Thank you so much for sharing your calving video, fantastic filming very informative commentary. Felt your frustration watching it all, but really appreciate you torturing yourselves to bring your knowledge to us watchers Keep up the great informative videos Take care all
If you've ever wondered why a cow or ewe is so sensitive to being watched while in labour, it's simply because they are prey animals. They've evolved knowing that they are at their most vulnerable point while giving birth. Predators will stake out a herd during birthing season, because grabbing a newborn or even just the afterbirth is the easiest meal they can find.
Some cows need a lot more assistance. The wrong bull on a smaller cow, narrow pelvis, or overly fat cows, especially hfrs need more assistance. Poor bull choice etc can lead to a miserable calving season. Minimal interfering, easy calvings make a stressful, busy time of the year so, so much easier. British friesians, cross breds, are better breeds to calve themselves, as opposed to high yielding holsteins, I know that.
Call her Vito, like a Mercedes van. Bit smaller than a sprinter. God I make my self laugh😂😂.
