Hell of a week for Tesla to announce the new Model 3... 😅 Still, had a blast making this video - let me know what feature you're most excited about on the updated version!
I can't wait to try HW4. My 2021 M3LR has the automatic trunk (boot), can't imagine not having it. I would use the frunk more if it were fully automated, too. I'm hoping to get a MYLR next year with a lot of new features.
I was shocked when i saw the number of followers. The production quality is better than 80 % one will see in TV productions. Watched the entire thing and did not get bored. Good job!
My Tesla voice commands are about 95%. It seems fantastic to me. ... And my auto windshield wipers are the best I've had, compared to the cars I've owned. I know lots of people complain about the auto wipers, but my experience has been excellent. Go figure.
Wow, one of your shorts came up on my feed and then I looked at your long videos, these are incredible and so comparable to millions of subscriber channels, especially in terms of production! Subscribed, keep up the incredible videos!
Great video, I agree with most of your remarks, even if many don't apply to me, but I can see how they would affect other use cases. For instance, I do pay for premium connectivity mainly because my cell connectivity around my place is quite bad and the car's is significantly better. I also enjoy not being bothered with tethering, but I would love if Tesla provided more benefits with it. I think it would be great if they offered improved stats on the app, so the need for third party apps was not required. I think most Tesla owners would pay premium in a heartbeat. As for your comment on autopilot eating more battery, I feel the opposite, as it is generally much more efficient driving than a human. Regarding wiper speed, since a recent update it can be managed from the wheel, no need to touch or look at the screen.
That’s fair! Cars can be so subjective, which is probably why we enjoy them so much! Still working on building the muscle memory for the new wheel commands but I’ll get there 👌🏼
Absolutely NEXT LEVEL production quality- top notch work Jorge. I have the exact same car in that black paintwork and can’t argue with any of your pros/cons. Yours looks to be in better nick than mine! I had a couple of referrals come through so have put some referral points towards the premium connectivity.
@@JorgePowell I swear it's that black paintwork - my biggest regret with my Model 3 (especially as I'd ordered a blue one but accepted a black in order to get my hands on the car a little faster)...it feels like I barely have to look at it and paint swirls appear.
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this in the comments, but you can quickly set wipers from the left scroll wheel by tapping the stalk button, then push left or right to set speed or auto wipers, no touch screen interaction required. I also discovered by accident yesterday that you can quickly bring up auto high beam and foglight short cuts on the touchscreen by briefly flashing the high beams (yeah I know this may confuse oncoming traffic :) )
regarding the unlock speed with a phone. Might have to do with possible relay attacks over the bluetooth protocol and Tesla probably implemented extra buffer safety to avoid these attacks. I probably prefer seeing a longer wait then being vulnerable to these kind of attacks
You mentioned having problems with voice commands. I thought I saw somewhere that you can now select American English and British English to allow the voice command system to understand you better.
Mainly fair assessment: we’ve had our M3 LR for about the same time, but only with 10k on it. Some of it bugs me, most of it makes me think it’s the best car I/we have ever owned. We test-drove pretty much everything in the same price bracket with a c.300 mile range, and concluded that they all had undesirable materials in the interior somewhere, but that the M3 wasn’t as bad. Also, the M3 LR worked out cheaper than equally-specced alternatives! We can get over 300 miles when the weather is accommodating, but the reality is we never charge to 100% - well, we did once! ;) & of course you never run it to 0%, so the real-world “range” is compromised anyway (as it is similarly for all EVs & ICE for that matter). But of course the reality is neither myself nor the missus have bladders the size of basketballs (as so many ICE owners appear to claim!), and we regularly transport our 2 dogs around, so when stopping for a half-hour charge we’re usually having to rush back to the car to avoid over-staying excess charges! We did get a home charger fitted as well, because fortunately we could. I would say that the auto lights and wipers have improved with software updates over the past 2 years, however my biggest gripe with the lights is that the auto main beams will come on even in built-up areas that have few or no street lights, which seems somewhat anti-social. In light of the reports of others at the time, within a couple of weeks of picking it up, we had it ceramic coated with some PPF on the lower parts and while there had the rear windows tinted - as a result the paintwork remains immaculate & so easy to clean (which is absolutely necessary for us in our rural location) - it would have been ideal if we hadn’t needed to do this, but then again we probably would have done this to whatever we bought at the time. Oh, and still can’t fault the build quality of the car at all - definitely got the impression it was an issue with earlier cars, and probably just the ones that were made in the US? So are we changing to the Highland? Not yet ;) not enough in it for us to warrant an “upgrade” at this point, and certainly not enough to justify the expense! However, if we were looking to buy an M3 right now, I think we’d definitely hold off until the Highland was available. For comparison, I think it would be interesting to know how you compare it to other cars you’ve owned over a similar period of time & usage? Cheers :)
Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, it’s always good to hear from other Tesla owners! I definitely should have got the ceramic coating after delivery, just from reading the comments it seems I’m not the only one unhappy with the paint quality. 😅 I realised when writing this review that I could be leading viewers to assume that this is a bad car, which definitely isn’t the case. I think a lot of the issues I have could be a result of comparing it to legacy brands with decades of design & manufacturing experience. I’m sure Tesla will catch up, but hopefully clear & direct feedback from reviews like this one will help them get there a bit quicker 😌
@@JorgePowell no worries! :) When test-driving others, we discounted one because owners said the paint was so thin you could actually wipe it off! (I won’t say which one I think that was, as I don’t trust my aging memory!). Well, you highlighted your gripes, several of which are admittedly subjective, but many shared by others (including some by ourselves), but that’s the nature of doing this sort of thing - I can’t keep count of the number of reviews by “professional” channels where they’ve raved over some feature or design aspect or some such & I’ve thought “are you off your head?” ;) - there’s a huge dollop of subjectivity in the whole area? And actually several of those things raved over have turned out to be real PITAs to live with when people have lived with the things IRL I guess I’m saying it’s better to listen to real-life experiences rather than the outpourings of fanbois ;) Cheers!
