fun fact: penultimate is an adjective which means "last but one in a series of things; second last." So I used it wrong thinking it was the last in a series... but you corrected me incorrectly.
Not that I was going to get this 3 pack in the first place, despite seeing reviews saying "hey its not that bad." I was waiting on your review to see if maybe one of the figures were worth it so that maybe when they reuse the mold later I'd just pick it up then. As I expected, you tore into these figures, and you tore into them *hard.* I'm sorta happy Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man is the best one from this pack. I am so disappointed Tobey looks so goofy, he has bad articulation, and he's not built like a "Spider-Man." And for Tom, I have the orginal figure from the armadillo baf wave and I custom painted him so I have no real need for him. Thank you for this review Anthony 👌 Darwin crappin on the figures as well lmao 21:00
This is what happens when you have 3 different artists being commissioned to sculpt these figures who aren’t in Kahoots with each other. Now Tobey and Andrew being proportioned weird is fair because they are both older (particularly Tobey) and aren’t in shape anymore. But in the real world, Tobey is extraordinary skinny with big biceps so the figure definitely doesn’t meet that with the thick thighs. Just weird. Your paint apps came out good. My set had off center eyes and missing/ sloppy paint on tobeys eye. Don’t even get me started on the web lines. Head articulation is ABSOLUTELY CRIMINAL. Overall I’m happy we got them. They do the job. Price is inexcusable.
Thank you so much for this review, Anthony. I'm so happy you were able to compare the range of movement of the Jada figures to Hasbro's latest release. It proves they don't have to add fancy joints for better range, they just have to do them the right way This 3-pack is so bad, all of the figures look like they come from a different company, it's so weird.
Gotta agree with Anthony here. I had this preordered since it went up but cancelled after seeing the figures (which I usually never do). They just look off and they will almost definitely release solo figures with unmasked head sculpts later. Oh yeah, also WAY too pricey.
Same. Had it ordered and canceled even before I saw this review, primarily because of images of the Tobey fig up close. Not going to pay that much to get two figs I like for the most part and one I'd immediately want to melt down into a coaster.
When pics first came out of this set, I said that they are an easy pass for me. HASBRO just threw this out to satisfy fans of the movie and nothing more. You said it correctly: "cash grab".
i left a comment on fwoosh channel about this set being horrible, and his response to me was "figuarts collector?" as if that's even a real response to criticism of gloating about an awful product.
Fun fact: the ToyBiz Spider-Man 2002 movie figure has a single pall peg in the head and at the base of the neck, and it has better range than any of these. It's not as refined as Jada's or imports, but it beats Hasbro's
The Tobey Spiderman literally looks as if the Uncle Ben from that movie donned the costume for… reasons… They don’t even look like they’re from the same line. If you were to tell me Toybiz made one and Select made one, I would totally believe you. The set isnt worth 90 in execution and conceptually without the unmasked heads really isnt worth 50/60 bucks.
Great review… I’m SO glad I passed on these. They look rough. My biggest want when Hasbro announced these was to get them into the poses from the iconic shot of the three of them on crown of the Statue Of Liberty, but there is absolutely no chance of that. Not even close. The box art itself is evidence of that. I forked out 💸 and got the Iron Studios statues and couldn’t be happier.
The copium collectors have been huffing with this 3 pack. And I mean it is either this or the sh figuarts versions which are 3x the price but objectively at least the tobey in hand is a great figure. But they removed andrews headsculpt from the figuarts release which is incredibly disappointing. Just overall nobody’s made definitive versions of these spider men yet.
It’s really sad they cancelled the Andrew head. The smiling Tobey head was clearly meant to specifically represent that iconic picture of him and Garfield at the end of the movie.
This review just makes me even more excited for Anthony’s line of figures. There’s no way his line won’t be top notch after the years of examples of what not to do, and how much he’s bashed their nonsense over the years.
When it came to these figures, I'll be honest I wish we had gotten the more muscular Tobey McGuire Spider-Man from the Raimi Trilogy. I get that he's older now, but actors get digitally de-aged and he's supposed to still have super-strength. I basically wanted the old Toy Biz version with modern engineering and sculpting.
Yeah true, there's no reason for an older Tobey Spidey to have gained weight. He went from super skinny to ripped in the first movie from the spider bite. Unless old Tobey has been pounding down donuts nonstop and does no crime fighting, then there's no reason for the weight gain (obviously IRL Tobey put on weight)
@@chewymew I’ve seen a lot of people putting a Tobey head sculpt on the Mafex Spider-Man (the one with the darker blues) and it’s super close to the Raimi trilogy appearance.
