I was raised in a God fearing home, went to bible college. I struggle with alcohol and to this day i cant shake the addiction. My wife and daughter are suffering because of it and i cry when im alone because i am soo ashamed of what im going through. Christian metal to me is my King yelling to me, speaking to me over the distractions of the world that i have allowed to take root in my heart. I love christian metal and when im seeking Him, all i want to do is yell at the distractions of this world and cry out to Him to save me from myself. God is good, failure is not final when He has set before me life and life abundantly.
Hey Karl. It’s been a minute since you posted this, but I’ve just seen it today. I wanted to let you know you’re not at all alone. As men, one of our great stumbling blocks is the illusion that we are not men if we cannot handle our problems on our own. For this reason, you may or may not know the extent to which there are men EVERYWHERE who struggle silently. All of that, to let you know that you’re not alone. I know from personal experience the effect addiction has on a family. For thirteen years, I fought with the addition to porn. What many do not understand is that this addiction is classified by the FDA as a legitimate narcotic , and (naturally) affects the brain in the same way. By the sheer and undeniable Grace of God, I was able to find accountability with my pastor and have since been clean going on six years. I don’t know what you have tried and I know God may choose to use different tools for different people, but I wanted to be able to encourage you by letting you know that for many of those 13 years I felt hopeless. I felt like God refused to answer my prayers to just take away the addiction. The truth of the matter was I was not willing to listen to the answer God had for me. God has not forgotten you and He WILL carry you and yours through this temporary storm. Much Love Brother! God Bless and Keep You!
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the [a]earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled." Matthew 5:3-6
I drank too. I never thought I would be away from drinking. HE loves us, ABBA, SWEET ELOHIM, HE will not leave us orphaned or leave us to stay as spiritual hostages to this glue trap host. HE loves us. Just keep praying for HIM to literally jerk it from you because you cant do it. Keep begging, HE hears! Our loving FATHER, will not leave us. Even if you struggle for the rest of your days and never quit, HE still loves you and will hear you.
I had the same problem. I begged ABBA, our FATHER to jerk it from me, I can't quit, grab me by the hair and drag me. I got pancreatitis after and lost around 1/3 of my pancreas. Then HE stopped the damage like freezing it in place. I quit. To this day I would have stumbled back into that addiction, but medically I CAN'T drink. That is the most pain I have EVER been in. So now if I didn't have that blessed thorn I would go back to drinking. GOD bless you! I know your pain, your torture. I know that filthy curse. Keep seeking HIM.
“What kind of love is this, friends? What kind of love is that is so big, so without bounds, that He would come, He would want, He would want to do so much to rescue people who wanted nothing to do with Him? Who fought Him even when He came to cleave us from hell? What kind of love is it that sees us in our filth, comes to rescue us, sees us resist that rescue, but continues to rescue us anyway? What foolishness is this? That He would come offer us rescue and we would say, “No!” Why? What are we gaining by our resistance? Oh, how glorious He is, that He saw you like that and didn’t give up!”..... woah
A very, very good philosophy every Christian should look up is Kert Hovind's Creation Seminar. 100% recommend it. It will further strengthen your faith brother.
Jesus Christ is here if we really try to have a relationship with him. It amazes my soul to have so much research on this subject and still was never led away from him!! He is truth and love!! He is risen!! God bless you all that read this.
Oh now my son, here is a company of miserable souls Cold and undone, searing their conscience with hearts black as coals Here now they lie objects of justice, deserving of wrath Speak your reply, what shall be done for them? Draw out your path No one can contain the power and depths of my abundant love Father, I say, such is my love and my pity for all There is a way for no condemnation on men to befall Whoa, such is my love and pity for all No man can pay, I'll make a way No man can pay; utterly broke and poor to settle their debt Though all've gone their way, I'll yield a way for their sins to forget Bring in all their sins Lay it all on me Bring in all their sins Every last bill that they owe Lay it all on me For what they reap I will sow The place these souls have found themselves is one of great distress For even all their righteousness is just a filthy mess O my son, you must understand that if I show mercy You must reckon to pay, the last bit of my rage For justice reigns upon this throne; perfection without flaw How can the wicked find their peace and still have broken every law? Let it be so, charge it on me For I can bear the weight of sin so all would be free Bring in all their sins Every last bill that they owe Lay it all on me For what they reap I will sow Blush oOman, let shame hide your face For one of infinite worth has left his throne for his death Which proves for our salvation, oh people hear my cries With all our lusts and all our lies, when the truths come face to face Did we earn such love and grace? No we haven't earned a thing, and there is nothing we can bring To settle this age old rift and receive this perfect gift If only you knew of the grace and love that our God has for all You'd turn and look into the face of Jesus the Savior, who calls Oh people, hear my cries, with all our lusts and all our lies When the truths come face to face, did we earn such love and grace? Oh we couldn't earn a thing, and there is nothing we can bring So receive this love and grace, believe his love and grace!
