Love my 2004 tdi, same issue. One of many, which I've been told are common. Would that explain rear nearside wheel arch bubbling up with rust ? Great vid👍
Could well be the reason for the rust. Yes there is quite a few common issues most I have made videos for on the channel.

Think my battery problems are fixed, 12.6v after sitting for two weeks and only took an hour to top up.
I would paint the mirror and loose the tape holding it on.
What was the issue causing your battery drain?
To be fair she needs a whole new mirror 😀

Get a multi meter on the wiring plug see if you're getting any power to the motor.
