Finally! A video made by a professional giving a critique of several approaches to the problem. I had to watch four videos of people trying the iron trick for the first time before I found a video of someone with experience. Thanks for taking the time to make this video!
The iron method worked!!! Omg thank god. I bought a new wood table and put my hot tortillas on it. I almost cried when I saw the big white circle stain.
I’m in a nice hotel and left a glass of water on the wooden desk like a dummy because I thought it was coated in poly. Wrong! I used the iron trick very carefully on the medium heat setting, checking it frequently and constantly moving the iron over the shirt. It worked!!!!! Thank you and praise Jesus! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
ThisIsTheEnd Same here, nice hotel...sweating beverage. I did not have access to an iron but instead used a blow dryer and dry wash cloth and it worked. I heated wood and then placed wash cloth over it and rolled an orange across the wash cloth for the heat impact effect.
This just saved my special table after years of trying all the others! I bought my first really nice table 4 years ago and my son ruined it with a hot cup of coffee while I was out of town. More damage followed from my other kids. My mistake for not having a glass topper. I have been so mad for 4 years, and tonight I restored my Scovby Danish table using this technique with the lacquer thinner and stain. So Thankful for this video!!!!
Literally a life saver!! I used the iron method with a cloth tshirt! I’ve only have my new kitchen table for about 1 year and I thought it was a lost cause! Thank you so much for this video!
Thank you so much for making this video! I came home this evening to find my wife furious because I left a bottle of spray cleaner with bleach that had a slight leak on her grandmother's dining room table. It had left a white ring on the table around the bottom of the bottle and after trying to scrub it off with no success I turned to UA-cam and came across this video. I just want to say thank you for creating and posting this video, I tried the Restore a finish along with the Lacquer thinner as you instructed and after about five minutes of light scrubbing with 00 steel wool, the stain was gone and you could not even tell it was ever there. So again thank you so much for your break down of what works and what doesnt, it saved me a ton of time trying to figure it out.
All the other videos say to use low heat on the ironing. I used the medium heat as you suggested and was able to watch the heat/water mark disappear as I worked. This was a large mark made by a coffee maker that sat here for over a month. Thankyou sooooo much. This was the absolute best method ever!!!!!
I normally don’t leave reviews BUT Sir you just helped he fix my table, the iron method does work it got rid of my mug stain on my new dinning table... thank you soo much!!
Absolutely stunned. I had a mahogany table with a white/pink/purple water stain on it. Saw the 'ironing' method on here, and gave it a go. I didn't believe it could possibly work (and didn't really think anything could on the horrible mark). I was totally stunned by the result. The main mark completely disappeared, and I've been left with a slight ring on the surface. Thank you so much.
Lol same I have a water mark on my nightstand from a bowl of soup that slightly spilled and was like that all day and now im trying to see if we have an iron
Lmao I have zippers on my American eagle sweats for the front and back pockets. I sat down one of our barstools for the island and scooted in. The zippers fucked it up bad and now I’m watching to see how I can restore the color after I used sand paper to get the deep scratch out
Thank you so much for this advice. I purchased a 50 year old sewing machine in a wooden cabinet. The wood had numerous water stains. I used the last method from your video; Restore-a-Finish, lacquer thinner and steel wool. After soaking in overnight, the cabinet looks brand new.
I'm so scared to try this technique but I bought a second hand dining table and it has heat stains and white marks on it which they never mentioned to me :(
This "blush" remover was miraculous. My custom table was destined for expensive work until we saw this video. The water mark literally disppeared in front of our eyes. Thank you so much!
Hubby left heat marks from various food dishes. I used my travel iron on almost-hot setting and a t-shirt and it worked great. Total fix for free. Thanks
The Howards Restor A remedy did the trick. 5 tsp HRA and 1 tsp Lacquer Thinner. It wasn't easy getting into the bottle but after watching another video that demonstrated that the blue plug just pulls out that white mark was history. Thank you! This was a great tip!
