I was on your website but it will not let me choose a dual belt motor ESC with a 12sp4 battery. Would that cause issues? I am planning on getting 6355 motors with 107mm wheels. Would I have to move down to a 10sp4 battery? 25mph is fast enough but I’m 250 lb and ride steep hills every once in awhile. Would like the extra power
The basic ESCs max out at 10s. You’ll want to go with a pair of Vescs with a 12s battery. If you do want to go with the Dual ESC, you’ll have to come down to the 10s4p.

I'm trying to make my long board into an electric one what ESC would I need just a plug and play cheap for a A dual 550w dual motor. Really struggling bro.
Good vid. Can you bind a generic esc remote control (like the one you showed) to a vesc? I have an eBay esc/remote that is 50a dual (25a per motor) and it seems to be the bottleneck that keeps me from climbing any slight hill (and I'm in SF, so that's a prob). I know my hub motors can handle more and my batteries are high C. Any opinion before I buy a higher amp vesc? Thanks man. My whole impetus for building my own eskate was that I wanted a non longboard with a tail to make turns, which for whatever reason they don't make.
Thanks for your video. Can break it down what i need to build a mountain board. I’m planning to used turnigy motor 6374-149kv. I need help of how much many battery how much amp I would need. And a type of esc vesc I need?

I've been confused about something for a while. Why is voltage measured in how many batteries are connected in series, and not in volts? I understand that connecting batteries in series will give the combine voltage of the batteries (parallel does the same for current). What I am confused about is which is important, how many volts a battery con provide, or how many cells are connected in series? For example, if a non-standard one cell battery provides the same voltage and current as a battery with 6 standard cells, could it be used with a 6s ecs?

Hi Bro, from Argentina, thanks a lot for your video... Hey man, loving the vids. They’ve actually made me not afraid to make my own! I’m building one soon and I was wondering if I could use a different remote with the dual belt motor esc that’s on your site. Thanks!
Hi! That’s awesome man! Glad our videos could help. There is a different style of remote available on the website, but the basic ESCs aren’t compatible with regular Servo connected remotes.
MBoards okay thanks! I was just wondering because the reverse button kinda scares me, I don’t want to accidentally press it while I’m riding and fly off! Does the board have to be stopped in order for the reverse button to put the board in reverse?
@@lukeanthony4586I know this was from five years ago and you probably figured it out by now but usually you wont have any problem with accidentally hitting the reverse, like you asked, you do have to come to almost a complete stop to change it to reverse 👍 Only problem is getting to a stop light/stop sign and going to far then going in reverse a few feet and forgetting to put it back to the forward position, done it like 5 times I laugh at myself everytime😂 how many times am I gonna do it💀💀 How did your build come out? Are you still using it 5 years later? Or have you upgraded/changed everything? Just curious haha have a good day homie✌️
question, by any chance do you think the ZTW beast pro 300A would be able to be used on electric skateboards? or even the 12s 400A BL ESC for truck might it work if the A is stronger?
Do you know where I can find a motherboard diagram? Mine came with led's and has a buck module attached to it in the middle of the board... It used to work at specific voltages.. Now it never works.. But it was triggered by the rf remote... So I'm assuming the esc controlled output to the led's. Now it outputs voltage but it seems the current is limited
Hey I got your esc from mboards for one belt Motor its the plug n play option but it doesn’t brake at all my motor is from hobby king it’s 2000 watts and 45 amps and 10 s Can you please help me
The esc on the left @01:32, do you happen to know the specs and if yes can you share with us, i happen to have that on a Chinese board and need to know its max power before upgrading anything.
Almost an year and no response. Unfortunately my board recently broke down and i took the opportunity to open it apart and learn about the ESC. I upgraded some of the SMT components for better quality options, fortified some contact points with extra solder. Meanwhile you've replied solely to people who wrote "thoughts and prayers" like comments... Thanks for nothing and im not sharing with you what i learned from my experience. Unsubbed. Good riddance.
