Yeah but distrokid is better if you do features. Because cdbaby its all up to you..... And they ask for the other people social security cards number no bullshit. Idk about yall but if i do a song with someone im sure as hell aint giving out my personal info. Distrokid takes care of all that no privacy invasion. Plus they pay the other person for you. If not cdbaby... You will have to do that manually.
after checking out the reddit thread "distrokid leave a legacy only takes effect when you die?" where the founder of distrokid comments on this, my understanding is that your music still gets taken down when you cancel your distrokid subscription. someone quoted text that they read on distrokid's website that says "Here's what happens after your account is cancelled: Your music will be deleted - Any music you uploaded to DistroKid will be deleted from stores." THIS is the point. Most artists would want their music to stay up if they stop their Distrokid subscription. Otherwise, it would just be cheaper in many/most cases to pay a one-time fee. This seems to keep DK customers paying their monthly subscription, PLUS charging them the equivalent of CD Baby's one-time fee if they want to use "legacy," and then taking their music down anyway if they cancel their subscription.
This is directly from the Distrikid website as of today "On top of that, if you ever choose to cancel your subscription, any releases that have the Leave a Legacy extra added will remain in stores and streaming services, even if you cancel your account."
BMI allows you to collect your publishing without registering a publishing company name. ASCAP doesnt. BMI writer affiliation is free. ASCAP charges $50 for writer affiliation and $50 for publisher affiliation. On Spotify and could he made something behind my back to get me in law trouble he said all he did was use me as feature and spotify made that Account and i would like to use that.

Distrookid is probably great for anyone who releases a lot of s%^$%. CD Baby is $10 for single. $30 for album. But I do the pro package, which includes worldwide pub collection. I also get the bar code, which is extra. For me, it's $30 single + $5 barcode & $70 album + $20 barcode. No annual fees. BTW, that single is hot af. Me and My drum is my favorite s&%^%
