    Josh, you did it again. Took this advice to the field today, combined with tips from older videos, really keeping my eyes focused on my disc during reach back and making sure my arm stays level, getting a good spread and stagger with the legs, driving from the legs up through the body.
    I broke my personal distance record today, with the fastest OS driver I've ever thrown. 375' with an ESP Nuke (13,5-1,3)
    Keep up the good work coach!

    Good timing for the video recently been focusing, on the shoulder rotation which has added some power. Been working through the different shoulder plane angles. I'll keep the elbow suggestion in mind as I worked on it. Ty

    Thank you for this video! That second physical que about turning the disc inside out was a massive, instant help. It fixed my arm immediately and I was throwing +30ft farther with a lot more snap immediately. It was an "ah hah!" moment. THANK YOU!

    This is one of my issues, thank you. I’ve also had a time where I was dealing with golfer’s and tennis elbow, lateral, medial and ulnar nerve issues ALL at the same time! Any extra ideas on keeping that proper shoulder rotation? That key truly made me start to feel like my elbow was driving instead of swooping.

    Good stuff. Might be worth letting people know that if they've always externally rotated, fixing that issue may cause a lot of strain on their elbow at first until it gets used to it. Some people seem to instinctively externally rotate to protect their elbow from opening on the swing plane and you can get to 65mph+ with external rotation. If they fix that issue, they may end up snapping their elbow open on the flight plane at that same speed when they've never done it before at all.

    This video was a true eye opener to me! You described my problem exactly, in a way I have never seen it described. You cannot believe the amount of frustration (and yes, desperation) I have had struggling with this issue, never really understanding exactly why I tended to drop my elbow. Now, how to fix it? You say you have fix videos in Patreon? Is that true? Can you elaborate please?

    So, I know you showcased the one FPO player w the elbow dip, but I’ve also noticed Calvin H and Paige Pierce do it as well… so my question is, it’s only problematic based on the result? I.E. if you’re seeing nose up, and throwing high, then this is one thing to modify in an effort to eliminate those errors? Or… if you were their coach, would you try and correct it on their form because they could be doing even better?

  • @ricardovanpijkeren3161
    @ricardovanpijkeren3161 27 днів тому

    Heey Josh, Thanks for this great video!
    I got a question though, a lot of times my drives are way too high, but not necessarily nose up. When I rewatch myself, it’s because I lift my right shoulder and I lead my shoulder upwards, could this be the problem and does that mean I don’t lead enough with my elbow?

    • @OverthrowDiscGolf
      @OverthrowDiscGolf  27 днів тому +1

      I’d have to take a look at it to know. There are lots of reasons to miss high

    So i have a weird problem where no matter where everything looks good but i reach back the elbow dips slightly as i pull thru and the my arm unwinds into a slight hyzer. on video, almost every throw wether its a different flight angle, or distance, they all come out on this slight last minute hyzer. and this weird last minute wrist issue cuases wobble on the extreme level, like can't find a video where they can replicate the amount of wobble. and i can throw 350-400 pretty regularly max, and on a great day i can touch the high 400-500 range. but this wobble creates inconsistency across the board, speed, angle, stability, release point...etc. I feel that my problem is not keeping the disc on plane in the throw because i can not "pour the coffee" like to the level most people can bc of lots of injuries to my wrist. i tend to compensate in some way so that my wrist can stay in a somewhat fixed position id love to see a video combining yalls theories on wobble and the elbow dip. If i had money to afford patreon sub id def submit some form videos.

    I believe my problem is related to this. My driving shoulder tends to shrug up during the pull through. Likely because I’m muscling too much?

    I'm confused. Are you supposed to drive the elbow OR maintain the 90 degree angle between the elbow and shoulder? Wouldn't the latter mean you shouldn't drive the elbow?

    Weirdly I seem to be having the opposite issue lately. I keep throwing too low, I don't know if it's because I'm keeping my elbow too high and my arm is going high to low in the throw?

    Interesting stuff. Thanks as always.
    I do have a question: Around ~2:38 (ua-cam.com/video/GYxID75JlI8/v-deo.html#t=2m38s), you talk about how there's a range of elbow height. Matty O, high. Simon, low. Others.. in between. Other coaches seem to insist that Simon's elbow is WAY too low for people who aren't Simon - ie, any rec, amateur, noodle arm, what have you. Getting your elbow HIGH is paramount. Why are they so insistent on this, and you say "Simon height" is just fine?
    Or perhaps I'm not understanding, as usual.
    Anyway thanks as always for the videos and putting this stuff out there.

    • @OverthrowDiscGolf
      @OverthrowDiscGolf  28 днів тому

      The correct elbow height is dependent upon where you personally are strongest. For most people that’s between Simon and Matty

    External rotation isn't the fancy word. Supinated is the fancy word for that rotation

    • @OverthrowDiscGolf
      @OverthrowDiscGolf  27 днів тому

      Supinated tends to discuss the entire arm, including the forearm, which is why I didn’t use supinated. I was isolating the shoulder’s movement.

  • @InbredJed82060