The SHFIGUARTS is kinda like that, still a tad pricey but at least you get good range and accessories out of it, or you can wait for the Mafex figure which is sure to at least be better than Marvel Legends.
@@ginogatash4030 I have that one, the only things I don’t like about it are the weird hips the way the inner upper arms are flat. I look forward to the Mafex release.
I think the web accessories have a triangle shape to them because the original TASM Spider-Man figure had a gripping, so he could grip the end of the triangle. His wrist also had the vertical hinge, so you could put his hand through the circle and grab another part of the web rope. It should have always been more circular though
Instant pass for me after seeing the way tobey spiderman sculpt looks. I don't know how to explain it other than being a long time action figure lover, but a spiderman figure should feel perfect, like the right amount of skinny to make him do all the poses but enough muscle to make him feel like a solid figure. Idk I can't just tell that figure does not meet that criteria
And somehow people still defending this set 😂. Even when they show the renders back then, it already looks terrible, except for Andrew's spidey and the repainted Tom's spidey (which is surprisingly still not the accurate looks for him despite releasing this set almost 2 years after the movie was released)
I didn't even realize these figures didn't include hands to hold onto those web swings, that's extremely funny Hasbro continues to prove that they have no idea how to make action figures
even if this set represents the final battle where tom wasn't wearing it, i still wish that was the suit here instead, then maybe i could ignore the issues with tobey more
With the Toby Mcguire spider....I think they were going for his look of now...being older, not being in his late teens-early twenties like he was in his Spiderman movies
I was looking at my Spiderman classics red and blue spider-man the other day, a nearly 23 year old figure is capable of doing a split. Its like mirrors in video games, it's a lost technology apparently 😆
My Toybiz Super-Poseable Spider-Man from 2004 and my 2006 Marvel Legends Loki can also do a full split Hell, my Shikamaru figure from the Mattel Naruto series from 2002 can also do a full split, and you know it's bad when one of the crappy Mattel Naruto toys has better articulation than Marvel Legends
Great review Anthony! Your review of retro carded Daredevil a couple years back pretty much got me back into collecting, and I always find your reviews very helpful in deciding which figures to get. I'm gonna give this one a pass!
Seeing the articulation comparisons from the hasbro crap to the fei long was so good that I just ordered the fei long immediately after this video lol. Another miss for hasbro
This set is the biggest mixed-negative experience I have from Legends. It'd be a bit more forgiving if there were some additional accessories like the alternate heads or some kind of base themed after the Statur of Liberty to justify the price but I don't recommend it at full price. Honestly I recommend the SH Figuarts Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man even though the hip joints look weird and the mask looks off (same for the Legends figure though it's at the fault of the design in NWH)
The $90 price tag alone is reason enough not to buy this set. Who the hell does Hasbro think they are in charging such a ludicrous about of money for a three pack like this? I’m seriously betting that people are really only buying this because they’ve been brainwashed by Hasbro feeding them nostalgia, and because Hasbro fanboys get so sensitive if people don’t agree with the criticisms. This is a circumstance of quality over quantity, and if we aren’t getting our moneys worth out of a $90 3-pack, then what’s the point, especially if Hasbro keeps doing this?
I’ve been waiting for this knowing that you were going to rip them apart. I agree with you on Toby. The Tom figure is total re-use but it is the best of that suit, maybe even of Tom. I disagree with Andrew. For marvel legends, that is better than I could ask for. Looks worlds better than the figuarts. Hopefully mafex puts this set out and we can all be happy 😂
What’s funny is the one I wanted the most is pretty bad. I was surprised how much I enjoy the Andrew Garfield figure over the Toby one. It’s really disappointing to be honest. JadaToys has made beautiful figures and they are so much fun! Packaging is also really dope! Great review, I laughed a bunch 😂
Depending on movie pics, Andrew is that color. But, I think if Tobey had the darker Andrew blue, & Andrew had the lighter Tobey blue, both would've been better imo
I think the triangle isn't the handle. It's more of a mounting point for hanging. The figure should hold on to the twirls side. It would make more sense if that actually came with a hand that can hang on to it like a fist with a port or a tight grippy hand
The amount of mileage you have gotten out of Darwin to where hes shitting on the spider-men...too good man. Then your gallery, its just spite. Fucking hilarious
Thanks for the sincere review Anthony, will cancel my preorder now! Thanks for saving me (and surely plenty others) some money! Maybe on 50% or more clearance I‘ll pull the trigger later on, but not anymore for full price. Thanks!
