Brilliant video! This is just what I was looking for as I want to paint my old kitchen cupboards. I was worried you couldn’t on laminate but your video has convinced me to do this now. Thank you
Great vid!!! I did mine by rolling the cabinets and spraying the doors and drawer fronts. Spraying is much faster if your doors have more shape and corners to cover, but rolling can work but you will also need a very fine soft NEW brush to get into the corners. In this case do your light sanding with a fine sanding sponge.
One more thing!!! If you have adjustable hinges, mark the location of all the doors inside the hinge holes and mark the hinge location so everything goes back where they came from. This will greatly shorten getting everything lined up during reinstall.
Hi I live in the UK and watched your video. I wanted to paint my kitchen cupboard doors, I unable to purchase Fleetwood Bloxx-It as the company Woodies don't delivered to my part of the UK, I was wondering do happened to know which paint can do the same as the one in your video?
thank you SO much ma'am! Clear and concise instructions. Excellent. One caveat: and I don't want to be presumptuous, but ya sound a wee-bit Anglish love! Do you have recommendations of similar products sold here Norhtwest, Florida, USA? again, thank you so much for your time, ma'am ;-)
Thank you for the tutorial. You did a fantastic job! In a mobile home, I have mdf cabinets covered in what I am pretty sure is a thin glue on glossy paper. It is starting to peel off in areas that have gotten wet over the years, but the mdf has not swelled in those areas, thankfully. Do you think this method would work for these cabinets as well?
They look great! I just got a brand new kitchen and absolutely hate it. I want to paint the cabinets White from Grey. I'm so scared after spending so much money. Can you advise me please? What would you do?
If you do these regular I would think about buying a graco ultramax cordless sprayer. They are expensive but pay for themselves in no time at all. Even on normal 6 panel room doors , I gloss those in around 20 seconds
Such a great video, very informative! Considering doing this to my Mum's old kitchen. Can you replace the hardware easily enough? The brackets are a bit rusty at this stage.
Thanks for the info. Looks great. I have a couple of cabinets that have been damaged bc of water & now have places that have curled out-not just the fiber foil layer but the MDF. I’m guessing I’ll just have to replace those doors. Any advice?
I’m thinking of painting my melamine kitchen cabinets this Christmas and your tutorial is very helpful. If you don’t mind, what are your thoughts on how paint dries on melamine/laminate surfaces? Will it be as smooth as it was pre-painting or should I expect to have some texture? I’m really hoping for the former! Thanks from Canada!
If you use a roller that gives a really smooth finish to soothing the primer and paint AND use a superfine sanding pad in between coats, you should get a sprayed like finish.

Clear and straight to the point. Wish more videos where like this! Fantastic results too! 👍🏻
Thanks so much. Appreciate that
Perfect video. Broken down very simple. Given me the confidence to have a go myself
Really handy step by step. This will be super helpful for my next project.
So glad to hear that thank you
Good video, well done your kitchen looks great

ZINNSER BIN will do the same. It's shellac based.

Thanks very well explained and step by step
Glad it was helpful!

Remove the foil and paint the mdf. I have done that and it works great

I get a lot of steam from cooking in my kitchen. Would the condensation cause the paint to peel or chip?
If you do these regular I would think about buying a graco ultramax cordless sprayer. They are expensive but pay for themselves in no time at all.

The final paint colour did you used was it oil base , acrylic or latex ?
Acrylic water based paint
Love it ! What grit sand papers do you use?
Only a medium one like 180. Nothing too coarse. You want to create scratches not break the laminate.

Yes of course. Replace no problem.
Just wondering how long the paint lasted

You can remove the laminate easily with a heat gun and paint the mdf
@@Shabbyie Same issue here. Will it be the same paint you mentioned on the video?
Can you use the Beyond paints that do all the preparation in one ?
So you recommend 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of paint?
What color did you use to paint. Can’t really hear that. Great job. Love that color
I think she said Designer White. Not quite sure though.
Yes it's called designer white from Fleetwood Paints

Is melamine the same as laminate cabinets?
No, melamine is a bit harder, but you still do it the same way.
Great ❤
What is the new color on the cabinets please?
I think she said Designer White?
Which primer did you use?
Bloxx it, from Fleetwood Paints. ZINNSER BIN is another adhesion primer
Babe get a mask on... you are freaking me out lol Fantastic video thank you 🙂
Great video EXCEPT the noises from sanding and trying to scrape the undercoat/ primer off. Like chalk on chalkboard, why so loud!
can you paint laminate worktops?
My personal opinion is , I wouldn't paint anything you are cutting / preparing food on to be honest .
But you can buy new stick on foil that works very well .
Brilliant
The laminate is coming away on the doors and draw fronts, anyone seen a good video about removing the laminate and painting the mdf
Can you use the Beyond paint that cuts out the preparation ?