Hey man, UA-cam comments don’t always pop up for us. Shoot us a DM on Instagram or email us. We always reply to our DMs and emails. UA-cam comments are tough because they aren’t really sorted in any particular order. We always reply when we see the comments!
I have an electric long board by Hiboy, and I think the esc went out how do I tell which one to get I know it’s a dual hub one but on Mboards website for that part there is a 10s, 7s, and 6s option.
Great video for us new folk. I've got a very early e-glide off road board with a huge old fashioned 36v 1000w motor on it and a wired hand controller to a 70A idrive controller. Can you recommend an esc or vesc that would be suitable for my set up? This is a low budget, transport only board that was given to me and im using old 10ah ebike batteries so don't want to spend a fortune but may look to upgrade the motor (or replace with two ) in the future. I also build battery packs but am looking for a bms for charging and discharge control, do the esc's you use have this function or do i need a separate one on the pack still, if so, can you recommend a couple to look at? Massively appreciate your input. Any fabrication or mechanical modifications required are fine as i have a workshop with lathes, millls, welders etc. Cheers, and thanks for any help you can offer! Nice one! Edit, I see you're using three phase motors, mines a straight dc one, if there's something i can use to make it work with this motor, with a view to upgrading to a nicer, lightweight motor like yours, that would be great, but happy to hear any ideas you have!
I’ve had dual Hobbywing MAX6 ESCs on my Trampa build going strong w 8S (dual 4S Graphene batteries) for over 3yrs, now. So, not sure I agree w you about RC world ESCs.
@@MBoardsco thanks for responding... But again i had a question that i m using single 270kv motor, will is work properly.. and would it be fine if i use dual drive esc for one motor??
Hey, I've just ordered a 10s2p battery from you. If I remember correctly itll be able to output 30A continuously. Does that mean any vesc that can handle 30A+ will be fine or should I be getting those 100A vescs?
Off topic question, I saw a 45 tooth at pulley on your site, what kind of speed upgrade would I be expecting if I jump down from a 60tooth? I'll be placing an order Friday :)
Hello there,I’ve been wondering to buy esc for my off-road electric skateboard I don’t know which one to buy it’s belt motors each is 1650 watt total 3300 watt the battery is 36V 11s ,if you can help me please thanks
Would a VESC be a good choice for a hub motor set up? I just want to upgrade the battery and controller but want to keep a similar speed but have a longer range (apx 20 miles ish).
Ok, ive been thinking about building a electric long board for a while and this seems right up my alley because i used to work on rc cars when i was a kid. I'm just wondering do you have to configure the vesc when you receive it or can you use it as a normal esc and just plug it in and play. I'd like to be able to use it straight out of the box and then later when i have time i might think about diving into the world of customization. Thanks!
You have to program a vesc but if you look it up on tube Mike (the guy in this video) walks you thru it. It's not really all that complicated. Btw I highly recommend a vesc because it'll be a night and day difference in power speed quality ect. Turns a toy into a dangerous fun performance machine!
So I just bought one of your products and I got 10s because that's what I'm going to do in the future but all I have now is 6s and it's not working is it can you program it?
That motor looks a little small for electric skateboard applications. You might want to consider a 5055 or a 6355. The KV of your motor is also pretty high. We recommend a KV rating between 180 and 270. If you do opt to use that motor your best bet would be a Vesc.
MBoards Hey, I have now purchased a scorpion 4035-560kv and a Flipsky fsvesc 50a-240a Max, I plan on using it to replace the old motor and esc in an electric surfboard of which water got into and fried the electronics and rusted them. I may make a video on it once I have the parts and if I manage to repair it, if you have any advice that would be great. Thanks
I have a boosted board dual v1 that still has the original esc but the battery has been cut out. Can someone help me figure out what kind of battery I can use so I don't have to send it to Cali. Thanks in advance
I am no expert. A tech at an RC shop told me that those two styles cannot be charged on the same charger. I’m guessing because the input and discharge rates are different and “can’t” perform the same task at the same time It might cause issues if one battery drops to lower voltage than the other and becomes a drain ending in damage somehow
My brother, love the video! Love you channel subscribed already... I only got myself fully involved and fully embraced esk8for the past 3 months... I has become one my greatest addiction! If I'm not working I'm surfing... I have an Inboard M1 not working having a problem that I've yet to figure out... A DIY kit build, bought it used... good board very torquey 26 mph top speed... I so interested in building on a general level... I understand vesc, battery, controller motor and drivetrain well... I've been studying it! Still I have questions... I'm still a new student to esk8 but I'm very interested, I want to learn more and I learn at the speed of light once I'm totally interested... Do you have a moment?
