That 1990-91 O-Pee-Chee Premier set should be at least 50% of what the '86 Fleer BK is. Packs should be a few hundred a piece and they can be had for $30-40 bucks. It doesn't contain a "Jordan" but still numerous HOF'ERS, print run, small set (132), similarities..etc.

Cujo is in the OPC Premier set. I suppose you consider the 1991-92 Upper Deck Czech set an oddball/parallel, but the Kariya card is worth a mention. Jagr is still active in the Czech league and has expressed interest in returning to the NHL.

I’m going out for the day for a medical appointment but I can explain why the 90-91 rookie card class is so insane, best class all time not only in hockey cards but all trading cards possibly. I’ll do so later tonight. Quick note, players 21-25 would be even more interesting to list since they won’t be as obvious and thus more revealing, guys like Tkachuk and Brind’Amour. Also, there should be an honorable mention on 91-92 Pro Set Platinum S2, Fred Rogers rookie. Awesome vid, we love you for your hockey takes.
That was a great video 👌 thank you for this hockey content. I was actually lucky enough to keep my jagr and have it still in good shape. The premier rookie also.
the 1990 hockey class is arguably the best class in all of sports history...it is loaded with hof rookies that year...i love that 1990 score set..that set is so underrated. not to mention the red/white and blue colors of the set.
Someday that Score set will take off I think. The totality of RC player selection is great. The difficult borders with those colors you mentioned are great. The problem with that set is the print run was too high to meet the hockey demand. However as the years go by and the demand rises the supply will dry up. That's how the '86 Fleer BK changed. In 1990 we saw '86 Fleer BK hand collated sets on shop shelves for $15 ea all over the place! I'm not saying the Score will be $100k a box. No way. But there will be a increase once the chase is on for True Gem 10's.
Wow a couple of months ago i bought a couple of big boxes of early 90s hockey at a garage sale. Didnt really know the value of any of it but i literally have a multitude of each card you just shown all in mint condition. Also a treasure trove of wayne gretzky. Video was very helpful. Thanks!
There was a lot of key rookie cards from 1990 because the NHL saw a huge migration of players from Europe and Russia during this time. Another factor for a few of these cards is in typical Topps fashion for hockey, they often wouldn't feature a player in the set for their rookie season but would wait a season or two. For example Mike Madano, Jeremy Roenick and Ed Belfour (to name a few) all have their rookie cards in 1990 sets but were all in the NHL for a least 1 or 2 seasons or more prior. Topps didn't take many risks and since the Topps and O-Pee-Chee brands had the full hockey card market share up until 1989, I guess they could do whatever they wanted to lol I recently finished up research for a Top 10 NHL rookie cards of the 1990s and even covering the entire decade, 5 out of the 10 cards were from 1990 as well. Great video as always Chris! Really enjoying the hockey content, keep it up!
Gr8 video and content Chris.. Thank you for doing this for the hockey card enthusiasts.. I am not but I can appreciate other sports cards and I remember getting the Lindros back in the day and that card was 🔥 everyone and their brother wanted it..😂 Well done mane.. Stay safe homie..👍💕🔥⚾😷
Thanks again for the hockey vid, the hockey faithful are as always grateful. As to why the 90-91 rookie card class is so good... 1) First year other companies made cards; before, Topps would wait sometimes years to give a player a card. Other than rare cases like Lemieux, Topps always waited for a player to play more than a full season. 2) Multiple generations of player classes, 90% UD, 10% Score going deep on prospects. Plus an exceptional rookie class in 89-90 (Modano, Roenick, etc.), and insane draft in 1990. You can see the generations by looking at the 1OAs as RCs in 90-91: Modano 1988, Sundin 1989, Nolan 1990, Lindros 1991 in the future. That’s four+ draft classes including one generational class 90, one generational player 91 Lindros. So we had the standard Topps rookie class, plus last year’s picks playing like Sundin, then last year’s absurd first round (Jagr 5th overall, Brodeur too plus another like 12 guys who made at least one All Star team), plus Upper Deck’s WJC Team Canada so you get Lindros in Score and Niedermayer in UD WJC TC for players not even drafted yet. Oh and I forgot to mention the iron curtain coming down so not only satellite countries like Czechs and Jagr, but two full generations of the best of Central Red Army’s greatest starting squads
USSR squads, old guard - Makarov, Larionov, Krutov, Fetisov and Kasatonov...With that ridiculous rookie class, it was Makarov who won the Calder in 89-90. The new guard was where the hobby excitement was in Fedorov, Bure and Mogilny plus some outliers like Arturs Irbe. So those three things...iron curtain coming down, new companies coming in and pushing the limit, and finally some absurd rookie classes and draft 1990, 1991. The sick thing is the 91-92 class was very good too but by 92-93, UD had depleted the stock. One side note, another contributing factor is the new influx of hockey card collectors, many coming from baseball in 1991, liked collecting goalies. So before, there was only one goalie who was playing and being collected: Patrick Roy (goalies were considered too crazy or erratic to be collected). After the 1991 class, you had Belfour, Brodeur, Richter, Kolzig, Joseph, Hasek, Potvin, and many others not noted since they were flashes in the pan.
