  • Hiking the Israel National Trail - Day 52
About 1 Mile past Kinneret overlooking the Sea of Galilee to the first quarter of Amud Valley. We enjoy some incredible views of the Sea of Galilee but again the heat was tough to hike in. 19.8 miles hiked today.
Me and Di are hiking the Israel National Trail, a 1015km trail that goes straight through the heart of Israel. We are wild camping where we can and we’re heading south to north.
This is a daily Vlog series of my hiking adventure and I’m editing and uploading on the trail as I go along. I only have basic equipment (my phone) so apologies if the audio isn’t great in places. I’m just working with what I have.

What you saw was a vulture. Normaly you can see them gliding around. Watching them resting is a bit rare

Awesome thank you 🙏🏻 my first instinct was it’s a vulture but I met a hiker who saw the footage and said it looks like an eagle which planted a seed of doubt in my head. This was my first sighting of a wild vulture 😊 which is cool. Thanks for your comment 👍🏼 much appreciated.

Greetings Ryan & Di. Still killing it with the mileage but able to enjoy those magnificent Sea of Galilee views. Peanut butter pretzels are the bomb and really good energy boost and the salt is good for retaining body fluids. Spectacular view just before & during your descent. The rock formations in Wadi Amud were spectacular. All the best, soldier on: one love from Boca. W.

Wadi Amud was just amazing, there was also some caves there which people lived in 2000 years ago. In Vlog 53 we continue up the Wadi and it was one of my favourite days on trail, a lot of wildlife sightings too 😊 peanut butter pretzels are definitely the bomb 😎

It was a Vulture . Great hike, tough to walk with that heat

Cheers mate 🙏🏻 it was definitely tough in the heat. The strategy was get up early and get some miles in before it got crazy hot, then chill and relax in shade until it cooled down a bit then do some evening miles.

That’s the beauty of thru hiking, you have all day to walk so even though we are plodding slowly and taking lots of breaks we still travel pretty far each day 😊 this was some of the best views of the whole trail.

Nice videos, but on the other side of the lake is still Israel, not Jordan. It is the southern part of the Golan Heights.

Thank you 👍🏼 at the time I thought it was Jordan as the Jordean border was heading up in a straight line. I didn’t realise across the lake was the Golan Heights. Thank you for correcting me & thanks for watching 😊