Hi John, I'm about to start repairing my Inboard M1 as well. As far as I know it just has a broken ESC. Also inboard failed to send my remote back after I sent the board in for warranty so I will be replacing that too(long story). This is just the start of my journey so I'm trying to learn as much as I can before I start purchasing parts. Have you made any progress on your M1 project?

MBoards okay thanks! I was just wondering because the reverse button kinda scares me, I don’t want to accidentally press it while I’m riding and fly off! Does the board have to be stopped in order for the reverse button to put the board in reverse?
@@lukeanthony4586I know this was from five years ago and you probably figured it out by now but usually you wont have any problem with accidentally hitting the reverse, like you asked, you do have to come to almost a complete stop to change it to reverse 👍
Only problem is getting to a stop light/stop sign and going to far then going in reverse a few feet and forgetting to put it back to the forward position, done it like 5 times I laugh at myself everytime😂
how many times am I gonna do it💀💀
How did your build come out?
What esc would work best for a 7s dual belt motor
We always recommend Vescs, but our basic 7s ESCs work well too.
MBoards - Okay thank you I will look into it more!
which do you prefer, flipsky fsesc 4.12 or mini 4.20?? what should i use?
Hey I got your esc from mboards for one belt Motor its the plug n play option but it doesn’t brake at all my motor is from hobby king it’s 2000 watts and 45 amps and 10 s
Can you please help me
If an ESC says its 80a but says its for some other stuff like an RC or an airplane, does it still work? i mean, it's capable of handleing 50a
The esc on the left @01:32, do you happen to know the specs and if yes can you share with us, i happen to have that on a Chinese board and need to know its max power before upgrading anything.
Does the ESC V4.12 50A SK8-ESC reverse the direction of rotation of the motor?
I have an electric long board by Hiboy, and I think the esc went out how do I tell which one to get I know it’s a dual hub one but on Mboards website for that part there is a 10s, 7s, and 6s option.
I don't see VESC from your website. Do you plan to sell them in the near future? Can you video on programming a vesc?
We’ve had VESCs for quite some time 😎
www.mboards.co/collections/escs/products/bldc-esc-4-12
And yes an updated tutorial needs to be made ASAP!
@@@MBoardsco My bad. I am a newbie at this. I thought ESC are not programmable and VESC are.
How are your esc rated at 50a when the highest one that looks exactly like yours is rated at 12 or 16a with peak of 50A
Great video! Could you also do one just on remotes ?
Thanks for the idea! We’d love to do an in-depth video about remotes. We’ll add it to our list 👍🏻
What is math For long range ... And also for Speed .. and what battery pack should be needed to make a long range board
Nice one!
Edit,
I see you're using three phase motors, mines a straight dc one, if there's something i can use to make it work with this motor, with a view to upgrading to a nicer, lightweight motor like yours, that would be great, but happy to hear any ideas you have!
I’ve had dual Hobbywing MAX6 ESCs on my Trampa build going strong w 8S (dual 4S Graphene batteries) for over 3yrs, now. So, not sure I agree w you about RC world ESCs.
Can I use a dual belt motor esc for a single motor? I was planning to upgrade down to road but not yet.
but he doesn't have a beard
Hahaha
getting a VESC is like steppin in the matrix ,want to see how far the rabbit hole goes?
