STRYKER SR A10 Magnet Mount Antenna. A Great New Antenna For My Winter Car.
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 вер 2024
- After installing the great 102 whip on my old Toyota T100, I heard a lot of comments about equally great smaller antennas. These folks had a point. Location does help a lot when placing an antenna on your car, so maybe a shorter antenna placed in the perfect spot can work as well as the 102.
I set out to find out, and researched what the internet thinks is the best mobile antenna on the market.
Meet the STRYKER SR-A10. It's mean looking, pretty large, and IT LIGHTS UP!
I'll do a range test with it, and we can all get to see if it really stacks up!

It been almost 2 months and you have not come out with a video for the test performance of the antenna
CALL THE COPS!!!1!1!!1!1
love mine
In my mobile antenna testing, I found that any antenna length over 54" (which is 1/8 wavelength on 27 Mhz) performs almost as well or as well as a 102" whip provided that the antenna's loading coil's Q is high enough - which means large diameter wire, not enclosed by metal, large coil diameter, etc... The lower the Q the more loss.
All antennas that I tested under 54" were progressively worse the shorter they were, and the shorter they were the more they acted like a dummy load and not an antenna. That makes sense.
Nice! Light up those radio waves! I can't wait for the range test.
The Stryker SR-A10MM is the meanest looking radio antenna I've ever seen.
I'd be curious to see a shootout between your A10 and a Wilson 1000.
Mine preforms better than the Wilson 5000.

I put two of these Strykers with a mirror mount shaft on my work truck (2021 KW), they are nothing short of awesome. Previously had those spiffy looking black and gold anniversary edition Wilson 2000s but was having a terrible time transmitting and getting SWR readings low enough. The factory fiberglass sticks weren't much better to begin with. Added ground straps, new coax, the whole nine yards. Still had issues with transmitting. Then rain started getting inside the coil.. finally got fed up and got those Strykers. No issues at all with a nearly flat SWR, great transmit and awesome recieve when paired with my peak/tuned Galaxy DX 979. The lights are pretty damn cool too (they really don't suck any extra power either).
Kind of a shame, because I remember my father really getting out there with a pair of much older Wilson 2000s with his old Cobra 29 and a Texas Star all mounted in his old KW. Maybe they're not made like they once were..?
Yes, the Stryker may look/sound gimmicky because of the lights, etc. but they're really worth every penny. I even pulled apart one of the coils before installing, just to see what its all about. Its solid. No reason it can't last a good while and then some 👍
Possibly take pics of internals?
I have a 102” whip on my 6” lifted 35” tire truck it doesn’t hit anything on the road but yes it does scrape in parking garages but I don’t care
I can hear that sound now, boing, boing, boing, as you hit every ceiling
Wilson 5000 magnet mount kicks ads
Won't there be a parasitic loss due to lighting the LEDs?
parasitic loss from your wallet when you get a ticket for running a blue light on your roof :D
@@notsure7874: 😁🤣!!
It takes it from RF power not transmit power.
Why you use this?? how much power you running?? Lemme give you a 45+ year Antenna Theory Engineers advice on this!! unless your running power, there is no differance in antennas.. a 5/8 antenna is a 5/8 antenna.. doesnt matter what it looks like, its still a 5/8! A Wilson 1000 is no differant than a Wilson 5000 in performance!! only differance is how much Wattage one can handle!! If your running stock power up to 3000 Watts than a Wilson 1000 will work great for you! work on gettin your SWR as low as possible is my best advice for people! I do believe some dealers are posting advertising that if your not running more than 500 watts than get the cheaper 5/8 antenna!
I run stock. I would also say that what you are saying isn't 100% true. base mount, mid mount and top mount coils can make a small difference when talking about the size of an antenna. Other than that, you are correct. A 32 inch is going to work pretty much the same as all other 32 inch antennas. This one has one major advantage over the rest.
It looks cool!
