    So after reading all of your comments, it seems like you guys definitely see the difference, and it's a lot more noticeable when you go back to using 60hz after using 120hz for a long time. Now I didn't talk about this in the video but I did use the A52 for more than 3 weeks as my main phone (because I wanted to make a review video and I did), but I'll be honest when I went back to my iPhone XS I did not feel like it was laggy or anything like that. But again I don't disagree with the fact that 120hz is smooth. Even in my A52 review video, I said that "the difference is certainly noticeable" but I do believe that you really have to look for it, and once you train your eye to see the difference, then yes, you immediately see it. There's no doubt about that, for sure! But I will also again emphasize that so far I've used 120hz on Samsung phones only, I haven't yet used it on an Apple device, but I do plan on buying the iPhone 14 Pro so that might change my opinion, and I might revisit this topic again in the future. Let's see how things go 😁
    But regardless I really appreciate you guys sharing your experience, I LOVE it!! :)

    I have played with the 13 ProMax for a video for about a week. And I have to say the difference was very noticeable compared to my 12proMax. But my buddy didn’t seem to see it.. he said it was a gimmick until I showed him the difference in slow motion then he said “okey it’s there, but not noticeable” so I guess for some people there is no difference. And for some it’s awesome.

      Hehe. You had to show the difference in slow motion😅. That's really the only way to see the difference.. I've been using 60hz on Samsung for years now. Switched to 120hz(on Samsung) and can't really feel any difference. I think what makes a phone faster and smoother is actually the software and processors used. I've seen 120hz on a very midrange xiaomi device and my 60hz on Samsung(better midrange 😅) was completely faster, smoother and better.
      Where the 120hz might stand out is while playing games that support upto 120fps. (my opinion)

      I think once you train your eye to see the difference then you immediately see it. I can see it too! 😁 But like I said in the video, it's not that I can't see the difference, it's just that for me at first it wasn't quite as apparent as I expected it to be, which makes me believe that if someone hasn't used a high refresh rate screen before they might see that "wow" factor :)

  • @finjassauer
    @finjassauer Рік тому +37

    I feel like most people won’t notice a difference between 120hz and 60hz until they use a 120hz device as a daily driver for some time. When I got my iPad Pro, I didn’t have that wow-effect until a few weeks into using it when I went back to my iPad Air and it felt really laggy. Now I notice that difference every time I look at a 60hz iPad. Same thing with my phone, my XR and the 11 Pro I had never felt slow or laggy until I got a 13 Pro.

    • @imSpixel
      @imSpixel  Рік тому +3

      You see that's why I think 120hz is just as much of a software feature as it is a hardware feature because I used the A52 for more than 3 weeks as my main phone but when I went back to using my iPhone XS it didn't feel laggy or anything like that. But that could be because I used Samsung's 120hz and went back to Apple's 60hz. So it's totally possible that Apple's 120hz is better than Samsung's 120hz because of different software optimization and that's why maybe for you going back from your iPad Pro to iPad Air felt like a downgrade. This is also why the word "Maybe" is very important in the title. I hope that makes sense 😁

    The difference for me between 60Hz & 120Hz is HUGE. I can tell the difference between the two instantly, every time I use a friend's phone i immediately notice it. Because their phones are mostly set to 60Hz which hurts my eyes 😭, I'm using a Pixel 6 Pro (Set at 120HZ). I will NEVER in all seriousness buy any other phone that's less than 120Hz. And i've noticed that a lot of people tend to overlook these differences in FPS. They just don't see it & it pisses me off so much 🤣🤣 I don't know how they can't see it!!

    glad you noticed my comment! when the Instagram app on iPhone 13 Pros wasn’t optimized yet and was showing 60hz refresh rate in scrolling, just because the 13 Pros were advertised as phones with a higher refresh rate screens, people weren’t aware of the unoptimized app and concluded that it was smoother, even though it’s still at 60hz! (of course the touch sampling rate has increased but it’s not the refresh rate).

