Every few years, the planets align and The Taran is allowed to exit his den. Upon seeing first light, The Taran is confused - Why so few macros The Taran asks? Why does this creature have only one keyboard? The Taran cannot allow this and plans his attack. The unsuspecting computer user is unaware of the fact that it is possible, or necessary, to use 12 keyboards with his computer. As the computer user types away on his single un-ergonomic keyboard that obviously causes far too much overexertion of their index finger, The Taran strikes. The Taran reveals his secret move: ULTIMATE MACRO and the user is completely overwhelemed by the fact that now he must memorize no fewer than 1400 new key instructions on their new setup, but The Taran has claimed victory, for while the user may need to exert far too much brain power and memory, the user may now save his hands from multiple key presses for the rest of their life.

Yeah, but it'd be a lot of effort just for something that LOOKS cool: www.reddit.com/r/DIY/comments/3hq8ox/i_built_a_fullyfunctional_overhead_control_panel/
Do a quick search for "KSP custom control panel" on Google or UA-cam and you will see some excellent examples. People have been making things like this for years for all sorts of games and it's actually pretty simple. If you want to get into something like this, pick up an Arduino Uno to start learning. If you want keyboard (AND MOUSE/JOYSTICK!) emulation, you need something like a Teensy or different model of Arduino, but you literally just wire up any button you like and program it to act like a certain key.
stokos123 basically a macro is like keybinds. With the extra keyboards he can click w on one and it will undo something in a program. It just depends on what you bind each key to.
I am 95% certain I’ll never find myself in a situation in life where I’ll need to utilize this information, but this was genuinely (in my opinion) the most intriguing video I’ve experienced on this channel in quite some time. Truly living up to the name of the channel. Not to say the other videos aren’t. But I feel this goes above and beyond. Maybe I just missed seeing Taran in videos. Who else misses the old crew? Also Channel Super Fun? Oh nostalgia...
Basically, he explains all the options for productivity freaks and games that play simulator games in full simulation mode that need more than 1 keyboard to do things. QMK lets you take cheapest keyboard that you can buy (or have laying around) and turn it into productivity panel. For example, you can print icons that tell you what kind of macro is on a key and glue them to every key on keyboard that is connected to computer with QMK. Why would you do that? BECAUSE pressing ctrl+alt+shift+F3, down arrow, down arrow, left arrow (or some other combination) would become painful rather quickly, especially if you have tons of such combinations for video editing software, photoshop and similar. For example, let's say you need to press up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A Imagine that you need to do it all the time to get something done quickly and it repeats 30~40 times a day. And there are other combinations that are also used 30~40 times a day. Macro can do it in about 1~2 seconds (depending on how fast your PC works and can, without lagging, accept the inputs to get things done right). By hand (manually) it would take a lot more seconds (depends on combination and sequence) to get same result AND you need to remember ALL THE COMBINATIONS in your head. Now imagine that you need to get something done, but instead you try to remember "what is a combination to quickly select tagged items?". Time gets wasted on 'sitting at the desk and staring at the screen'. So instead of memorizing combinations you can get a QMKs and a bunch of cheapest keyboards and then print out what each key does. Will it take some time to do? Yes, it will. Will the time it has taken to set up the workspace help in months and months of mundane work? Yes, it will. For games like Arma 3 or War Thunder an additional keyboard is useful. Here, look: ua-cam.com/video/b_sOUn8_JAM/v-deo.html Try using Full Real controls in War Thunder without running out of keys to press on single keyboard. That's what this video is about.

I think that everyone at LTT would be awesome host, but they're already doing something else (great example of this by my opinion was Max, but Taran also looks good).
Taran, don't listen to the haters. Engineers do this all the time to reduce redundent work. In fact, a good part of an efficient engineers time is spent working on macros to do non value added work like retyping the same commands over and over 3000 times. The rest of their work is spent ACTUALLY figuring out how to solve problem, not the act of solving the problem itself. Just how we now use calculators to add, subtract, divide, multiply, on and on.
The majority of GOOD engineers are lazy as fuck. That's why a good engineer tends to setup such things, altough it requires some effort. However, after a single tedious setup, it works and in all the time they would need to do brainless clicking, they are now able to some work that actually requires brain or to simply sipp some coffee. Or at least any engineer I've met in my life, that was GOOD, was a brutally lazy folk, avoiding work as much they could. That's also how you can tell apart the best students. The best folks in university aren't the ones that are learing non stop without a break, but those who get similar or at least close results, without putting to much effort in.
Before watching the video: "Now, this sounds super-useful" After watching the video: "Lol, screw it, I'm fine with the 6 built-in macro keys of my keyboard"
Honestly he could have ended the video at "Razer synapse recognizes more than 2 keyboards so long as you don't buy the same one twice" and left it at that. I love his AHK content, but like.... you can legit just buy multiple razer boards and your good to go - in fact, by keeping it strictly razer, it makes it easy to import the profiles to keyboards throughout say, a home office, while having 99% of the functions that the Cosair software has (idk if you can set RGB lights based on profile - but probably?). If you scoop old razer keyboards off marketplace, it is very easy to keep the costs down.
Next video: cnc'ing the perfect desk top for keyboard management. How to quantify time saved verses time spent on each macro. How many pedals do you use for video editing? How midi can be used to turn an electronic piano into a near infinite macro keyboard.
Speak for yourself peasant (i would like to clarify to any sensitive people who read this its a joke a sarcastic sentence do not take as anything else)
Watching this video is like finding a github repository for a project that has everything laid out for you, good text formatting, links to already built executables, and make files that just work
Working as a Service Desk Analyst, I use AHK quite extensively and found more use in context-sensitive scripts. I.e. if I have certain window opened Caps Lock does one thing, but if I have another one it does different thing. Very cool stuff indeed
I have a problem at the beginning. When i press the Flash button in QMK Toolbox it says "There are no devices available". In the Windows devices it says "ATm32U4DFU" Driver is not available. 1. After open QMK Toolbox, i plug in the Hasu Converter and QMK Toolbox says in blue color: "t.m.k. USB to USB keyboard converter connected -- FEED:FEED:005B:0814....". And additionally if i am not press the button fast enough: > Keyboard init. [C]usb_state: 12 2. After i press the Button, it says in blue color: "HID device disconnected -- FEED:005B:0814...." -> Then the ATm32U4DFU appears in the Windows devices with "Driver is not available". How to bring that to work? I have fixed that: 1. Download the QMK Driver Zip File from: github.com/qmk/qmk_driver_installer/releases After unpack, click at install_all_drivers.bat 2. Open QMK Toobox, plug in Hasu Converter and press the button. Now you should get some yellow lines.