@@FarpointFarms a 5/8 antenna is a 5/8 antenna no matter how you look at it! The only differance would be how much power you can put towards it. Thats why the bigger coil to handle the added wattage!.. thus why these antennas come rated, your paying for the rating of how much wattage your going to put on it! so AGAIN, a Wilson 1000 will work same as a Wilson 5000 if your running stock power up to 3000 watts! I tell you this from my 45+ year knowledge as an antenna designer! ... think of it this way, your car.. you put reg tires on it or put bigger tires on it... its still the same motor and wont be any faster with the bigger tires.. your just wasting money! up to you.. --HERE YOU GO DIRECT FROM MANUFACTURER IN SMALL PRINT """High-performance, long-range CB use for individuals wanting an easy installation on cars, trucks or commercial vehicles. If you're using a 4-watt stock CB radio, we recommend the Wilson 1000 magnet CB antenna over the more expensive Wilson 5000. The 1000 is cheaper and will provide similar transmit and receive performance. The additional price for the Wilson 5000 is justified if you're running high-wattage radio equipment.""" YOUR WELCOME
A loading coil in a CB antenna does not "wind up the rest of the 102" as you state. A short antenna has capacitive reactance. The loading coil provides inductive reactance, which at resonance, exactly cancels the capacitive reactance of the antenna. The length of the wire in the coil depends on the diameter and wire spacing to achieve the correct inductance.
An antenna that is too long has inductive reactance.
I have a newer (aluminum) F250 - and a Wilson 5000 just waiting for something to grab onto...
Do you have it on the 3rd brake light mount
I'm running a sirio performer 5000. It has been flawless so far.
I ran two different Sirio Performer 5000's. Performance was outstanding. I truly thought it was the best thing out there. However, about about 3 months installed on the roof of the truck, the metal portions of the base showed severe signs of corrosion and deep pitting. I contacted Sirio through email, included pictures of the issues and the little scratcher tag that came with the antenna. Sirio sent me another one from their USA distributor. I thought that was awesome. When the replacement arrived, I installed it and it performed just as well as the old one. Three months later..... corrosion again. Same deep pitting. I contacted Siroi again, and they once again sent a new antenna. Great customer service and support. But the metal they use does not hold up well at all. It like "pot metal". If it was stainless steel, or if they made an optional SS version, I would buy it in a heartbeat. I know have a new one sitting on the shelf, and 3 Sirio log antennas as well for future use.
@@TheJimmyhughes7 thanks for sharing. I'll have to watch for that.
Update installed it on my F-250 and man oh man it’s awesome I was a Wilson guy but not anymore
4:40 - The Wilson 1000/5000 work exactly like the Stryker in terms of separating the magnet base from the coil/antenna. The Stryker is based on those antennas. Additionally the K40 base load antenna also can be disconnected from the magnet mount base in a similar fashion.
Wilson great antenna
Here's one question I'm sure you never get. How do you keep from crimping or crushing the magnetic mount antenna coax if you have to run it between the door jam and door seal ?
Good question! I take the rubber seal on the door frame and pull it free. Once it is out of the way, I take an angle grinder and cut a notch in the metal of the door frame big enough for the cord to sit in. Then I put the seal back in place. No leaks and no crushing of the cord!
Maybe this is too technical a question for some but wouldn't the leds inside the coil rob some of your RF engergy to make the lights?
Will this come loose when your driving
I have not had any issues with mine
Would the SWR's with this mounted on the trunk be similar to a K40 trunk lip mount?
yes it would be. It should be nearly identical
Haven't seen a performance test on it yet were you going to do one
Nice antenna, but that blue light is a deal breaker for me, almost like impersonating a law enforcement vehicle, I don’t want to bring attention to myself, very disappointing.
I highly doubt anyone would mistake the dim blue lights modulating with your voice for a police light.
