You can also use the bottom edge set that Mike Smyets ( I know I did not spell his last name right,) he past away . I seen him years ago at a NTA . came out and it works on otter and beaver also also blind sets .
Yes you can Paul. Im not a big blind setter. I dont have a lot of time to hunt for perfect bottom edge or blind sets. Its just faster and easier for me to run pockets or fish stakes and get to the next spot
@@billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531 I understand you for road trapping only . I go on all private land and the one I told you that taught me how to trap otter did also with mink , He had trap 2 states in one season that is RI , MA and did all his mink trapping with blind sets . I know it is art to do. What works for one use it and also for your pocket set you can use just beaver castor. I caught them with that also. just to give more ideas
Once we get closer to season and its not 90 degrees I'll start putting out more information. But as of right now this fat kid dont do well in the heat lol. So videos are gonna be short and simple
Good video Dale. I've gotta say though around hear we blind set because to find a place to dig a pocket it would take way to long. I can spot blind set locations at 30 to 50 miles an hour. It's funny how different parts of the country are. You would spend an hour easy digging pockets hear with all the rock. Cubby are ok but time consuming as well. I should say you could easily spend and hour.
Bl8nd sets are great when you cam find them. Here where i trap in the road ditches and usually have easy digging its just faster for me to dig a quick shallow pocket and keep moving. And yes different terrain call for different strategies
Love catching mink
Me too Christopher. Appreciate you watching

Hey Dale, good video. Hey would you typically wet the pocket mouth up and slick it off so it looked like a mink had been using it??
Sometimes I do Sometimes i dont Larry Gene. I haven't really noticed that it helps or hurts either way. Thank you for watching. I appreciate it

Me too Midwestern trapper. Thanks for watching
Just caught up on yer videos Dale. We'll done again. Really enjoying them. Keep it up buddy!!
Thanks Chad. I appreciate it pal
Great tips thanks
You're welcome buddy
Would a 110/120 work as well? Obviously you'd have to make the pocket tall enough to clear the jaws.
Try it Johnny Ringo. If you do what no one else does or go where no one else will go, you're gonna catch a bunch of fur
You're only limited by your imagination. Dont be afraid to try something new
This is one of those critters I have been having trouble catching
Well hopefully Beaver Wrassler the video gave you a tip or 2. I'll try to do some more mink stuff here real soon.