I have 36v motor what esc I need? ThNks
You’ll want to use a 10s battery and 10s ESC along side of your Motor 👍🏻
Great video Mike!
Thanks man!
I can produce 2200w with 4s 5000mah and 120 amp ESC .
can i use a lower mileage battery on a hobbwing esc? and kokoa hub dual motor?
My esc is the cheaper version but I do not know how to pair the remote to it ? Please help
do esc need a receiver??? Im building a dual hub board motor
i have Direct Drive motors.
which ESC to buy from your site? i dont need any fancy like VESC.
You’ll want to go with the Hobbywing ESC 👍🏻
making you walk both ways, back and forth.
I wanted to know, which esc would be most optimal for 5065 270kv bldc .. actually looking for budget friendly
The most budget friendly would be the dual belt driven ESC.
@@MBoardsco thanks for responding... But again i had a question that i m using single 270kv motor, will is work properly.. and would it be fine if i use dual drive esc for one motor??
@@MBoardsco and also battery pack is of 6s3p configuration... For a good range... Will it be fine to propel 270kv Motor on flat roads?
MBoards would 2 6355 180 work?
could you help me with a build?
Absolutely! DM us on Instagram! @mboardsco
Hey, I've just ordered a 10s2p battery from you. If I remember correctly itll be able to output 30A continuously. Does that mean any vesc that can handle 30A+ will be fine or should I be getting those 100A vescs?
Yes any Vesc that can handle 30+ amps will be fine 👍🏻
Can i use 24v esc to run 2 3s batteries connected in series?
Off topic question, I saw a 45 tooth at pulley on your site, what kind of speed upgrade would I be expecting if I jump down from a 60tooth? I'll be placing an order Friday :)
We like to use this calculator:
calc.esk8.it
It helps you get a good idea of top speed with different gearing ratios.
Hello there,I’ve been wondering to buy esc for my off-road electric skateboard I don’t know which one to buy it’s belt motors each is 1650 watt total 3300 watt the battery is 36V 11s ,if you can help me please thanks
I would suggest a pair of Vescs. That way you take advantage of the full power of your motors.
Would a VESC be a good choice for a hub motor set up? I just want to upgrade the battery and controller but want to keep a similar speed but have a longer range (apx 20 miles ish).
Yes Vescs work great with Hub motors 👍🏻
I have an eglide and want to change to wireless controller any advice
How to link 2 esc's together
So I just bought one of your products and I got 10s because that's what I'm going to do in the future but all I have now is 6s and it's not working is it can you program it?
Unfortunately the basic ESCs aren’t programmable. You’ll want to upgrade your set up to 10s as soon as you can.
Does that dual ESC have LiPo cutoff or only lithium-ion cut off. I want to use 10s lipos or maybe 6s lipos?
Lipo and liion have the same cut off. you can use lipo
Could someone please advise on what controller would be best for a scorpion 4225-550kv? Thanks
Thanks
Can someone link me to a plug n play Single BL motor VESC for use with a 10s Lipo? I have looked and just cannot find one.
Chuck Norris look at his website
I have a boosted board dual v1 that still has the original esc but the battery has been cut out. Can someone help me figure out what kind of battery I can use so I don't have to send it to Cali. Thanks in advance
Thanks for the help 👍🏼
Can you choose any ESC for a Electric longboard as long as it has enough Amphere?
i dropped my remote
noooo 😭
Hey very informative videos! I simply want to buy one for my son, already made by you. Is this possible?
Shoot us an email, we might be able to help:
support@mboards.co
If i'm using 2 separate ESCs how do i control them with 1 remote?
You will need to purchase a “bus connector “ to connect both esc’s into one.
Ian I use the same ESC with LIPO an LI-ION batteries ? or are different ESCs needed?
I am no expert.
A tech at an RC shop told me that those two styles cannot be charged on the same charger.
I’m guessing because the input and discharge rates are different and “can’t” perform the same task at the same time
It might cause issues if one battery drops to lower voltage than the other and becomes a drain ending in damage somehow