I agree that the original Wilson antenna's were very good. I ran a 1000 Mag mount for 17 years. I also have the 2000 & 5000 Mag. But about 7 years ago I switched to the Audio 5000 PL Mag. And Wow, what a difference. It's tuned from 26.950 with a 1.7, 27.185 with a 1.5, 27.555 with a 1.0, 28.500 with a 1.5, and 28.700 with a 1.7 SWR. Without a tuner. I see over 30 miles with it on top of my Mini van. And my Grant XL on AM. I was so pleased that I now own 3 of these antenna's. And with a small LDG tuner I can do 10-40 meters. And years ago we learned that lights reduce range of antenna when I ran the old Antenna Topper Lights. 73
I agree Wilson great antenna
I had a 102 on the back bumper of a 78 Chevette in 80. It caused body roll.
Ha- the antenna is bigger than the car
What components would they use to light up an led off of the signal going thru the antenna? That's what amazes me!
No idea, but they sure are cool!
These are really nice. Are they bad to mess up the paint underneath the magnet?
I had a lil Wilosn leave a circle in the top of my mini van paint and it only gets on there on road trips.
All these magnetic mount antennas can and eventually do hurt the paint. I hate it, but so far I've found no solution.
THE STRYKER MIRROR MOUNT IS THE HARDEST ANTENNA TO GET "RIGHT" IN EXISTENCE!! MAG MOUNT ROCKS, AND RULES THE AIRWAVES! The mirror mount I purchased had SWR in the 2 or 3 range! Took it to the tech and he ended up stripping it completely down and tested everything. There was nothing wrong with it, so he put it back together and tried it on his truck.(In place of his 102 whip) Couldn't get SWR's lower than 2!!! Gave it back to me and said "I don't know"! Mag mount rules, mirror mount sucks...and I mean SUCKS! Maybe someone else had good luck with theirs. I don't care, because mine ain't worth a crap! Bought a mag mount, now everything is fine and it loves a Sweet Sixteen driven with a variable Texas Star 350!
Personally I prefer the Wilson line. I used to run with a Wilson 500 and it worked flawless. I now use the Wilson 1000 and it gets me out and receives very well. As far as removing the base coil on either the 500 or 1000 they also come off and have a protective cap on it. As far as looks go I find the Wilson Magnetic base antennas aesthetically pleasing where as the Stryker looks like something out of a Sifi movie. Who needs the lights on it. The little Will is the only Wilson magnetic antenna that you can not remove the base.
Exactly right Mike.👍🏼 The Stryker may work well but it's ugly, gaudy, and the blue lights are asinine (and illegal).
@Electro489 stop crying and just put black electric tape over the holes
There's something new going around about this anntenna I also have one there's a guy who runs a CB shop he claims if you're going to use the magnet Mount to take off the rubber boot if you do not take off the rubber boot you may have problems like squealing microphones and other problems so He suggests take the rubber boot off the bottom of the magnet so you can achieve a better ground his customers were having issues with the antenna when they took off the rubber boot the problems are. Gone the funny thing about this it doesn't say nothing in the instruction book about this but I'm glad the guy figured it out
I removed the rubber boot out of curiosity and I did notice an improvement in my A--10. I have had no issues in just over 2 years with it, it is awesome.
I'm going back to the Wilson 5000
How's that antenna working for you? I can't seem to find the follow-up to this review. Thanks!
There are 2 issues I found so far with this antenna. 1) The price. Way too expensive. 2) Having a light come on
in the base of the antenna when you transmit is simply ridiculous.
For some, that is what people like kinda flashy.
@@FarpointFarms You know it would be nice if they offered a version without the light. And you do realize I can buy a whole radio for the price of some of these CB antennas. But what is nice is to watch someone
who knows what they are doing, present these videos. There was a fellow on another channel showed how to setup this antenna. 1.1 on channel 1 and 1.2.5 on channel 40 was not good enough. He got the SWR down so it would be just about the same on 1 and 40. I am happy with anything below 1.3. He knows what he is doing too.
