Your hair is growing! Is it just me, or do locs pick a month of THEIR choosing to show length? My locs looked the same for 6 months and then they started getting major hang time. I love this journey. I wish I had started sooner!
YESSS!! 😂 my locs are shoulder length now but shrink up to my neck. Especially after the retwist wears off
Mine do the same. At 12 months my hair had looked the same for about 3-4 months then at the start of month 13 my hair just dropped into a new length! I love love love it!
Right 😂😂 my locs are a good 4-5 inches past my shoulders but after that retwist wears off or right after I take my bonnet off it shrivel up 🤦🏾♀️. I’ve been loced for 19 months and I still hate wen it shrivel up 😂

Yes, sis. I had a stylist detox my lics before and I'm gonna do this for myself. That shampoo is my favorite now, I tried it a few months ago and got hooked. I never thought about the whole process with the sage to set up energy during the detox...but I love that idea. I think it will set the tone and help prepare the mind. Thanks for sharing
Water is a powerful element, it's essential. I never think of it as a moisturizer though. I know a lot of people think that water moisturizes but I've learned that moisture comes from water if you drink it because it hydrates.
Water technically doesn't moisturize when it comes to hair/skin, it wets, once it evaporates you're usually left with dryness unless you live in the tropics or a place where the air isn't dry and there's no winter or you change the water by adding leaves/herbs etc....basically using it as a medium to transfer the goodness/benefits of the herbs to your hair.
If water moisturized then we wouldn't need to apply lotion, body butter, oils, leave ins etc....after washing our bodies/hair.
Buildup is real so for moisture, I use to use distilled rosewater (adding silk peptides or silk protein kicks the moisturization into next level) but then I discovered aloe vera juice and it was a game changer. Healing my scalp and moisturizing my locs.....win win. I get the big bottle of aloe vera juice from Walmart.

Yesss I try to detox once a month. I also put lemons in my water as well( i rub lemons and tea tree on my hair it makes my locs super soft)🦄💜

@westindieRay first time in your Chanel. I just came through while researching about locs. You, my Dear stole my heart. I am 52 years old. I suffer from Depression, PTSD and Anxiety. Not to mention that I am going through the worse divorce in books. You have given me hope on my journey to self love and spirituality. I’ve shave my head mane times to numb the pain. But I decided to let my hair grow. I have a concern about it, I suffer from Chronic Migraine and I get a treatment every 3 weeks on my scalp(injections), I can’t have anything tided on my head because of the pain. However, YOU have given me HOPE TO BEGIN TO LOVE MYSELF AGAIN. I do have crystals, moon water and I am also Orthodox. I believe there’s a lot in common between us despite our age difference. I will keep watching your videos and recommendations. I will also send you a picture of my journey to my new me. Please, believe that you are not alone. There’s is someone sharing your pain.
I’m thinking about combining some of my locs because the hair around my hairline is thin. But I definitely want to try this detox out before I do that!

one of the best loc detox I've ever done where it penetrated deep to the core bringing buildup, lint etc....closer to the surface was with bentonite clay and acv, I used coconut vinegar instead though because I can get it locally and it's way cheaper than acv.....under 2.00 for 750ml
So when I say it penetrated deep, it basically revealed that my longest & thickest loc wasn't actually one loc but a marrying of 2 or more locs.....yup, it basically penetrated so deep that it showed each individual locs that had joined together......my locs are over 25 years old and it was at the back of my head, lol.
I joined some locs together a while back and I was able to pull them apart after using this mixture, lol, it was then that I learned to braid and then use a crochet needle to join locs.
So in terms of prep, I heated the vinegar before adding it to the bentonite and I made the mixture very watery. It penetrated deeper and washed out easily, it's messy though and don't use metal with bentonite.
Just be warned, it will pull things closer to the surface of your locs. So if you're not ready for that, don't do it, lol
It's the best I've seen when it comes to loc detox, not taking anything away from the acv rinse because I've done that also.
I've started adding herbs/leaves, to the warmed vinegar for the additional benefits, i.e. rosemary, hibiscus, stinging nettle, neem, oregano, fennel, moringa, cloves. I figured if it's going to sit on my locs/scalp for more than 10 minutes, might as well take it up a notch.
What I do sometimes is add some of this mixture to shampoo before I wash my locs, I learned this from another ytuber and it makes perfect sense and works great.
Did you mix water in this mixture, or was it only coconut vinegar and bentonite?

Time stamp: 16:53- I feel like the detox was more so for the stuff that you have been dealing with when it comes to Life (traumas, grieving, hardships etc...) and then the products. So to remoisturize after I don't Think is putting the Same traumas and Energies back in your life... Lol if that makes any sense.....