    When I used my sister's iPhone 12 mini for the first time I was blown away by the smoothness (having used a Mi 8 for 2 years). Now I have a Galaxy S20 and when I got it, again, I was amazed by the smoothness. Then I tried using the iPhone 12 mini and my mi 8 again and it all seemed a bit choppy. So I guess it depends on the person... And I don't even think Samsung animations are locked on 120 fps, so I imagine how smooth the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max are

    The thing is having a 120hz screen but not having an optimised UI for it also heavily affects how you perceive it. For me, I definitely saw a difference on android phones like Samsung but on the iPhone 13 the Pro motion was only noticeable when scrolling fast or pushing the phone, SO I do think the animations and other aspects definitely make up for the lack of 120hz in older iPhones cus they had a 120hz touch sample rate, but android phones felt comparatively choppier because of not having a higher touch sample rate and unoptimized animations and UI elements.

    IMO , it's more like the difference between 60hz and 90-120 hz is absolutely visible/noticeable and it can be that ' ' wow factor ' , but the difference between 90hz and 120hz isn't that big , it's hardly noticeable...plus i feel like higher refresh rate screen are not utilised much right now. We use it while scrolling or gaming (if the game supports it), but most of the time like if we're texting someone , or watching a movie (Netflix, UA-cam etc) ,that refresh rate does no good than draining the battery. So my conclusion is that you should consider the 120hz devices for future proofing yourself but if your budget doesn't allow you...you can easily consider other good options like the iPhone 11 (iPhone 11 is still miles better in performance, cameras and reliability than most of the Android devices in the 30-40k price range

    Yep. In my opinion, high refresh rate on a smartphone screen of less than 7 inches where you are not playing console/pc quality games is definitely overrated.
    I tested this for myself using 120hz phone for 6 months, then tried using another with 60hz. I did see a difference, but not as drastic as many people claim. It mostly is in your mind.
    And just what the heck do people do with their sub-7inch phone screen? Almost always it is vertical scrolling. And that difference is only really noticeable if you scroll really fast. Is that what people do.... scroll like mad up and down just to justify having higher refresh screen?
    It is definitely better and nicer to have the option for higher refresh rate, no doubt. But is 60hz so unusable as some people claim? For me, absolutely not.
    And I think 6 months of using a phone strictly in 120hz was more than enough time for me to get used to it, and yet, when I tried going back to 60hz after all that time, I had no problem with it.
    High refresh rate is just a trickery with your eyes, and has absolutely nothing to do with lag or raw performance. And this is coming from someone who is ultra sensitive to lag.

    I have my phone set to 60hz sence I bought it 1 year ago. Redmi note 11 pro 5g. That phone has 120hz but that's not why I bought it... I woud rather buy 1-60hz variable then 60-120hz. To me, battery life is way more important than feel of smoothness. 👍

      I don't read while I scroll, I read then scroll then read again... 😄 10% battery life from 120 to 60hz.

    Bro you can see 120hz difference in other phones Except Samsung Ans apple
    Use any other companies phone both with 120 hz and 60hz
    You will notice the difference
    As Samsung And Apple are already very well optimized That even 60hz on them work quite smooth

    Nah it's definitely not overrated since most games nowadays requires the 120hz refresh rate to achieve that smooth 120fps gameplay.

    I can clearly see the difference between them honestly, but i think 60hz isn't that bad unless you are a serious gamer.

    i upgraded from the iPhone SE 2020 to the iPhone 13 Pro. I can tell you, the moment I turned that thing on it was this dramatic difference. My wife has a iPhone 13, completely new and it feels slow when I use it. It’s just so obviously different.

    Just like HDR on TVs, it's a marketing scam. It doesn't look any better to 90% of the people that use it

    If you’ve been using a high refresh rate screen you will notice I’ve been gaming on 144hz for nearly 2 years now and seeing this type of speed come to my phone is wonderful. It’s becoming more mainstream with the new consoles using 120hz and more people learning about it and using it, so no doubt people will see the difference more and more

    once you try high refresh rate for a couple of months, its very hard to get used to 60hz again, high hz gets you hooked on it pretty easily ngl

    I think higher refresh rate is better on budget and midrange smartphones. I currently have galaxy a23 and when i disable 90hrz it is laggy af, 90 hrz makes scrolling so much smoother.

    The problem is they gave option to have 120hz but the software wasn't spitting out 120fps.
    notice how scrolling and playing in 60hz are totally different experience.
    Games looks nice in 60fps - 60hz but scrolling looks bad because they're only giving us like 15 fps that's why it looks shit

    I don’t care much for 120hz. Isn’t gonna make videos go more than 60 fps not to mention most phone games aren’t even 120hz compatible. It’s literally a gimmick. I had both a 120 and 60 hz and no difference watching movies or playing mobile games.