Anything that 'kinda makes me feel young again', must be a good starting place. The whole idea of CB, is to be fun. I know in my youth, it was great reading the mags, and buying both mobile and Base station equipment, to trial, and reach ever greater results. The sheer innocence of driving up to a local high spot, at night, to try and catch that American skip, sure looks like time well spent. I am glad l rode that wave in '81, l was 13.
@Farpoint Farms how about that update?
What are your thoughts so far?
Playing with CB radios still.....you are having too much fun....I will be getting out my old Tram by spring...and seeif it works as I remember...undecided on antenna yet....thanks for the vid.
Rock on!
So how does this antenna work? I didn't see the follow-up anywhere, sorry if i missed it.
First thing I did was removed the blue led. Then I removed the Rg8x and installed a tuned Rg400 1/2 wave coax, then I bought a 65" whip then tuned it to get the perfect resonance at ch20. 1.1 SWR from ch1- ch40. It's pretty flat right out of the box at 1.3-1.4 SWR but using a vna or mfj-269 you can see it's actually tuned for 28.500 mhz area. Needs to be longer. Now I just ordered a breed love 3" so239 puck for direct mount. Anything over 150 watts I've been told will burn the paint. I'm not doing that much but that tells me there is some energy lost in heat at the mag mount if it's doing that. I can go 25 miles on the mag mount and a stock barefoot 955 to a base station with this antenna
Did you ever finish test in the antenna striker I’ve got one I’m interested but you have to say
We used to do the lights up thing back in the late 70s and early 80s by attaching one lead of a neon bulb to the tip of the antenna and soldering a small round washer to the other. We would either then in case that in some clear plastic tubing or just let it fly loose. They worked extremely well. You do have course have to compensate for the change in the electrical length of the antenna by adjusting the overall whip length for a good SWR
I Just Bought This Stryker antenna before I saw this video and I’ll Say It’s Better than my Wilson magnet base antenna💯
Steal wipe do i put it all the way in or back it or a pinch
That is how you adjust the SWR. some might have to be trimmed.
I just bought this antenna about a month ago. I love it. The range has been great. On side band I can talk to a guy about 70 miles away consistently. And have a got some skip with it as well. Furthest signal I have got was about 1300 miles. My radio is a uniden bearcat 980. I’m still playing with it tho. And I am new to cb so I’m sure someone like yourself could really dial it in. I really enjoy your videos so keep up the great work!
980 is a great side bander
70 miles huh, thats significant for cb
still partial to my Wilson's
I just got my Stryker 10 and there was no thread on cover for the base to keep out the water. Where can i get one ??
Bummer. I tossed mine as I never take the antenna off.
I can't get into my car port without taking the 10 off. Thanks for the answer....@@FarpointFarms
Have you been able to skip with that set up ? Looks good .
Thanks for sharing
Yes I have
@@FarpointFarms sounds good ,thanks Eric
Was looking to replace my LiL Will, looking forward to your test vid.
i was wondering if there will come a follow up, when you have installed it on your car ?
I also saw the series : CB Base Antennas 1 - 2 and 3, and you were talking in those about a part 4 where you actually would build your own antenna. but that part 4, i can't find ?
Is that still in the making ? :p or has it gotten a different name perhaps.

When will you do the part 2 video of the Stryker SR-A10MM. Magnetic Mount antenna
I since the 70's I have used a number of mag based antennas, K-40 Wilson and others. I kept going back to the radio shack which gave me the lowest SWR and really got out even if I accidentally put out 150 watts. Recently I bought the Stryker SR A 10 and i love it. Strong magnet to hold it in place. The whip is a little taller than RS but seems a little more flexible. I am running a stock Galaxy DX99V on it and really pleased. Low SWR and easy to tune. I think you are going to be very happy with this antenna.
I have a RCI ranger 2970 n3 Let me know if that would work I’m pretty sure 10 m 11 m and 12 thank you
Farpoint Farms --- Can you make an updated video on how the Stryker SR A10 antenna is performing thank you and keep up the good UA-cam videos
It's filmed, and It will be up this sunday!