Shame I haven’t yet found those Jada SF figs here in Germany, seen the Mega Man ones listed, but not yet the street fighter ones…bravo to Jada for showing how it’s done. In a Perfect world, Hasbro will feel the pressure and finally get their act together, but we’ll see…
Those crappy knockoff Spider-Man toys you would find at a street market for like 2 bucks at a street market in some random country like Armenia are better than these
For me personally if anyone likes the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man in this 3 pack over the other two Spider-Man, that’s a problem especially if anyone looks forward to getting all three Spider-Man the Tom figure is Mid, the Tobey Maguire one is bad and Andrew one is the better figure in this pack. I wouldn’t want to get a 2 or 3 pack and would only like one outta the 1 or 2 figures included. I may not like this marvel legends Tobey Maguire Spider-Man but I am happy that this version of Spider-Man is back in merchandise again.
It’s weird to me that this is the same toy company that came out with bangers like the Walgreens Thing and the Deluxe War Machine. Now they’re coming out this this crap: a “human” cosplaying as Spider-Man, a Spider-Man with fine aesthetics but poor articulation, and a mediocre repaint. All for what probably amounts to a little over $100 with shipping/tax. Those are Mafex prices and their recent comic figures, especially Gambit and Psylocke just blow anything Hasbro has out of the water. Even as individual $30 releases, the Neca deluxe figures are just better sculpted and feel more like collectibles. It’s so amusing and frustrating watching people defend this crap.

fun fact: penultimate is an adjective which means "last but one in a series of things; second last." So I used it wrong thinking it was the last in a series... but you corrected me incorrectly.
It proves they don't have to add fancy joints for better range, they just have to do them the right way
This 3-pack is so bad, all of the figures look like they come from a different company, it's so weird.
Been waiting for your review since this set was released it was worth the wait
When pics first came out of this set, I said that they are an easy pass for me. HASBRO just threw this out to satisfy fans of the movie and nothing more. You said it correctly: "cash grab".
The 3pk was so bad Anthony put photos of Fei Long at the end to save us from watching them any longer
i left a comment on fwoosh channel about this set being horrible, and his response to me was "figuarts collector?" as if that's even a real response to criticism of gloating about an awful product.
Fun fact: the ToyBiz Spider-Man 2002 movie figure has a single pall peg in the head and at the base of the neck, and it has better range than any of these. It's not as refined as Jada's or imports, but it beats Hasbro's
Ah yes Toybiz, the people that made a toy dog that comes with little puppies that LITERALLY DRINK FROM IT'S NIPPLES, and that's just creepy and gross
@@FredFuchs570 What does that have to do with their Spider-Man figures?
@@chewymew because they make shit like that dog, just like that their figures are shit
Agree
Just got the super-poseable Spider-Man 2 figure and articulation is better than these
I canceled my preorder as soon as I saw the inhand images. I’m happy with my figuarts Tobey
The Tobey Spiderman literally looks as if the Uncle Ben from that movie donned the costume for… reasons…
They don’t even look like they’re from the same line. If you were to tell me Toybiz made one and Select made one, I would totally believe you. The set isnt worth 90 in execution and conceptually without the unmasked heads really isnt worth 50/60 bucks.
First honest review for these ones I’ve seen, thanks Anthony
My pleasure!
My favorite look is Tobey's Spider-Man. I love the silver web, the spider logos design in the back and the chest and the mask is freaking cool.
Tobeys suit will always be my favorite. I grew up with the raimi movies, love em.
Thats y i watched your reviews coz unlike other utubers some tend to be biased coz they get sponsored or free figures from the "main suppliers"
TASM 1 suit is my favorite live action version. I hope we eventually get a Marvel Legends figure of it. That and the Human Spider wrestler suit!
@paulrippcord506 Oh yeah, I've seen that, it looks pretty good!
I just raised my arm to check if I had a shoulder lump.
And?
@@AnthonysCustoms I had it! 😆
I think the web accessories have a triangle shape to them because the original TASM Spider-Man figure had a gripping, so he could grip the end of the triangle. His wrist also had the vertical hinge, so you could put his hand through the circle and grab another part of the web rope. It should have always been more circular though
Thanks for this great and honest review. You just saved me 100 bucks 👍
Thanks for the honest review been looking for this video!
thanks for making these videos you help me to see if i want to buy characters or not so thanks!
