I had a kidney stone attack while I was in Bello, Colombia. I went to the hospital for a CT scan, and my entire bill was $55.00 USD. Even though I have health insurance in the US, if I didn't have it, it would have cost me $3,000.00 USD in the States.
Probably more than that
Get well soon! Preach! Preach! Preach!
Was this with Colombia health insurance?
No, this was out of pocket. Best $55.00 I've ever spent. 😂
What you are saying here is very true. It is a very opportunistic culture, particularly in Medellin. The hating on gringos is really only true in Medellin, not in all of Colombia. But people in Medellin blame everyone else for their problems. If you even mention a problem with the city or with Colombians, they go apeshit.
Yes 100 true but we gringos bring that arrogance with us to their country so they will expose us and take advantage of us. We left USA for that reason now we trying to make this country the same. Be safe
I appreciate your honesty bro
Great content, Kari. Keep it coming! 💯✊🏾🔥🔥🔥
once again i thank you for the sometimes distressing info on colombia 🇨🇴🇺🇸🇯🇲👍🏽
good video Kari, my buddy Ed R told me to check your content out. Remember we have to be humble ambassadors so we change our image in the locals eyes, because they are ready have a perception of us baked in stereotypes. Keep winning and remember be humble, we are outsiders still but building a network, one Colombian at a time
Language barrier is on the ex-pat… learn Spanish-problem solved …agreed, Spanish is relatively easy to learn…. I disagree with “many people speak English in Medellín” a lot of people don’t speak English in MDE… thank you for the VID✌🏼
Brother Kari,
Keep up the great videos, please post videos of motovlogs and the locals and best places to eat, ride, smoke and etc.
Love from TO 🇨🇦
Be careful bro. Stay aware of your surroundings. Appreciate your content.
Decent advice for the most part
Been living in Medellin for 5 years. I have only seen two of your videos (The other was about how you are considering leaving because Medellin exacerbates your emotional state). I identify with much of what you have said in both videos. You can experience a lot of small indiscretions here everyday, so many that sometimes you are unable to digest, accept, and recalibrate between indiscretions, which sometimes makes all of the ensuing indiscretions that day "the last straw." I believe that trust is a valuable commodity and that It is impossible to be comfortable without it...I find that I am always uncomfortable here no matter what I am doing (i.e. Conducting business at the bank or the cable company, or simply walking my dog). Sometimes you have to keep your head on a swivel here and that's really not much fun..
That level of discomfort as a foreigner is one of the reasons I decided to not get a place in colombia or Brazil. I choose Portugal instead.
I hope things get better for you in Colombia. Try to look at the positive of living there. And try to surround yourself with better people. A lot of gringos try to date girls they meet in parque lleras or dating apps. That is a recipe for disaster. if you act as a gentleman and treat people with kindness, its only a matter of time before things get better for you.
I notice you mention many times Asian countries but not Africa or the Caribbean which also affordable and great place to live. You are also right saying that Colombia and south and Central America is closer to USA if you get home sick
I'm going to give you some advice, don't be aggressive with those people who interrupted you in the park, they interrupted you for one thing, they wanted to know what you were doing, because those people come from the poor neighborhoods to sell drugs to foreigners, and they don't like being filmed. You tell your stories from your perspective, but a local like me tells you how foreigners have unfortunately changed the lives of Colombians for the worse, the Paque Lleras was not full of prostitutes like it is now, it was before a place where families Couples and friends were having a good time, now it is a brothel and a number of criminals selling drugs to foreigners in the parks. among other problems that tourism has generated in this city.
Let's not act like Colombia was a paradise before. There are no free lunches. Tourism is bringing in gringo dollars and making Colombia an international destination independent of the drug industry.
Foreigners are not brining the drugs and prostitution. That's like the uS blaming the immigrants for the prostitutes and drugs in our country. All these things were present before the foreigners arrived.
@@ericpowell4350 bringing many of the wrong kind of tourists, or the ones who come long term and style themselves "expats" with no effort to integrate, only complain.
Another Paisa blaming foreigners for the problems they created. You shouldn't allow women to sell their bodies on the street in the first place! People shouldn't be selling drugs in the first place! Colombians have ruined Medellin/Colombia themselves and then you're shocked the you are attracting gringos who do drugs and buy prostitutes. Things don't happen in a vacuum. You receive what you put out into the world!
The word you wanted was “sociopath,” which means consistently showing no regard for right and wrong and ignores the rights and feelings of others.
It's definitely different than living in the USA. I love it, I've been here 4 years and I live in a regular neighborhood. I have to renew my 3 year visa next year. Get out of Poblado and ditch those tourist glasses.
Great 🎉job … keep it up
Cool video, the dating in Medellin is dangerous.
Agreed, customer service sucks in COL.😊
👍
You forgot comparing women/dating, the #1 reason expats even exist today
Dang that brownie experience is crazy! I am sure in their head they were thinking "this gringo is probably filthy rich, so why does he care about this?" They have this strange idea that because one dollar is 4000 pesos or whatever, everything in Colombia is 1/4000th of the price that it would be in the US.
How about walking down the sidewalk and the freaks are walking 3 or 4 people abreast blocking the whole sidewalk so no one can pass...Spacial awareness doesnt exist here....
The inflation is insane here! I'd like some pocket relief LBVS Plus the women are fun. :)
you should do summary below your videos bro