Thank you so much for this video. Watched it in its entirety (well, my wife did after I forwarded it to her) and, following your suggestion to use whichever method worked, started with the iron and cotton cloth. This was to remove a couple or more water marks on the surface of a writing bureau. It worked! Very pleased with the result and minimal cost. Just 10 mins careful heating. Thanks again.
Bought the Behlen Mohawk spray after all else failed and that has stopped my Mum from disowning me after making a perfect O white mark on her dining table. Best product I've seen in a long time. Thanks guys.
I tried this on some bad marks left by ironing on my wooden dining table, and it has completely removed all the marks. It's amazing. Thanks for the video.
Oh my goodness. This video saved my sanity (and my relationship with my daughter who SHOULD have known not to put an extremely hot bowl on the table!). I hesitantly used the iron method first because I couldn’t get the Mohawk product to ship to me. The iron method worked great - the table is fairly new and the ring was not too deep. I will be looking for Mohawk for my older pieces and/more severe rings. Thank you!
I tried a few methods I'd read online and nothing even touched the water ring stains I had. Tried the iron method you suggested and bam it is gone! Had three tables badly damaged, SEVERAL spots and the iron took care of them all! Thank you so much. Ps. I'd heard before that a hairdryer works as well, but I don't own one, so that's why I gave the iron a go.
It worked it worked!! I did the “Restore A Finish” and Lacquer thinner method and it really removed a big water ring on my wood table 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽. Thank you for posting this video!!
OMG. The iron method works. I could not believe my eyes. I had a damp spot on my kitchen table and I’m to blame for setting a damp rag there. I turned to the internet for a quick fix and came across your site and glad I did. Thank you. I learned my lesson . The spot is gone. 👍🙂
I accidentally blushed a lacquered jewellery box using a wet cloth and iron to remove some dents and scratches. 😮 Then I fixed it with a dry cloth and same iron. Worked perfectly. Thankyou. 😊
Wow!! The iron method really worked on my dining room table. We had some guests over and served soup. I never imagined it would leave a water ring. I tried mayo, olive oil but nothing helped until I saw this video. Thank you!!
Wow the ironing worked! I threw a house party at my parents place without asking and I had shot glass rings and cup rings all over. Thanks so much. Definitely a great life hack. Then I put water and a bit of oil on a paper towel and wiped and pooof magic!
Thank you so much for this video. My dining room table was my first piece of real furniture and I had put big white marks on it in a week. This saved me a lot of heartache.
Iron + old T-shirt worked like a charm. I've tried 3-4 other methods I got from different videos - none of them worked. Only the simple iron method worked for me.
Thank you thank you. You just saved my 2500$ table that i recently bought. A guest placed the ice bowl on the table and had made a mark. The iron method was perfect. With a bit mayo applied after it was gone.
Thank you for the helpful tips! The iron method worked for me and you do have to make sure you are lifting that towel to ensure you are removing water stains and not further damaging the table.
Thank you so much! Your video has saved me so much time, effort and money - now I can just go ahead and do the removal that has the best chance of working!
I would love for you to make a more informative video describing the different actual finishes and which meathod works with each different finish ie: Lacquer, polyurethane, shellac Etc. and why it works. I feel that the overall method of trying many things to see what works can possibly be very damaging to your furniture if you use the wrong technique. This is exactly why I want to be informed with exact information so perhaps a video for not just a regular homeowner but a woodworker or someone with a little more expertise in the craft that still needs knowledge in finishing.
@Jon m damn. You ask him for his cash app first so you can send him some money once you fly him out with room and board and per diem after you purchase and damage all of those pieces of furniture to video him repairing them all?
Glad I found this channel, which I've now subscribed to. Going to try the iron method first as neither the Mohawk or Behlen products are available here. The biggest benefit is not so much that these methods work, it's that I was considering stripping off the finish to remove the water marks! Has saved me a lot of unnecessary effort. Thanks.

The ironing method saved me. I had used a hand towel instead of a coaster, and a white circle appeared where my mug was!
