Hi, I damaged my PS2 reading mechanism by destroying the flat flex cable which goes to the laser. Now I have to wait for a replacement. This saved my day, because I was so mad that I almost gave up on it. Now I can play games from my usb drive. I'll be forever gratefull to you. Thanks :)

Just put your games on your usb thumb, then with usbutil, "Utils" > "Recover list of games" and then directs it to your usb thumb. A new ul . cfg file will be created on the usb, and game list will appear in your usb loader
Eeeh, but you need to install Free McBoot to the PS2, which it needs a device managing program like Codebreaker, AR Max or Gameshark to use FMCB, ergo, you need a disk that can install such program. What does this mean? *You will need a disk to do this.*

You do not have to delete the last one. You can contain more than one PS2 game in USB. Contrary to popular belief -which offenly mentioned on those kind tutorials for no reason- you do not have to format USB when you are about to add any PS2 game on it. I did not format mine before i write a PS2 game on it. But it works fine. PS2open loader read the PS2 game in it anyway. You can contain irrelevant stuffs or many other PS2 games at the same time in it. Summary: No need format, just put game up.

Hm, I'm having an issue now... Im in Ulaunch and when I try to access my USB content (mass) nothing happens, it freezes and all I can do is to restart the PS2. My USB stick is not flashing, but the console recognises it (stable bluish color and its well formated (FAT32) and works well. Tried both USB ports, same thing...Also, when the USB is in and then when I power on PS2, it freezes on Free McBoot logo at the very start... Not sure what to do, I don't have another USB stick to try it out, any suggestions?

got it to read the game after I converted it into the files, but when it flashed the colors it locked up.......so it crashed. I only can assume the game I tested isn't compatible......

Playing games in USB is not really recommended. PS2 is using USB 1.1. Expect slow loading times, faulty screens and frequent freeze in your play time. You might as well use HDD or just burn a disc.
what if the game is small in size? Someone said you don't need to convert them if they're below 4gb, I was gonna test out Makai Kingdom Which is only 1.16gb and what do I need to rename it as?...I heard you got to be specific with the name.

its fine, I did it and tested it. Most games don't even work, in fact 99% of them don't even work on USB, they all need to be on a HDD whatever that means...do they mean the ps2 HDD or a external HDD? Because I got a external one except the thing is the ps2 open ps2 loader won't read the hdd because my external is not FAT32 its NTSF which it needs to be in order to work correctly. And as for "SMB" I don't even know what that stands for....
pavma7 you can also buy a HDD that is compatible with the fat PS2 and download the games to that, the load screens are super fast and no freezing or skipping
pavma7 The cinematics lag, because the version of PS2 USB port is 1.1, which is a tad slower than PS2's DVD Drive, hence the game cinematic lags. Also not all games work, but those which does, just runs smoothly throght the gameplay

instead of saving the games to the desktop through usbutil save the games straight to the usb flash drive. i recommend a 32gb or higher to save multiple games. also you can make memory cards on the usb to save on the physical ps2 memory card.
to do more than one at a time, place games in the same folder and select more than one by holding ctrl and clicking on the desired games or hold shift and down or up to select what can be selected. then simply click auto for dvd or cd and run the program. once done go to file close .ul and exit. properly eject the usb and plug it into the ps2

Playing games in USB is not really recommended. PS2 is using USB 1.1. Expect slow loading times, faulty screens and frequent freeze in your play time. You might as well use HDD or just burn a disc.

what if the game is small in size? Someone said you don't need to convert them if they're below 4gb, I was gonna test out Makai Kingdom Which is only 1.16gb

its fine, I did it and tested it. Most games don't even work, in fact 99% of them don't even work on USB, they all need to be on a HDD whatever that means...do they mean the ps2 HDD or a external HDD? Because I got a external one except the thing is the ps2 open ps2 loader won't read the hdd because my external is not FAT32 its NTSF which it needs to be in order to work correctly.
And as for "SMB" I don't even know what that stands for....
without psx2 we can play any games on usb right?

I burned it on a disc now it works great
pavma7 you can also buy a HDD that is compatible with the fat PS2 and download the games to that, the load screens are super fast and no freezing or skipping

pavma7 The cinematics lag, because the version of PS2 USB port is 1.1, which is a tad slower than PS2's DVD Drive, hence the game cinematic lags. Also not all games work, but those which does, just runs smoothly throght the gameplay

How do I install more than one game properly?
instead of saving the games to the desktop through usbutil save the games straight to the usb flash drive. i recommend a 32gb or higher to save multiple games. also you can make memory cards on the usb to save on the physical ps2 memory card.
to do more than one at a time, place games in the same folder and select more than one by holding ctrl and clicking on the desired games or hold shift and down or up to select what can be selected. then simply click auto for dvd or cd and run the program. once done go to file close .ul and exit. properly eject the usb and plug it into the ps2