Acceleration decreases with lower state of charge due to lower battery voltage. The maximum current stays the same, and since power equals voltage times current the maximum power decreases with lower state of charge.
I never comment usually but this was a hell of a review... Fair play and subbed! I bought a RWD M3 in late '21 and absolutely loved the car until it was unfortunately written off last month (I can happily back up, Tesla's obsession with safety is no joke!) I'm about to order a LR M3 in black tonight as the replacement as I unfortunately cannot wait around for Highland - as impressive as its looking!. The stone chips and scratches is my biggest fear about going for black this time round so I might just take your advice and try get some protection in place 👌
Loved this video mate! Great review of the Tesla Production quality was awesome, it gave me Top Gear vibes! Interesting about the high beam issue, I’m frequently blinded by Tesla and this explains why!
Great video, very fair. As others have said, really well produced video too. Great job. App door entry uses Bluetooth LE (low energy) so needs to be close. I find that my phone won't unlock the door in my back pocket even, but once I realised that, its fine (a$$ against door!). Totally agree that the auto wipers and lights are cr@p.
The infrastructure in Wales is my issue preventing me from going electric right now - I’ve been considering getting rid of my V90 and using it towards a Polestar 2 but, right now, it’s just a big financial leap for something that might not fit my living situation, since I live in the Ogmore Valley. Terraced houses, no driveways to install home chargers, and the nearest chargers are M4 J36 services. I have heard about chargers being installed at roadside with the support of the council but, honestly, I’ve never looked into it in any major depth. Yet…
This video deserves much more than 15k views and less than 500 likes, with the quality of this video dawg deserves at least 100,000 views and a million subs,
Nice video. Wish you didn't apologize every time you said you didn't like something. You don't like it, own it. The real question is would you do it again or get something else?
Nice review 👍. Have the exact same car M3LR from Nov 2021 in Sydney Australia. However added 19 inch alloys and white interior (which has lasted well). Ceramic coating is essential for solid black paint. Adding a powered frunk early in the piece made the space more useable. Can’t really complain about the auto wipers or high beam. But had similar issues with phantom braking on autopilot Our 2023 MY LR arrives next week (white/white)… and keeping the M3 👍
Hahah I chose a bad week to make this video tbf 😬 I'd love to, but seeing the price of model 3s on the used market doesn't make me want to rush out and buy new again. Despite my moanings, I'd be pretty happy living with this car for another year or so.
Don't press on the hood/bonnet like that to close it. That is probably why you subsequently had trouble getting it to open. Look in the manual to see how to do it. And when you get a new update, sit in the car and look at what's new rather than try to figure it out while moving. Use the left scroll wheel to choose a wiper speed. Again, it should be in the manual. Otherwise, lots of useful content.
Phone key probably has all the standard bluetooth software & wireless delays in connecting, explaining why phone key makes you wait so frequently. That would not be a phone nor car nor app issue. If you want the speed of a hardware solution like the key card, then use a hardware solution like the key card. Silly.
I’m anything but excited about the brand on track to eliminate both understandable control stalks. I simply won’t be trading up to this nonsense so I’ll keep my rational one. Mine now blows speed limits increasingly……..and software performance has been actually getting worse over the last year in particular, with bug fixes introducing more bugs to fix. I don’t take anything at face value anymore.
4:08 disconnected is EXACTLY what most of us want. We DON’T want or need any engine noise invading the cabin. That’s like saying I miss the neigh of a horse.
Absolutely nothing is convincing me. And my first journey in a model 3 was entirely underwhelming. My Lexus hybrid is just as quiet and more comfortable. Not impressed at all and cannot understand the fuss.
If you've owned another EV, the Tesla Model 3 is overrated. Its best features ate shared by all EVs. Its best exclusive features like the trip planner and supercharger networks are truly great, the drivers dependence on a single touchscreen, and the poor build quality will have you constantly asking, "Why?". Teslas are swimminbg in solutions in search of problems.
I'm tired of this current generation apologizing for having an opinion. (Blanking) ridiculous. Be a man/adult...stated what you feel/think and stand strong.
