I'm so glad somebody who has trapped north and come south said it. Mink are one of the few furbearers I've trapped north and south and up north they was almost like possums for bait, and like you said it ain't that it won't take mink hear it's just not poke a hole sling some fish bed and trap and run the next. When I hear "experts" say that I know they ain't never been no wear else! Good video Dale
Chris Morgan invited me to the convention in Livingston this year Johnny Ringo. But I just can't make it this time. And the 1 y'all have in September is the same weekend as the 1 here in iowa. Thank you for watching my videos. I really do appreciate it
@@billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531 over the last little bit I've become really close friends with Paul Antzak. He really admires you and has nothing but great things to say about you. It's truly amazing to me just how far your name goes in the trapping world.
After all your years of trapping and expertise I would be curious as to what you have landed on for your preferred water trapping slide system? Maybe you could do a video about all the pros and cons of each system and what you have learned about them over the years. (Wood 2x2’s, 3’ T-bar, sacks filled with rocks, or disposable stakes for staking deep side) (wire vs aircraft cable) (predetermined length like 6,8,10’ of cable or wire wrapped around staking system with trap attached vs spooling it out while making the set on the riverbank) (fiberglass or rebar rod slide system) thanks Dale, u have great knowledge and content 👍
Collin I appreciate you watching very much. And it's gonna come as a shock to you when I tell you this. I NEVER intentionally drown ANYTHING!! I have only intentionally drown 2 beaver in my life. I wish I could make that video for you but it's out of my field of knowledge. I'm sorry.
was thinking about using pvc tubes around the sandbars and rockpiles for mink . find a good many mink tracks and poop on the logs and rocks . they do avoid the baits .
I use blind sets for mink mainly here in Iowa and when I was in Massachusetts. It works both places. I do not use bait . I do use beaver castor for them . Thanks . I was taught by a friend and fur buyer how to trap them and other animals. Thanks
@@billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531 Yes I know there is a art to blind sets. That is when you learn more of them , then just bait them , just like trapping otter . I use blind sets for them also . You welcome .
Yes it does big buds. If you can make a mink specific set that won't catch coon. Then that's the trap to use. So far I've never been able to accomplish that. Thank you for watching
just some info from drovdahl sd hellofa longliner when he set bybridges if wanted to catch majority males trap was1 inch from bridge wall if you wanted to everything put trap jaw right up against wall
This goes to a little lesser extent to several animals. A man needs to learn his own animals and areas and not just be a cookie cutter copier of sets they see in magazines and videos. Besides, it’s more fun if you think and trap for yourself. You are right about the mink.
Absolutely right Stephen. You said a mouthful. Thanks for watching. I think im coming to y'alls convention in Eddyville in September. Hope to see you there
Great info Dale, thanks!
Thanks for watching these videos
I’m in east Texas so I appreciate you explaining the different regions and painting the picture of how to set up a trap.

Yea I dont blame you for that Bill. Thank you for watching
I chuckled when you said field tile 😅
Yea I forget not everyone has those in there country 284Winchester. Thank you for watching
@@billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531 if we had them they’d be plugged with possums and snakes 🤪
Lol yea I reckon they would
ivedone this along bridge orbig round poles with boards keep dirt out take a foxtail stem put edge of trap curve it over to wall 3 inches over trap
Yes whatever it takes to narrow them down to pass over the trap Steve. Thank you
Now this is someone that understands the nuances of trapping in the south AKA possum land lol
I've trapped quite a bit down there 284Winchester. It's always a good time. I appreciate you watching
@@billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531 thanks for all the great videos. Excellent information.

Thank you Otter Cat
Jim Spencer catches a lot of mink.
Yes he does Ray. Jim and I have been friends for 30 years. He's a blind set man
Number 2 victor coil has a bigger pan for mink.

Had 3 ducks killed- all clean neck kills suspect mink or weasel these are big ducks so guessing mink
Id say you're right DH

Be tickled to have you. You’ll be right in Matt Jones’ neighborhood so you’ll get to see him too. I’ll be there if I’m still alive.
You better be buddy. Coming to see ya so you better not go anywhere lol
