease to amaze me. Keep up the good work!
slipping trough my fingers lol, best ABBA song ever loved that
Doner kebabs rank near the top of my list of things I miss most about living in England.

@@breaddrinkerscott has the recipe right i blend the mix add more lamb fat squish it flat in a large frying pan 👍

@@breaddrinker lots of döner in Turkey is actually veal
@@breaddrinker I'm pretty sure Doner kebabs are made with mutton which is cheaper if you can get hold of it.
Thank you so much for the simplest recipe of the kebab. I am gonna make it today ❤️
Ok this is one of your better ones Scott. Thanks for this. Great recipe, excellent presentation. Thanks again!
I love these videos. You’re a true artisan Scott!
Scott! As always, SUPERB video! Thanks!!

You're a proper fella mate!
The burgers.. If I want to prep to freeze, should it go straight to the freezer? OR marinate in the fridge for a day and then freeze?
Your recipes rock...
Tried many, love 'em all

Delicious! How come you have no videos on e.g. homemade salami, or cured meat in general?

Would this recipe work with beef or pork? I live in the US, and lamb mince is very hard to come by.
What kind of cheese would be best to go on the burger?
it would be very nice if you was to make suggestions as to how people on a limited budget can use a butcher. an not cheep shit out a super market thanks
Please send a few of those burgers over to me in Arizona, USA.

Should the lamb burger be cooked medium? well? rare? What would be best?
How much was the lamb mince from the butchers

I think your videos are awesome. Are you going to have your own t-shirts for sale so I definitely by 1
looks delicious! do you not put mint in your tzatziki? it adds so much freshness!

You had me concerned when I saw the supermarket packaged meat... I was going to recommend a butcher guy😉
Nom Nom Nom!
Try a bit of chopped mint in the tzatziki, yum
How do I keep burgers from sticking to my grill? Much love from Greece !
Put a smear of vegtable oil on it just before your burger.
Cheers dude, awesome cook! Next time try adding 1tsp of dried mint and 1tsp of dried Greek oregano to your tzatziki to get to the next level!
You sure those are T Spoon and not Table Spoon measurements?
I've a new ambition to my life, And that is to be Scott's new neighbour