Hey Chris, Great post keep the hockey videos coming! I've got most of these cards multiple times. Can you do one from the l 60's and 70's. Lots of great Bobby Orr cards from those years that the non-hockey collectors might benefit from. Cheers, stay safe.
I'm so fortunate. I sent a pair of Jagr OPC rcs to PSA two days before they doubled their prices. Then two months later just mailed away rcs for Lidtrom before PSA shut the gates. Maybe I'll see them next year LoL
I have a lot of hockey cards still at my parents place in boxes. I am sure I have some of those cards. I use to collect cards back in the 80s and 90s. I needed a video like this to check to see how much my collection is worth. I don't even know what PSA even is at this point. Subbed and will keep learning from your channel. Thanks for the information .
Nice video, that's the only era I ever collected Hockey cards. Some years are just really solid for rookies, 1990 must be that year for Hockey. Ungraded copies of those cards can be had for cheap since so many were produced, I picked up a lot of them a year or two ago and was fun to have copies of cards I never had as a kid.
Belfour best rookie is his upper deck i am glad you did this list this era hockey cards needs to be recognized so many great players. I am pretty much hockey only collector, and boxing cards
I watched this video and broke out my old cards from that era. I have a Selanne Upper Decl rookie card where there’s three of him in the stages of shooting. I also have some of these from the list. Never ever knew any of their values before. Cool video.
Great video, Chris! I was surprised that Curtis Joseph's best RC was the Topps version and not OPC Premier. It must be due to the pop report: 13 Gem Mint 10's of the Topps, (with only 32 copies graded by PSA), and 417 Gem Mint 10's of the OPC Premier (out of 1376 copies graded). When grading gets back to normal, it may be worthwhile to buy some raw Topps CuJo's and get them graded.
I unfortunately didn't pick up any OPC Premier back then because already the packs and cards were selling for a lot. I think packs were going for 10 dollars each.
Hi Chris, sorry I haven't checked in lately. I have always loved collecting hockey 🏒 from the very beginning of my collecting. I own pretty much every one mentioned, English and French copies. Finally my Nordiques made it on your show. Talk to you soon my friend.
The Score Future Superstar Eric Lindros Canadian version sold for $30 CDN back in 1990...my father bought three of them at that price. IMO Lindros carried a lot of hype, but definitely lived up to it. He definitely deserves his HOF induction.
I pulled a sweat Brodeur RC and getting it graded. Thanks for sharing as I'm going to open 1990 UD cards for my Chanel. Hockey is not my sweet spot but I like to rip anything lol
Great list! One itty bitty suggestion/request when you do these lists - when the highest value card is the French or Canadian version, it'd be great to also mention the American version price as a comparison. I have the US version of most of the French Upper Deck or 90 Canadian Score cards from your list, and now I'm curious what the price difference is...
I own every Nick Lidstrom rookie card. I’ve been a collector of sports memorabilia and cards for 30+ years. I’m a die hard Detroit Red Wings fan. If you look at his rookie card from Sweden, they spelled his name wrong which adds value. It’s a upper deck card. They spelled his name wrong on a few of his rookie cards. I’m a season ticket holder for the Red Wings. I’ve meet quite a few Red Wings throughout the years. Nick gave me his stick and signed it. He also signed the rookie cards and jersey. As of right now I don’t have any plans to sell any memorabilia. One of my prizes possessions is a 2001-2002 jersey signed by every player on that hall of fame Cup winning team.
Real nice. Die hard wings fan also. I have those rookies also. I have a bunch of Yzerman, Federov , Probert… lots of bubble heads and couple sticks. Gretzky, coffee, Yzerman
Oh wow. I got into hockey in the mid 80s and collected cards from 89-03. I remember pulling Forsberg, Pronger, Kariya, Iginla, and Hasek rookie cards from packs. I bought Brodeur and Lindros, though I forgot how much I paid for those. I know it was less than $30 each back then and felt inflated but I didn’t care. Nice to see them still with good value.