I usually don't listen to this kind of music (TobyMac, Skillet and Thousand Foot Krutch are my usuals), but these lyrics were totally God inspired. This song is the most beautiful thing I've heard in a long time.
+Kelsey Magana There's an acoustic version if it's more to your taste! And yes this band's transparency and God-inspired lyrics are trully something that has captivated me! :)
I've heard the acoustic version as well, and while I still really like it, there's something about this version that is MUCH more powerful to me! :) But thanks for the info!
Have you listened to the entire album Captors? It was the first CD I got from them, and the first time I'd heard them. Every song on that album is amazing.
I love this band! Wolves at the Gate is truly inspirational! Even though people say that "Metal bands can't be Chrisitian". This band truly gives the message of Christ and Salvation and the Cross in a way that even the "worship bands" don't. I love the fact that watg always uses literal Scripture passages to make their songs. They are amazing in the lyrics without compromising great sound
I think there is one problem with this band : it's maybe a little bit too hard and people who isn't strong in faith can be derouted, but their lyrics are just amazing !! I have one thing to say : Praise God and the Son, our King for the eternity !
Freaking amen!!!!!! I hate it when people say that Metal can't be Christian (97% of my church) when they hear songs like this and I am sitting there like dude? What the heck it's right in front of you!
Yeah the whole metal bands can't be Christian is an old and dead argument. I'd go to Youth Conventions, as a youth, and at the Christian Music merch booth, they couldn't keep the Living Sacrifice tapes on the table. Kids ate up the metal back in the day. And these days too, it seems.
The balance of unclean vocals and clean vocals, the transitions between them, the lyrics...I've never seen anything like it before but I do must say i LOVE IT
Man, coming back to this years after listening to it, I can say one thing: This seriously is what christian music should be. The lyrics are simply unbeatable.
What kind of love is it that sees us in our filth, comes to rescue us, sees us resist that rescue, but continues to rescue us anyway? What foolishness is this? [...] Oh how glorious He is that He saw you like that and didn't give up. ~Anthony Zurlo
As being someone who isn't strong in faith as many others, I absolutely love this song and appreciate those who are strong in their faith. It is incredible what someone's passion can do for them like this band.
Why is the intro here different than the one on the record? The intro on the record (which I have memorized word-for-word because it's so great) goes: "He doesn't go to the cross blindly. He doesn't get on that cross and say, 'No, Father, I don't want to do this; I didn't know it would cost so much!' He knew from eternity how much it would cost Him and yet, He still did it. If His love is like that, if He has set me free completely, I'm His. He says, 'Such is My love to and pity for them that, rather than they shall perish eternally, I will be responsible for them as their guarantee. Bring in all Thy bills, Father, that I may see what they owe Thee.'"
Tears, ugly blubbering tears in undone worship to the champion at the cross, the lover of our souls, the great God and king of our hearts. I love you Jesus!
I love how most Christian metal bands are more Christian than some of the mainstream Christian musicians. Ive always believed God can work with anything. Christian metal just proves that.
I read the lyrics and broke down and felt undying shame for being a part of that company of miserable souls. My righteousness is a filthy mess. I rejoice in the salvation that Jesus has given me and in the love that he has given me, but rejoice doesn’t mean be happy and don’t think about why he had to die for us. We are after all the ones who nailed him to the cross.
This really encapsulates the decision Jesus had to make to die for us. We couldn't offer Him anything, but He still chose to die...Thank you WATG!!!! May God continue to use you to bless and draw people to Him!!
Wrong. Hip hop is the issue. Metal is always underground. Barely any views. Nothing is wrong with Metal if you do your research. Metalcore is 90% no problem. Compared to hip hop where they yell about shooting, taking their whores, money sex drugs. Yeahhhh so much better than screaming right? Didn't Jesus say to SHOUT CRY OUT FOR MY HELP? Hmmm.