I have purchased two Tram Antennas and have been total Junk. And being Made in China does not help at all with anything theses days!
Hey Eric,, I've put this Stryker AR A 10 on 2 different trucks, and I've hd to replace the coax on both antenna's, the first one was on my truck and the coax was 18 ft. long and couldn't get swr down, so I replaced it with 19' 6in. of RG8 X and put the stinger in and pushed it all the way down to start, and it was 1.0.. So now I'm putting a Stryker A 10 on my buddy's truck.. and the coax on his BRAMD NEW Stryker A 10 is 17 ft. 3in. So I'm having him pick up 25ft. RG8X .. SO I don't know what yours was.. But that My experience with Stryker, NOW.. Once you change the Coax.. they are a talking antenna.. 73's, Mountain Man, South East Missouri, Ole 121.. Out.
Strange. No idea what must have happened there. Mine worked well with minor trim adjustments.
Those lights look nice but will use up some of that RF energy surley....
Looks like a Good antenna can't wait to see the range test. And would love to see what it is like for dxing. I use a sirio ml145 for around the city and a sirio 5000 when driving around the country .reg shannon 29vlf21 Dublin ireland
Very cool looking love to see how it works
Stryker really does build a good antenna I went from a Wilson 5000 to a striker sra10 trucker on my Kenworth and wow I gained several miles of range and I used to be a straight-up Wilson guy!! Now the old Wilson's are really good antanas I have an old 500 that just rips on my pickup truck but the modern ones are not built the same Stryker antanas are what Wilson's used to be great video buddy
Agreed. These are really nice quality.
I talked 30 miles with it from Sacramento California to Auburn California, with this antenna and a galaxy 959b cb. It's a awesome mag mount antenna
I am still happy with mine as well.
Most of the time ,, shove the stinger all the way down ,, raise it 3/16 of an inch and tighten it down ,, near flat SWR ,, awesome looking antenna,, I’m waiting on the permanent mount to replace my 8 year old Wilson 1000 on the roof of my Cherokee 👍 but I’ve been looking at these
We used to zip tie fluorescent bulbs to our 102's but with the knowledge that in order to light the light with RF it would be wasting some of the xmit power to light the bulb.
Sounds like a cool idea
This antenna is awesome. It doesn't need a spring, it has a really strong magnet mount. It lights up (Mixed feelings about that), it has decent coax thickness compared to the thin coax used by so many other manufactures. The connector comes apart so you can feed it through smaller spaces, or you can drill a smaller hole. The antenna unscrews from the base, and it has a screw on cover to protect the connections when the antenna is removed. It will handle the power average hobbyists will throw at it. The antenna is 6.5 ft tall. What's not to love about this?
It's a good setup for sure!
It lights up balbs don't last forever. Balbs rob power.
@@Life-of-Bluegrass_Music Stray RF is what lights it up. It doesn't take from the output.
Would not be legal in NY. Blue light on top of vehicle is emergency vehicle. Also anxiously awaiting more of the GMRS midland videos. Maybe you could do a clip explaining how the repeater channels work as well as repeaters. I run a wilson 1000 with preseident andy. But looking into the stryker 94 with wire clip.
Also in V.A.
Blue light in NY is for volunteer firefighters.
The last thing I want these days is for people to know where I am when on the two way. No light for me.
That's the one I'm using. It's on an old window A/C unit, turned on it's side for added height, out on my deck. I was getting high SWRs but then added two "radials". I had a couple of spare Wilson 1000 whips so I laid them on the base and they're held in place by those nubs sticking up around the antenna. I tried doing an "X" with them but got better results with them running east/west.
I was unaware it lit up I have been looking at these to replace my Wilson 2000
Just got one for my self I’ll let you know how I like it

No problem!
Hmm? A (RF power) let's light, will = cause FR signal lowest power CB.