I have all these cards raw tons of them. Should I pull out the best and have them graded when the backlog clears up???this was really good hopefully you do more hockey.
The reason that there were so many rookies in the 1990 season is because in 1989 the Iron Curtain fell and it allowed many of the players from the Soviet Union Czechoslovakia etc etc etc and other Bloc Nations to finally come and play in the NHL instead of just for the national team.
It's also interesting to note that 1989-90 was the last season that we saw just the Topps and OPC sets. The addition of the OPC Premier, Pro Set, Upper Deck, and Score sets the following year couldn't have been more timely.
Hockey is sooooo underrated, thanks for enlightening the young collectors

I have a lot of hockey cards still at my parents place in boxes. I am sure I have some of those cards. I use to collect cards back in the 80s and 90s. I needed a video like this to check to see how much my collection is worth. I don't even know what PSA even is at this point. Subbed and will keep learning from your channel. Thanks for the information .
Happy to hear that and welcome to the channel!
Great vid! Funny, when I look back, I have a lot of these cards except the premier likely bc it was the most expensive.
This was right up my alley. I was heavily into hockey cards in 90-92. Thank you for this. Can you do one with same years for NBA, NFL, or MLB?
Appreciate that. I have actually already done 90s videos of the other three sports.
Thanks for the vid, have a few of these no doubt they’re PSA 10!
Thanks for the Hockey!
Thanks for the info. I tried building a 89-90? Topps set from packs. Collation was not my friend. Wish I looked out for and kept these.
Belfour best rookie is his upper deck i am glad you did this list this era hockey cards needs to be recognized so many great players. I am pretty much hockey only collector, and boxing cards
Love the hockey card videos!!!
Keep these hockey videos coming!
I liked this very much.
I watched this video and broke out my old cards from that era. I have a Selanne Upper Decl rookie card where there’s three of him in the stages of shooting. I also have some of these from the list. Never ever knew any of their values before. Cool video.
The Selanne card you're talking about is from 1993-94. His rookie card is from 1991-92.
That Lindros was the card to get when I was a kid. Still have two. US and Canadian.
Great Job!
I unfortunately didn't pick up any OPC Premier back then because already the packs and cards were selling for a lot. I think packs were going for 10 dollars each.
love your shows best you tube card stuff
Hi Chris, sorry I haven't checked in lately. I have always loved collecting hockey 🏒 from the very beginning of my collecting. I own pretty much every one mentioned, English and French copies. Finally my Nordiques made it on your show. Talk to you soon my friend.
The Score Future Superstar Eric Lindros Canadian version sold for $30 CDN back in 1990...my father bought three of them at that price. IMO Lindros carried a lot of hype, but definitely lived up to it. He definitely deserves his HOF induction.
Wow, I absolutely have that Jagr rookie. Amazing
I pulled a sweat Brodeur RC and getting it graded. Thanks for sharing as I'm going to open 1990 UD cards for my Chanel. Hockey is not my sweet spot but I like to rip anything lol
Great video, like see your hockey videos. Take care 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Great list! One itty bitty suggestion/request when you do these lists - when the highest value card is the French or Canadian version, it'd be great to also mention the American version price as a comparison. I have the US version of most of the French Upper Deck or 90 Canadian Score cards from your list, and now I'm curious what the price difference is...
man 1990 was such a hot year....I missed the hobby by a year or so
Great video.
You made me remember that i have 3 binders of hockey cards from the 90'. ;)
I'm looking at them right now and see if i'm lucky!
Should I pull out the best and have them graded when the backlog clears up???this was really good hopefully you do more hockey.
great video!
Great video. Curtis Joseph did have a RC in OPC premier. Card number 51
Good vid. Keep some hockey coming if you can. I have a bunch of these cards to sort through.
Curtis Joseph "Cujo" is in the OPC Premier Set, I have a bunch of them
The most obvious of nicknames
Card #51
Same here wasnt sure where he got that from
@@newmoneyest6547 I think it may have Chris Berman from ESPN
I might have the two Pittsburgh pens rookie cards but not graded. So I guess get them graded!!!!!! Thanks for sharing
Good shout Paul. I bought the Topps set back in the day for that precise reason.
