I have an lq4 6.0 swapped blazer with a 4l65e and np241c transfer case with the sye eliminator. I ended up towing 8 thousand pounds for 298 miles because i had to move in an emergency and had no choice but she hauled it just fine no issues
The best way to get rid of your squatting is to ad air bags. I had a pair on my 15' 2500 RAM pulling 18K. Airbags make a huge difference, not just in squatting but also drivability. Dump Trucks have them too!
JBM 2099 just picked it up this weekend. I'll rush and make a quick update video since it's been so long hopefully this week, because it's off to the last shop to get a few finishing touches. It's hard to say how long it'll take, but there are some BIG changes in store. Fingers crossed! Thanks for the best wishes!
@@OdysseyOverland4x4 Sounds great! My son has a m1009 as his first car and we have done a ton of work to it, but really like what you have done with yours. Cant wait to see what you have done next.
@@JBM-yr3xw That's awesome! Good to hear you are so supportive of your son. If you want me to make a video on something specific let me know! I will gladly make a video and give you a shoutout! So let me know if there is anything ya'll need help with!
I built my own flips for my 1ton and pull the 9500lb dustless media blasting system and a full pallet of media with no problems. Ord equipment is stout too I’m sure they are being honest too.
When I ordered my 4 inch lift for my k5, I accidently clicked on the one with the rear blocks instead of springs. I have the blocks installed, but may swap for the shackle flip after I see more on how your rig performs.
Bear Le Fevre it's the way to go. I actually had the 4inch rear springs from RC before I actually swapped to the shackle flip. If you have a TH400 especially being that it's such a log trans, it make the angles steep enough to bind badly on speed humps and such. But with this, if you wanted to raise and lower the vehicle, now you can either get leaf springs or better yet, just a new shackle from ORD for cheap. Two bolts and you're done. So it's a better platform to grow into so to speak. I put on 35K miles on this setup, not a single complaint to give yet!
I did the 56" swap in the rear with 4" shackle flip and 6" hd shackles with the 1" zero rate offset blocks to move the rear wheels to the right location. The front has offroad design custom front leaf springs that are 5" of lift and 1" zero rate springs so 6" of lift. My question is did you have to install a transfer case drop kit, cause my rear looks fairly decent but my front looks off and am thinking about taking the transfer case drop I had installed back off to see if that helps any? Unfortunately there aren't any driveshaft shops in my area near lynchburg, va unless someone knows of a place. Thanks
put transfer case cross member back in stock place to help front shaft angles, and tom woods is online, print their measurement guide, follow instructions and they will make a beautiful driveshaft
Would you mind giving some info on those front ORD springs? Did you run without the zero rates at first but need them to clear the tires you wanted? What tires could you run with 5 inch and 6 inch? Did they sag over time?
Is there salt on the road where you drive ? Would love to daily drive mines through the winter but need to find a solid rustproofing solution for the salty Michigan winters. Going to lookup info on the rustproofing you mentioned
I like the work you have done. I just stumbled across your channel and really like the look of your K5. I am curious how you installed the overhead rack so that the top will still seal?
Jerred Boshears Hey man, same here haha. These K5s are never done. Little by little! Feel free to share how it goes! Definitely check out those rust prevention products I mentioned. It's amazing stuff!!!
Jerred Boshears Yikes. If you do any repairs, pick up some rp342 using the link in the description. That's gonna keep her clean forever! (I made a video on how I keep my rig rust free, check it out, it might help ya)
Clayton Prescott the zero rate was from ORD I believe, however there are lots of good one out there, just make sure you don't get a crappy aluminum one!
The hanger was from ORD. Using the stock hanger is sometimes considered pretty "sketchy" since some grinding of material is needed to not let the shackle to bind up. I would strongly suggest getting new hangers. A regular shackle flip kit will lift your truck 4". If for whatever reason you did want to go higher, then you'd have to get aftermarket shackles that are longer. However, since 4" is what you are going for, if you follow the list of mods I mentioned in this video, you'll end up with the same result!
With that being said I am wanting to do a 6" lift from the sounds of what you are saying I could get 6" lift up front and do a shackle flip and 2"lift in the rear to give me 6" lift all around? Or would I even need a 6" lift to fit 40" tires on a 83 k5 blazer
codykidable you are definitely going to need all 6 in, if not more unless you're alright with trimming the front fenders a little. Basic rule of thumb is 4" for 33s, 6" for 35s, 8" for 38s and so on... But that's really depends on how you wheel. If you're doing a big tire build but stay on pavement mostly you can get away with less lift. 33s on my truck rubbed whenever I went up a driveway back when it was stock despite people saying you "can do it". Anyways, yes, 6" leaf in front (you can buy a kit that might have a lift block or something, just toss em) and shackle flip with a 2" extended shackle will result in your 8". Be sure to throw in a zero rate in the rear. That's 1" thick, so technically it would be shackle flip, 1" shackle, and zero rate to equal 8"... Did I lose ya yet? Haha
Awesome thank you man the roller I'm getting comes with a 4" lift so I'll fit what I can under it for now to let me mess around in the swamp till I can do what you've recommend
Adam llaneta the block works, but this honestly is the way to go. It really does give you so much flexibility for driveline angles and such. If you are tossing in a new tcase at some point, then you can also put on some flanges. If you need help let me know!
The RealChilant I feel your pain buddy. Follow this video and you'll take care of it. Whoever says they don't get vibration without a double cardan driveshaft likely have a manual gearbox or a different drivetrain that permits a longer distance from tcase to yoke. This is by far the best solution I've found if you're stuck with an NP208
I did the 2.5 shackle flip with super 6 inch shackles on my suburban 88v20 and yes it does ride better then stock
With the 6.2L! That is my dream drivetrain I wanna put in my G3500 van! 👍👍
we need to see the evolution of this beast :)

What fuel milage fo you get with the 6.2 diesel? Is it a 400 turbo or a 700R4 transmission and what is your gearing?

What roof rack do you have?
Enjoy your channel and made me take the plunge on a k5. Question is how does the truck ride and would 35” tires be good to go?
35x12.5 on 8 inch wide /4 inch(mabye 3.5 inches) backspaced wheels.

so the shackle flip makes the truck ride better than stock??

Robert Craft yes it does, video on that coming soon!
Thanks for the content man it inspires me on my blazer build
Jerred Boshears you should keep it up. It's very rewarding when she's all done up and yours!
Oh for sure man it's got a long ways to go though

What zero rate block did you use I'm looking to lift my newly acquired K5 can you get the part from ord

Very cool rig sir.
Afternoon Condition thank you!
@@OdysseyOverland4x4 Any plans for a 35x12.5r15(KM3's are good for 45 psi) or a 315/75r16 ?

So did you use the stock hanger with the flip? I'm wanting to go to 4 inch lift but want new spring hangers also. No more than 4"

my blazer has the same paint job as yours

About $450 if I recall correctly!

The RealChilant Nothing specific. Take your old driveshaft to a shop and say you need a high angle double cardan and they will make something for it!
Dude whats the difference the 87 to 88 would love to know just bought 1 lol
Jonnys project's to my knowledge there is no difference in the way it’s all put together. You should be good to go!
