Why would you back it with mono? I mostly surf fish, we use braid backing to longer fights but top with bigger mono because braid gets cut alot easier on reef
I didn't have the line for what I wanted to do, I usually have a mono backing because braid can slip around your spool with enough tension applied. For my are I just throw 65lb braid with a mono, or dacron leader
I use a penn spinfisher vi 8500 with 440 yards of 80 lb braid for sturgeon on the big Fraser River here in BC Canada Rods a 11 footmDiawa Sealine rated 17 to 40lb test
@@ThueyOutdoors it's REELY good.....solid as a tank.....I landed a close to 9.5 footer from a dock with it.....picks up line fairly quick at 41 inches No flex or problems reeling under heavy load.....drag is very smooth with a ton of stopping power......its actually IPX 6 water seal.....the long cast and bait runner versions could only get IPX 5 so they just rated them all 5 to save customer confusion and complaints. It's not a reel I would want to cast lures all day....my 6500 Saltist is better for that but for chucking bait the spinfisherVI is great....not saying it couldn't cast lures but the Diawa is smoother and better balance with 48 inch pickup....the 6500 Saltist was just loaded with 500 yards 50LB Jbraid with 30,feet of 60lb mono topshot for my trip to Mexico for Spring break
Thats a crazy big Rod!! Seriously insane hahahhaha
That's what she said😂
Reel
@@911stud6 penn batte 3 10,000
@@TJXHT definitely not your average river fishing reel, 2.45lbs, it puts the hurt on the big fish tho, 40 lbs of smooth drag is 🔥
@@TJXHT what's your biggest catch on it?

Jeremy Wade would be impressed by that rod/reel combo no doubt.
The Man, The Myth, The Legend! "FISH ON"
Peen the only reels on our boat . 4 of the Battle 3 [ 10,000 ] on down to the 500 . Built to last
That thing is a beast lol
I'm going to try to catch a shark this month on it😂
Just got this reel, got just shy of 600yds of 80lb braid, and honestly probably could have fit more on it just didn't wanna overdo it too much
I have a Penn 10500 and it’s amazing
Can never go wrong with Penn! what do you fish for???
That'll be good for a tuna set up
Is it too heavy for casting almost 40ozs.seems to be heavy reel
It's casts like a catapult! 8 oz of weight is easy to huck, no birdsnests either! It is like casting a surf rod!
Im putting this on a 5 foot micro rod
Bluegill set up💯👌
What rod are you using
Uglystik bigwater, I have a video reviewing it! I'll put in description
@@ThueyOutdoors thx!

that's some "interesting" mono-braid-mono sandwich you got there 🤦♂😂
The Mono Had Sooooo Much Memory, I replaced all of it with braid😂