OK, LOOKS COOL!
Did you do a number two video on this striker antenna
I just bought a Hustler IC100SB mag mount, can't get the swrs down past 1.5 on ch 1 or down past almost 3 on ch 40. I tried adjustments till my fingers were bruised from the allen wrench. Any thoughts? I have it mounted to as near center as possible on the roof of a Toyota Sienna.
Make sure the doors are closed when you are testing it. If that doesn't change anything, try moving it towards the back about a foot. If that doesn't work, you can then move to trimming it a hair.
If you were to look at the coil design, it seems to be a Wilson 5000 with some cosmetic differences.
I used to only run Tram antenna's so I don't recall what the Wilson 5000 looks like, but I do seem to recall that Tram, Wilson and K40 are all owned by the came parent company.
Thank you for replying to a comment on a 3 year old video. That is outstanding fan support.👍
I try to answer most of the comments, when I can- Thank you for the support
The top of the base/coil looks like a mini gun!!!!
Can you use this as a base antenna? Just need a metal ground plane?
Little help here,,,I've got that same antenna with a general Lee cb, I've got good modulation on AM,,but when it's on the FM side,,needle on radio moves but when you start talking it doesn't move like it should like it should,,,any ideas
In FM mode, it should not move when talking! It's frequency modulation, not amplitude modulation.
Hi could you tell me where I’d be able to get a replacement cap for when I unscrew the antenna itself. (Meaning when I just have the base on my roof separately.) I lost mind, and im just looking for a replacement. Thank you. Your videos are always helpful. 73’s
I'd reach out to Stryker and see if they can help you out.
@@FarpointFarms Do they have a customer service number? I went on to their website, and didn't find out much. Thank You sir.
Nice antenna but the lights ruined it.👎
The last thing I need is to give a cop any reason to pull me over for unauthorized blue-lights on a personal vehicle.
Would have been nice to see the entire antenna on the vehicle (not just the base coil area).
Glad I found your video Farpoint Farms, it was well produced.👍
The cops here are really cool, so I have never had any issues with them
Erik any news on range test with this bad boy
I'm just getting back into CB's, what do you use to hold down the coax to the roof ??? With the Stryker.
It is a strong magnet holds the antenna and there is not a ton of slack on the coax so I just let it lay there.
100%wrong about the taking off of a Wilson . They do the same thing . I have 3 of them. Still love ya big guy 🤣😂😄😁
Can you get it without the blue lights?
Sirio* stupid auto correct
Let presume your aware of the take down aspect of the PL-259. No need for a bodacious hole to be drilled to pass the coax PL-259. Can't say the diameter of the inner threads for certain, but I guess 3/8"D versus 5/8" of the PL-259. Pretty neat and thoughtful.
The wilson, 5000, 1000, and the K40 all come off of the mount, the K40 is ok but you cant change the coax, but you can on the Wilsons, I haven't personally used the Stryker but there is no way I'm having my antenna base light up lol, I'll stick with the wilson 5000 for my mag mount and my Coily fir my high power antenna
I use the president Texas 1800 and nothing beats it.
I've had sirio 4000 & 5000, Wilson's, Monkey Made and nothing comes near the performance of my Texas 1800.
I’m a ham but new to mobile HF…I just purchased a used Radio Shack HTX 10 mobile. Would this antenna work for 10 meter too?
Where’s the update????
no secret more whip less coil :)
I had to trim mine 1".
I just got mine in! Wondering what that giant washer is for - gluing on the underside of non-steel vehicles, or am I missing something?
So I got the nanoVNA out, set the range from 26.5mhz - 30mhz with SWR and Smith chart on, and it was dead on for 11 meter out of the box. Like 1.1 almost across the band - but 3+ for 10 meter. Clipped a bit at a time off the whip til I got it pretty much in the middle, 10m in the low to mid 2's, 11m in the mid 2's - a bit of cap / inductor mismatching, but within operating range. An antenna tuner could make short work of getting either band close to perfect now. By "clipped" the whip, I mean I used an angle grinder. Side cutters weren't cutting it! :D
As far as I know it's just for shipping.