Glad I could help!
"Potatoes and sock" made me have to pause the video from laughter. Man I wish we had a compilation video of your greatest quips.
You and me both!
I don`t know why people keep buying spiderman figures from hasbro, they all are terrible. Bad articulation and bad sculpts
And somehow people still defending this set 😂. Even when they show the renders back then, it already looks terrible, except for Andrew's spidey and the repainted Tom's spidey (which is surprisingly still not the accurate looks for him despite releasing this set almost 2 years after the movie was released)
I didn't even realize these figures didn't include hands to hold onto those web swings, that's extremely funny
Hasbro continues to prove that they have no idea how to make action figures
My personal favorite suit from live action Spider-Man is the Final Swing suit from NWH. I like the brighter colors.
even if this set represents the final battle where tom wasn't wearing it, i still wish that was the suit here instead, then maybe i could ignore the issues with tobey more
Potatoes and socks 😂😂 great review dude
Never would think id ever hear Tobey having "a low soggy ass" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Still better than those crappy Spider-Man figures you would find in a street market in Armenia or something like that
With the Toby Mcguire spider....I think they were going for his look of now...being older, not being in his late teens-early twenties like he was in his Spiderman movies
The figure doesn't match the movie.
I was looking at my Spiderman classics red and blue spider-man the other day, a nearly 23 year old figure is capable of doing a split. Its like mirrors in video games, it's a lost technology apparently 😆
My Toybiz Super-Poseable Spider-Man from 2004 and my 2006 Marvel Legends Loki can also do a full split
Hell, my Shikamaru figure from
the Mattel Naruto series from 2002 can also do a full split, and you know it's bad when one of the crappy Mattel Naruto toys has better articulation than Marvel Legends
Great review Anthony! Your review of retro carded Daredevil a couple years back pretty much got me back into collecting, and I always find your reviews very helpful in deciding which figures to get. I'm gonna give this one a pass!
That's awesome!
Jada put the whole toy industry on notice with a single wave of 3 figures.
I absolutely love it!!!
Great insights, thanks!
Really appreciate the rating based on price range too! Helps when comparing different lines 🎉
Seeing the articulation comparisons from the hasbro crap to the fei long was so good that I just ordered the fei long immediately after this video lol. Another miss for hasbro
Have to agree, the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man is my favorite. Both looks. Really the films in general were my favorite. Tobey is a close second.
Lol the pic with Darwin says it all! Excellent review as always Anthony 💚💜💙❤️💖♥️💙💜❤️💚💖💛
LMMFAO the way you described the Toby figure reminded me of Spooder-Man. If you haven't seen those videos yet you should definitely check them out.
JADA Toys is the new action figure king of the $25 figure!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Hasblow figures are plain garbage nowadays 🤣🤣🤣
The slaughterfest is up🤣🤣🤣 and my guy is 1000% right as always
“This one looks like he’s made out of potatoes and socks” literally couldn’t be a more accurate statement.
Tobey toy biz >>>>
Just starting to watch. Oh boy…
In a Perfect world, Hasbro will feel the pressure and finally get their act together, but we’ll see…
Hahaha! Poses Jada in the end instead. That cracked me up!
OH HELL YEAH CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU TEAR APART THIS 3 PACK
Marvel Cosplay Legends
Tobey suit is just iconic
This looks like a bootleg 3 pack you get with different looking proportions and brands, they just needed a light up chest skskskksks
And some random guns and swords accessories lol
@@chewymewAnd a sound box that plays the most random Chinese music
Seeing as I am three days late to comment, I will leave my opinion(s) on Hasbro as a whole on the next Hasbro Marvel Legends review.
Those crappy knockoff Spider-Man toys you would find at a street market for like 2 bucks at a street market in some random country like Armenia are better than these
3:09 Absolutely. That suit was perfect.
Anthony and Critical Drinker should do a collab next time..both have great sarcasm 😂
I think he's too poplar to want to bother but... Ask him. I like his content.
I HAD A FEELING YOU GONNA BRING A JADA TOYS😂😂 since in your last review you mentioned marvel legends
Here come those marvel legends fans. On their keyboards ready to defend hasbro and their garbage. 😂
they have to help defend the multi-billion dollar company against the consumer
@@AnthonysCustoms you've helped me alot lately on what I choose to add to my collection. Thank you.
