Non-players couldn’t imagine how much work and time -years-goes into playing like this. Excellent.
Thank you Peter!
This cut is so fine on many levels, phrasing, tone, interpretation, plus he is very patient in the execution, I love it
Thank you Bobby
I just cannot understand why anyone could dislike this video
Clowns! Lol
Yeah….I’ve seen this a lot on UA-cam…..I’m a semi-retired professional musician….been supporting myself through music since 1964 with a masters in music comp and studied with Joe Pass in the mid 70’s and have seen many, many guitar videos on UA-cam and don’t think that I’ve ever seen more than one or two that didn’t knock me out, and if they didn’t, I wouldn’t hit the thumbs down. I guess “there’s no accounting for taste?”
Some people do not understand the beauty of jazz.
Jealousy
Trolls?..🤔
Dear Chris, I know that this fantastic video is not a real lesson, but the arrangements you usually show and play are, in my opinion, the best guitar lessons that can be found on UA-cam. When I look for a new version of a song of a certain level, in Chord Melody, it means that I am not a newbie, so I don't need to be shown the chords one at a time, in a 20 minute video.
Personally, I find your videos to be perfect: a nice shot, no words, and above all fantastic, perfect arrangements. There is no desire to show things that are too complicated for the sole purpose of showing off (but most of the times very challenging!), nor are there any arrangements that are too simple, just to attract beginners, and increase numbers. I have been following your channel for years, and as I improved with jazz and Chord Melody, I have always found the right videos here (in your channel), for all levels of difficulty. Never banal, always very swinging, very interesting ideas..
Guys, listen to me: this is how you learn to play Chord Melody the proper way, because you don't need someone to tell you all the chord positions, it's better if you try to copy what Chris plays, the lead parts etc., use your brains. And please look his face while he's playing Jazz Guitar: that's a big lesson, too. Also look at the other videos from Chris Whiteman, there are real lessons, too, and those are invaluable.
Thanks Chris. This version of Savoy is wonderful. And the "solo" part.. Uao.
Greetings from your fan Duke, from Turin, Italy.

Whoa, this is exceedingly impressive and awesome-especially, most especially, the solo! I've heard many renditions of this song, but this is by far the most superior, and the most swinging! (Especially that astounding solo!) :)
Thank you my friend
Have you heard Joe Pass' version on Intercontinental?
Great feel and sound for the song, thank you that was so nice!
Thank you!
I always listen to you with great pleasure, Chris 👍☺️

I have the same guitar hanging on my wall! You sound fantastic.

Very good recording. Great jazz guitar tone. I learned this from a Kenny Burrell version from the 1960s.
Thank you
This is fabulous Chris, I've been having a go at this and it's coming along nicely, the swap over from pick to fingers though,😐 but again, love your playing and thanks for the vids.
Thank you Anthony
Hi Chris,
Really nice and smooth. Love the sound and playing ! I've bought some of your arrangements and I take a great pleasure to play these jewels :)
Thanks so much for your support Eric!
Reminds me the version of Henri Salvador, which was a great guitarist too!
Your solo version is crazy, you have such a great swing!

Thank you! Cheers!
Masterful. Joe Pass is smiling down from Heaven.
Thank you David!
Great Chris,I liked so much this swing.how I can to achieve this level?🤔🤔.
thank you. Transcribing great players and repetition is the key. Transcribe something you like and play it thousands of times with attention to detail.
@@ChrisWhitemanGuitar thanks Chris,I will follow your advice😀👍👍👍.
Running out of adjectives Chris! Loved the phrasing in your solo.!
Thank you!
Yo, this is very easy to just DIG into. It's awesome! Question though. Is this a transcription or just you doing your thing? Also... Do you live in NYC?
Thanks! It is an improvisation. I don't live in NYC
Que maravilla ...........!!!!
thank you!
Chris, your playing is smooth, and complex, yet so pleasing. I have been playing jazz for many years, have learned many different techniques, theories, etc but still lack in putting it all together. Do you take on students? Thank you Ariel J. Quintela.
Thank you Ariel! www.chriswhitemanmusic.com/guitar-lessons
Hey Chris! ¿Do you have any suggestions about Solo Guitar guide books? wonderful tone!
Hi Mila. I learned a lot from the Joe Pass chord solos book. It doesn't have tab though, only standard notation. Here is a link. bit.ly/JoePassChordSolos
This would be a great transcription to work on ua-cam.com/video/VQ959oQN8sM/v-deo.html
Brilliant, as always.
Beautiful tone too. What kind of set up do you have to capture the tone so well on vids.?
I assume it can't be just using a phone here?
Anyway, excellent stuff!
thank you, i am recording into logic with and apogee duet interface
I really love it :)
It would be so great if you brought out a book teaching jazz guitar
I have started a book. Not sure how long it will take though.
@@ChrisWhitemanGuitar thats fantastic, it would be invaluable 👍👍
Cool! Chuck Loeb played this song.
Thank you!
Just killer
Thank you!
I’ve got a 53 ES 125 myself which I haven’t been playing much these days (I fell in love with Vintage Japanese classicals), mind if I ask what kind of strings you put on your 125?
Daddario round wounds. .013
@@ChrisWhitemanGuitar thanks! I was wondering if the tension might be a bit much on such an old guitar. Mine had dried out and needed a fingerboard replane, refret, humidifying & a couple of braces reglued. I keep the old girl in the case now.
Just Woow!
Thank you Patrick
Lovely playing Chris fair play to you. A bit of a head scratcher the difficult parts. A transcription would be helpful keep up the good work and stay swinging!
Thanks James!
muy linda versión
Thank you!
Hi Chris! I truly enjoy your chord melodies and I admire your guitars. It seems that you also play Gibson ES 125T? Besides playing I build guitars on a hobby basis, and I am interested in building a ES 125T style guitar. But plans are hard to find, apparently - would you by any chance know where I could get them? Regards Erling
Thanks Erling. Unfortunately I have no idea where to find any guitar building plans. Maybe there are some Gibson groups or forums online?
Hi Chris is there a chord melody music sheet/ tab for your arrangement I can purchase?
Sorry, no
No worries! I already have a ton of material you are sharing on your Patreon page to keep me busy and inspired for a long time I'm really excited about it!@@ChrisWhitemanGuitar
wow.
Yes!!
Thanks Jon!
Great
Thank you!
Hi, Chris! That Ivy-League is a recreation of Fender Havard amp right? That sounds great!!
Hi Taehee. Yes, it is a Fender Harvard replica.
At last, I ordered a quilter 101 reverb. It'll be delivered soon..
Awesome. I really hope you love it. It is a great amp!
Thank you Chris. I swapped my amp's stock speaker with Cannabis Rex recently. I hope it would be a good match!
Hi Chris, loved your arrangement. Do you have this arrangement for sale anywhere ?
Hi Mark, I don't have this one in print anywhere. I hope to get around to transcribing what I did. Thank you!