It still astonishes me that some people don't understand why he'd need so many macros. Like guys, have you ever _seen_ how a professional grade movie production work station for the editors of feature length films looks like? That's FAR beyond what Taran has set up here. So yes, if you are a full time editor you NEED these macros. I am surprised he doesn't have 2 more keyboards tbh.
All one needs to do is look at the hardware that Blackmagic Design sells for use with their Davinci Resolve software to know that the amount of macros and shortcuts one would need are insane, even with this setup He is probably only a quarter of the way to the same sort of layout that the big studios utilize. Funny enough is BmD literally gives away their software, with next to no limitations on utilization, and even buying the software is cheap, which leads me to believe their bread and butter must be the hardware for production studios.
I think you answered your own question. I've never seen a pro-grade workstation that you speak of - heck, even popular UA-camrs that give little editing behind the scenes have people working with a single mouse and keyboard...
@@chatboss000 He is a full time editor that cuts videos for a living 8-12 hours a day. He is most definitely not "doing a little editing". He has to edit videos for 5 different channels or so. That's hardly the same as a beauty channel giving their "once a week" video to someone else for editing.
@@Finkelfunk It seems there has been a misunderstanding, poor phrasing and missing words on my part. hes probably thier best editor. Look at all the effort hes done to streamline and make his work more efficient. thats a good worker if ive ever seen one, my god. hes a master at his craft.
runninggames771 Ed is also amazing. He always adds little touches that are just awesome. Check out when they decorate Linus’s office, the music and lights is an example.

impuretard this video isn’t for gamers anyways. LTT may have a lot of gaming-centric content, but it’s not a gaming channel (at all).
That's kinda rude
Hey listen me up, I think Taran should buy a heck lot of keycaps and switches and connect them all somehow with a pcb and arduino or something and make a desk full of macros! :D That would look so uniform on a desk, like, imagine.
They could totally CNC him a huge keyboard and then create the PCB and add the keys. Would 100% watch

Miss Taran a lot, his videos in ltt are all awesome

Before watching the video: "Now, this sounds super-useful"
After watching the video: "Lol, screw it, I'm fine with the 6 built-in macro keys of my keyboard"

I have a problem at the beginning. When i press the Flash button in QMK Toolbox it says "There are no devices available". In the Windows devices it says "ATm32U4DFU" Driver is not available.
1. After open QMK Toolbox, i plug in the Hasu Converter and QMK Toolbox says in blue color:
"t.m.k. USB to USB keyboard converter connected -- FEED:FEED:005B:0814....".
And additionally if i am not press the button fast enough:
> Keyboard init.
[C]usb_state: 12
2. After i press the Button, it says in blue color:
"HID device disconnected -- FEED:005B:0814...." -> Then the ATm32U4DFU appears in the Windows devices with "Driver is not available".
How to bring that to work?
I have fixed that:
1. Download the QMK Driver Zip File from: github.com/qmk/qmk_driver_installer/releases
After unpack, click at install_all_drivers.bat
2. Open QMK Toobox, plug in Hasu Converter and press the button. Now you should get some yellow lines.
Thanks, it works.

I'll clarify - I'm not saying this guy is doing a "little" editing, I meant I've seen youtubers give editing "behind the scenes" VIDEOS* with "little" being a descriptor of their detail and information conveyed.
Are you still astonished as to why people don't understand why he'd need so many macros, by any chance?
@@chatboss000 Ahhhh, that makes a bit more sense. Still can't understand why people think that though. They should know that slapping 3 clips together on a shitty Blog is not the same as Taran being a full time editor.
