She compared a cup of the solution to what it looked like after she used it and bath #7 was the closest to the original but it was still dark compared to it. It probably looked a lot worse in person too.
That was really good to see a REAL person do an ACV deep wash!!! I've been taking care of my mom's hair for over 10yrs & I've JUST started hearing about this recently!!! 💜THANK💜YOU!!!💜
I want to say Nicole Yvette Brown (not sure if I am spelling her name right, but I love her!) I want to say the majority of this isn’t actually dirt, but product that just isn’t washed off. Her hair is pretty healthy looking, and beautiful!
lhamilt I've shaved mine several times. Just remember, it grows back! Also, i notice several comments about your voice. Checkout voiceover opportunities for extra income. Be Blessed in Jesus!
They make inflatable sinks that are normally used for bedridden patients, but I think it would be great to be able to lay down while the locs soak. I don't think you could or should use the boiling water in it though.
It would probably be more effective if you did a really good rinse before the second bath. Idk. It seems like it could help pull a lot of dirt out before the second bath.
Rinsing your hair in between each bath would have helped with the water staying so dark each round..if you would have rinsed you would have probably only done 3 or 4 soaks but either way you got it clean!
When I first did mines I sat my locs in the water for like 25 to 30 minutes and then I did it once again, I do it at least every 3 to 4 months and trust me the water gets better looking 😂 if u do it every 6 months to a year of course the hair will definitely be dirty like that every time even if u wash ur hair every 2 weeks to a month.
I loooove your voice and how calm you sound! Also, that little “cleansing song” was so cute and nice to listen 👂🏻 Also, it was a great tutorial. Enjoyed it a lot even though I don’t have locs 😅
if you do the baking soda first and then do the acv after it will help prevent you from getting that over stripped dry feeling in your hair. they counteract eachother to a degree as one is a base and one is an acid. they dont fully neutralize when mixed but they are definitely better used separately. nice video though!
Heyyy Lydia! Good to see that you're well. 😊 That ACV soak is the truth! A tip for your future loc baths: keep a coffee/tea mug close by, so that when the solution is cool enough, you can pour over the parts of your hair that the mixture cannot reach, namely the crown of your head. I also try to pour it directly on my scalp to dislodge any stuff there. Big up to Whitney's new Melanin hair care line! Now you got me interested in trying it out.
I grew up with well water and once a month I'd add baking soda to my shampoo and it helped remove build up. Wish I knew about this even though I don't have locks. I'm sure it is super cleansing on the scalp!
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱 It WORKED!!!!!!!! My son has had locs for THIRTEEN years and I maintain them myself. Thank you so, SO MUCH!!! P.S. Your voice cleansed my soul🤤🤗
I'm here for this loc bath!!!👏🏽 I'm going to definitely try this at home, and add a few drops of essential oil for fragrance to the last bath. I'm just prophesying that I don't have the patience for 7 loc baths though😂
Thank you for showing what you put in your locs after the baths! I am going to do this to my sons hair this week and was worried about them drying out. Great video.
Depending on your scalp type, witch hazel does a great job cleansing the scalp. If you have very dry scalp though, it might over dry since it is a natural astringent. Plus, it is very hard to find it w/o added alcohol.
Ihamilt, great video, I did this once myself and it does work, didn't do it as intensive as you though. I recently tried a bentonite clay cleanse and OMG, my locs are sooo much lighter/cleaner/softer. Just light and fluffy, lol, it did pull up lots of build up/lint to the surface though. Very noticeable, so that's something to be aware of. Best treatment I've done. I would say this should be done on mature locs because it does go really deep. It pulled apart some of the locs that was combined for years. Not totally but you could see it was combined. I made mine with coconut vinegar and ACV, warmed it up and made the mixture. I made mine way more watery when compared to most YT videos I've seen. Worked incredibly well though. I had to rinse, rinse, rinse and repeat, lol to get the water clear though. The clay wasn't hard to wash out, it's just that it's pulls up EVERYTHING, so lots of rinsing before you get clear water lol. I love how light a free my locs are. Whatever method is used, a locs detox/cleanse/bathe is a must on mature locs. I would say once or twice a year for sure.
I hope this won't sound rude or disrespectful... But after seeing all that dirty water after 7 baths.. Before all that.. Before the cleaning.. How did that hair smell? Just wondering.
Not disrespectful at all! My hair generally smelled/smells like faint hair product (scented oil, shampoo, etc). I think that the reason it doesn’t smell like straight up funk is because I do not use a lot of product on my hair. If I had a bunch of gunk in it, I think it would trap smells more.
Omg do you realize how much money you could make doing audio books, speaking on commercials, infomercials, self help tapes. Your voice is AMAZINGLY SOOTHING 😍 and comforting (if that makes sense)... Ps for the sake of your back and neck go on amazon and get the inflatable basin for the tub or you can lay in the living room, watch some tv and soak. I got one for my daughter ACV washes its so helpful. And Maybe increase the amount of the ingredients it will pull more out in one bath. I usually only do 2 for my daughter and it works 🤷🏾.
Voice is extra soothing lol and it doesn’t hurt that’s she’s funny af 😂🥰😂 attempted to watch another before I got to this one but the chick clearly had no idea what to do or how to convey it and her voice was hard to bare🤐. Absolutely using this one for my cleanse attempt ❤️❤️
Wow! Those are thick and pretty! And I’m jumping on the band wagon and agreeing with a lot of the comments you really do have a very lovely voice and well spoken also. Very pleasant to listen to.
Thank you for the tips!! I've been wanting to try an ACV wash, but I don't have your length. Trying to figure out how to pull it off without scalding myself.🤔
Paula I think it’s totally doable with a shorter length! If you spritzed the warm solution on your locs until they’re sopping wet and let it sit and then wash out, it could have a very similar effect. It’s not exactly submerging the hair, but letting the solution sit in it for sure could help!
Tons of other have already said this, but you have a very lovely voice! I could hear you on NPR talking about Norwegian weight lifters or something haha
I sure did keep them! While I don’t think I’ll reattach back the way it was, I have contemplated extending my locs using the ones I cut off. I know it would be an all day, expensive affair tho lol. We shall see!
It could be the duration of how long you are soaking them. Fyi unless do a full rinse in between the baths, its gonna look like you aren't making progress. Your hair looks beautiful.
Thanks! This was helpful...I never thought of adding shampoo to a loc bath, but I will give this a try. Question: do you think you will ever grow out your hair on the sides? Or will you cut it all off at some point?
I think the shampoo definitely helped! I for sure am going to cut it all off at some point in time, but no time soon. I’m still enjoying my locs! 💁🏾♀️
The best part of the video is the end result. I don’t know why anyone would complain. But some people are too dramatic. 😂 New subscriber! Great video ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I really like that you added hot water and clear shampoo too the water plus you dunked your head inside the solution more then once. If I do this every 3 months do you think that is too often to do this bath once every season 😊
I don’t have dreads. I watch these types of videos because it’s satisfying...yes, I’m weird.
No judgement, I watch dr pimple popper!

