- Restoring a Rusty Facit Typewriter: A Journey Through Time
In this video, we take you on a nostalgic journey as we meticulously restore an old, rusty Facit typewriter to its former glory. This project was a labor of love, requiring countless hours of dedication and hard work. From carefully removing the rust to meticulously polishing each part, we spared no effort to bring this beauty back to life.
The sound of the typewriter keys clacking brings back memories of bustling offices and the charm of a bygone era. There's something incredibly satisfying about hearing that distinctive sound once again.
Witness the transformation from a neglected, forgotten relic to a stunning, functional piece of history. The final result is nothing short of breathtaking, with the typewriter's intricate details and craftsmanship shining through.

Great Restoration! The result looks amazing!
Thanks a lot friend 🤝
It's crazy.
For me, these precision mechanical devices are almost a technical miracle. How much the designer must have racked his brains to build something like this that works.
And there were office machine technicians who could repair it!
But what a masterpiece of experience, skill and technique you have to have to make this mechanical miracle work again so wonderfully and restore it so beautifully!
I could have perhaps dismantled the machine, but I would have failed at the latest when it came to putting it back together in a functional way... :-)
Great work! You can only imagine how much time was invested in it.
Thanks for taking us on this great journey! This channel is completely underrated.
Best wishes, Achim

Thanks friend 🤝
😎😎❤❤
Thanks 🤝
Nicely done. Based on the model and serial number, it looks like this was built in 1973.
I think you're right 🤝🤝🤝
Ya done good kid
Thanks friend 🤝

Thanks friend 🍻
There seems to be no good reason to paint keys, unless this machine was once a training machine, used for teaching students how to type without looking down at the keyboard. If the characters were painted over, then the student would have to memorize the keys and go from muscle memory. Just my best guess, on why someone might have painted the keyboard. Other than that, It might have been done by some kid having fun. Who knows. Great restoration. I would not have believed this machine to be able to be preserved to this like new condition. Great Job!
I think you're right friend about the reason of paint the keys. Thanks a lot 🤝
Why did you work every single one of those strikers instead of dropping the entire thing in rust remover first?
Good idea
But then, again, the striking parts and the mechanism holding them might be gummed up from all that old lubricant that dried out, causing them to lock up.
The way the sound is cutting off through out the entire video is a distraction from the work being done. Too bad, the restauration was great.
Ok
