The airport should be built at Vernam Field. Mike Henry MP a former minister of government have for a very long time have been advocating that an aerotropolis be built at Vernam Field.
This idea is not just an airport to carry passengers and some cargo. It is a airlport that is the center of a newly created metropolitan transportation hub.
With the plan for jamaica to become an important logistic center, Vernam Field would be the ideal place for the air transportation hub of the logistic and transhipment center. The area is flat lands with enough space for allied economic development and residential and commercial activity.
Vernam field which is tje center of south jamaica, would stimulate developments between St. Thomas and Westmoreland including Negril. That is the entire south coast of jamaica. This is to be compared to Little London airport that would serve only tourism as a stimulant. And the reach for such an airport would be Westmoreland and St. Elizabeth.
It is about time we start to diversify the jamaican economy. We should not put aĺl of our development funds into tourism.

I'm from Westmoreland and so I welcome the airport and all the benefits it will bring to Western Jamaica. However, here are some concerns; a feasibility study was conducted in November 2023, it was shortly determined after that study that a int'l airport was not viable at the current Negril site. A new location was identified; how long was that new location in Little London identified before being made public?
Have anyone including government ministers, partners, associates, and or friends acquired land or make any other investment decision in Little London before that location was made public, this week?
I'm concern with insider trading wherein, those with insider knowledge make favorable investment decisions before that same info was made available to the public.

HA HA .. wishful thinking its the way the world work has work's for 1000's of years , Chief , Emperors , Kings , Prime Ministers, Presidents. Dont be fooled by the fancy laws about "insider trading" its just a facade to make us believe its a fair process.🤣

I thought the location moved to little London. Because Negril doesn't have land to build large enough airport for big ets

The aerodrome is not necessary when a new airport will be 15 minutes away. They should turn the lands where the aerodrome is located into a mix development area for housing and shopping.

The problem of Negril must insist on new housing being build for airport workers and the families, plus more housing for ancillary services. This also require infrastructure upgrades...

More Foreign investors taking the lands of the Jamaican people and paying No Taxes, Paying below liveable wage, The local roads in deplorable conditions, when will the priority of the Jamaican people be 1st before foreigners.

I am not sure if you are in Jamaica or has visited in the last 10 years but the biggest investments in infrastructure has been the main roads and highways. Yes most of the community roads are bad in some cases its like off-roading but its getting better . Foreign Investors don't take land ... The land cannot move, we complain about idle land and when we have local/overseas investors investing in projects that use the land we complain about foreigners .. Funny thing some of the same people complaining are at the embassy looking visa to migrate and become a "immigrant/foreigner" in other countries and then complain when the citizens of those countries complain about foreigners/immigrants .. we need each other

I heard that so often. About other countries copying Jamaica system of doing things, he said, even from first world's country. These things are usually not known Untill it comes out from an interview

So Jamaica doesn't copy other countries too? Why is it everyone there wants stuff from overseas. The airports that are already there are modern like American airport. Jamaica is an island it doesn't mean they should isolate themselves. Pe

An international airport in Negril is ridiculous and will put off more people travelling to the area than it will attract
Negril needs to fix all the roads and have a viable hospital never mind an airport
Who wants to enjoying seven mile beach with jet planes taking off and landing
That’s why a lot of people don’t like mobay.

I have grate respect for Delano but i think his questions was off points, i think both infrastructure needs to put in place the international Airport and the road. The problem at sangster international was well explained between the hours 10am to 2pm the constraints on the Airport is getting worse therefore it's a separate challenge form the development of the road infrastructure and just the other day I watched the shipping conference of Kingston wharves and a DHL representative was there stating that DHL wants to build its main transhipment hub here in jamaica so we'll see massive amount of cargo flights into sangster international therefore the Negril international Airport is a no brainer

DHL Hub would work best at Norman Manley as it has a low flight volume and the old Air Jamaica Hanger are is unused