Same it’s just so amazing 😉 and satisfying to watch 😁
Now I don't feel alone 🤣
Oh thank god im not alone!#
Is it only me or is her voice real soothing
It really is. She needs to do those asmr videos.
It is!
she sounds just like Crazy Eyes from OITNB or Bismuth from Steven Universe (same person. fantastic actress)
I loveeee her voice
Musg be just a few of you. I'm not feeling it 🌝
She’s pretty & gives off good vibes🍒🙏🏽
Thank you ☺️
Girl, you now have a radio voice! Loved the video. Great footage and explanations.
Might have a new side hustle!
I’m so annoyed you have more locs in that one section than I do on my entire head 😂
Lmaoooo, solely genetics!
I was going to comment the same thing lol
Same. My head is small though....😂
Same 😂😂
😂😂😂
The dirt doesn't bother me at all. I love seeing anything being cleansed. Its so refreshing. Very nice and thorough video by the way.
Thank you, I like the cleansing vids too
When you use apple cider vinegar, the water is never going to look clear like straight up water. Your hair was likely extremely clean by bath #7.
She compared a cup of the solution to what it looked like after she used it and bath #7 was the closest to the original but it was still dark compared to it. It probably looked a lot worse in person too.
You should get a gig narrating audiobooks. I love your voice!
Louise Treadwell yes that’s what I was thinking !
You should read bedtime stories! I am in love with your voice. Your locs look so full and fresh after the baths.
I’ve been seeing a lot of comments on my voice, lemme find out I could have a new side hustle on my hands! lol Thank you
@@lhamilt I would definitely let you talk me to sleep!! Your voice is very calming.

I’ve seen so many loc bath vids and this is still the MOST thorough. My favorite loc bath video.
Thank you! 🥰
a lot of work, you were very patient. your hair looks lustrous, dark and beautiful - worth it!
Thank you!
They look lighter afterwards! More bouncy.
Agreed!
I don’t even have dreads but I found this video so satisfying to watch. Thank you lol xxx
I love seeing dirt when it’s coming off of things because it means things are getting clean. So this is a happy video for me.

Wanting to add, I know she washes, but sometimes the products can still build up even with regular washes. Either way, her hair looks great!
Yes cindy 💖
@@lhamilt You should sing more. Your voice is soothing
When you pull on your hair and it just springs back up at the root 😍😍😍 money shot

Thank you!! ☺️
WOW!!! The locs you have left are DOUBLE the thickness of my locs on my WHOLE HEAD!!! So BEAUTIFUL!!!
That's what I was thinking!! Mine is naturally thin. Her hair is so thick and gorgeous!
I do have super thick locs!!
You'd look good bald too. You have a really great face.

Did it help clear your scalp at all? I’m curious if ACV would clear my dry scalp
It definitely cleansed my scalp, but the dry scalp for me is remedied *for me* by using light oil.
Depending on your scalp type, witch hazel does a great job cleansing the scalp. If you have very dry scalp though, it might over dry since it is a natural astringent. Plus, it is very hard to find it w/o added alcohol.
