      @@TJXHT definitely not your average river fishing reel, 2.45lbs, it puts the hurt on the big fish tho, 40 lbs of smooth drag is 🔥

    Why would you back it with mono? I mostly surf fish, we use braid backing to longer fights but top with bigger mono because braid gets cut alot easier on reef

      @ThueyOutdoors  Рік тому

      I didn't have the line for what I wanted to do, I usually have a mono backing because braid can slip around your spool with enough tension applied. For my are I just throw 65lb braid with a mono, or dacron leader

    Jeremy Wade would be impressed by that rod/reel combo no doubt.

    Just got this reel, got just shy of 600yds of 80lb braid, and honestly probably could have fit more on it just didn't wanna overdo it too much

    Is it too heavy for casting almost 40ozs.seems to be heavy reel

    • @ThueyOutdoors
      @ThueyOutdoors  8 місяців тому

      It's casts like a catapult! 8 oz of weight is easy to huck, no birdsnests either! It is like casting a surf rod!

    Rods a 11 footmDiawa Sealine rated 17 to 40lb test

      @@ThueyOutdoors it's REELY good.....solid as a tank.....I landed a close to 9.5 footer from a dock with it.....picks up line fairly quick at 41 inches
      No flex or problems reeling under heavy load.....drag is very smooth with a ton of stopping power......its actually IPX 6 water seal.....the long cast and bait runner versions could only get IPX 5 so they just rated them all 5 to save customer confusion and complaints. It's not a reel I would want to cast lures all day....my 6500 Saltist is better for that but for chucking bait the spinfisherVI is great....not saying it couldn't cast lures but the Diawa is smoother and better balance with 48 inch pickup....the 6500 Saltist was just loaded with 500 yards 50LB Jbraid with 30,feet of 60lb mono topshot for my trip to Mexico for Spring break