I now have the Styker SR-A10 mounted to the roof of my 2008 Ford Explorer SUV. However, due to the ridges in the roof, I had to place it on the rear, flat portion of the roof, just ahead of the rear liftgate. I have two questions. First, is this a decent placement for radiation? And.....I am using the President Lincoln ll+ with 10meters, 11meters(CB) and 12meters. After cutting about 1/4" off the whip, I was able to get a perfect SWR on all 40 CB channels. However, SWR is still dangerously high on both, 10meters and 12meters. Is there any way to tune this antenna for those bands? I thought about buying extra whips, so I could have three whips of varying lengths, tuned to each band. Any ideas? Thanks.
Where is part 2😤😠😡
I built 6 high frequency crystal radios (also used for listening/DXing with an amplifier) using a 5 to 6 turn coil, a 365 pf tuning capacitor and a 1n34a diode with a 3 to 5 foot antenna connected to various 12 volt LED strips and other various automotive 12v LED types. I place them near my CB base antenna 5 to 30 feet roughly. They light up quite brightly, even more so using my booster.. The circuit is based on my popular ,Build a CB radio Crystal Set, video.
I'm opening mine up to disable those blue lights. It'll get you a pretty hefty ticket here, and if they want to be assholes, they can take you to jail in some places for displaying blue lights - or red in some areas. I'm not trying to get pulled over for something that looks cool (and it does look cool!)
Have you had any concern from local law enforcement regarding the blue light? In my neck of the woods, it’s prohibited to install blue or red lights on civilian vehicles and I was wondering if this would be an issue down the road, whether that involves traveling around town or crossing State lines. I will reluctantly approach my local police department to ask about this yet I’m wary of bringing any unwanted attention. Love your videos. I suppose I could just watch where I’m keying up. I’m a recent subscriber and I’m considering a purchase of the Stryker SR A10 Magnet Mount Antenna solely based on this excellent video. Thank you.
My Wilson magnet mount does the same thing and has an identical cap that covers the base looks like they copied them, what are the differences between this Antenna and a Wilson for different frequencies, for example I run a Galaxy 88 HL, it has Fm, plus how many watts can you run through the Stryker? I hope you can do a video about these things and talk about Cost. If I'm not mistaken Wilson also has same Coil design.
Thanks i have one
I've tried lots of different antennas.
I used a Comet quad band for a while for 70cm/2m/6m/10m. I use an FT-857D for my mobile radio, but after I broke the third 10m coil, I retired it.
On 10m, I use it for local comms when the skip propagation isn't rolling. It's a great band, and in my opinion, performs better over local terrain than 2m.
With the available 100w of the 857, I have no problem getting out, though I keep it dialed down when qso'ing around town.
I tried to replace the whip with a Wilson Trucker on another mount than the ball, with the intention of using my 40m hamstick there, but couldn't get it trimmed for a good SWR and went back to the old reliable.
I'm still using a stainless steel whip, trimmed for 28.3-29.7mhz, so it's cut to 99". Perfect SWR over that frequency range. I'll have to look into that antenna, I miss forty mobile.
Short of spending big bucks on a screwdriver antenna, with my high breakage rate, I stick to simple, and inexpensive. The stainless steel whip is pretty much indestructible.
Very nice antenna, I have 2 Wilson antenna the 1000 and the 5000, the 5000 I got from a radio swapping the Wilson 1000 I have since the 80 ts with an HR2510 I have practical DX the world both on 10 and 11 I had to change the cable 4 times, I decided to put some RG 400 on say 9 years ago and it still operates flawlessly, lol talk about those radio shack antenna hit or miss more rated for about 25 watts lol I bought about 3 of those, some of these new antennas are rated for say 5,000 to 10,000 watts who on earth want that power in a mobile lol