"you must reckon to pay the last bit of my rage. For justice reigns upon this throne, perfection without flaw! How can the wicked find their peace and still have broken every law?" 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Something sounded so familiar about this song, then I remembered this was the song they shared a live guitar clip from a while back that got me incredibly stoked for this album. What an amazing piece of artistry.
I too need to be rescued from my filth and resist the rescue and still our all loving Father and God doesn't give up on me... Or you. Good is our strength.
I love this song and this band's heart for God and the lost. Both were very plain throughout this entire album and it's what I love about this band!!!!
I woke up at 555 and for some reason wolves at the gate were on my mind. Been going through some hard stuff, and I havnt listened to them since the cure in 2017. And I found this song. It's absolutely amazing
First time I have seen this many thumbs up and no down. Great message you guys are giving and great music I can try to learn on drums lol loving it! Don't ever give up on this band. It helps people like myself and others find and hold onto faith.
Blush o man let shame hide your face for one of infinite worth has left his throne for his death witch proves our salvation... that hit me hard fantastic lyrics
Blessings, there is something that we constantly do without realizing it and it is wanting to solve things based on emotions, and in this way we cannot build the house on the rock. satan is an expert in filling our lives with emotions even using the Word of God just as he tried against Jesus Christ. Truly Christian metal is very good but we cannot just take strength from there, the true strength comes from the Father through Christ and his Holy Spirit, and it is through CONSTANT AND CORRECT prayer, we can listen to Christian music, even read the Word of God but if we don't pray we don't get to have the true connection.
Don't know how old your comment here is man because I'm on mobile and it doesn't show dates (-_-) but here is a piece from an interview with Steve that I copied directly: (He's actually speaking about the opening track, VxV) "There were two different preachers in that first clip. The first voice that comes on is a preacher that is a friend of mine whose name is Anthony Zurlo. He’s a wonderful man who loves the Lord. I’ve been so impressed by his preaching. He’s just somebody who has a very clear understanding of what the gospel is and is very good at communicating the gospel. I’d listened to his sermons quite a bit and I heard something in a sermon that he said that was a clear representation of what the gospel was so I wanted that in there. And the other clip is John Piper. His clip was from a sermon where John the Baptist is declaring that Jesus is the lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. I felt that sermon best explained what we wanted to communicate to people. Those are the only two preachers that you’ll hear on the record."
From puritan John Flavel. It's called The Father's Bargain. Paul Washer used it in his sermon called the gospel of propitiation I believe. Oh how deep is the love of our Creator toward us.....that we might be called sons of God and not children of wrath. God bless. In Christ. Travis.
This song is rad. I will always love it! For those who can stomach some constructive criticism, I have an issue. For all their power, the lyrics do seem to paint the picture of a Father in the place of a neutral judge, who presented the situation to Jesus the Son, who then volunteered himself to pay man's penalty of his own accord. The bible--and Jesus, himself--make it crystal clear that salvation was God's plan all along--Father, Son, Spirit, three in one. It was never plan B, or a creative solution from a mutual company owner who saw the way the wind was blowing. Jesus only ever did what the Father commanded him. Jesus said no man took his life, but he gave it freely. And no man can come to the Father, but that the Spirit draws him. All in concert. Always, from all eternity. The Father was thinking of you before you were even born (Ephesians 1:3-12). So: take the power, resolve and love expressed in these lyrics, and apply them to the literal biblical truth: God provided his own sacrifice to satisfy justice and love, together, in the person of Christ, and raised him by the power of his Spirit, so death would be swallowed up in victory, and you could walk in newness of life and union with him forever! Amen. :)
If you listen to Steve discuss the lyrics of this song, they're based on John Flavel's "The Father's Bargain." From what I can gather, Steve's theology is quite reformed, almost Calvinist, so the deterministic language probably isn't problematic for him anyway.
"What kind of love is this; so big, so without bounds, that He would come. He would want, He would WANT to do so much to rescue people... who wanted nothing to do with Him. Who fought Him, even when He came to keep us from hell, of all things. What kind of love is it, that sees us, in our filth, comes to rescue us, sees us resist that rescue, but continues to rescue us anyway? What foolishness is this? That He would come over to rescue and we would say 'No!'... Why... What are we gaining by our resistance? Oh how glorious He is, that He saw you like that, and didn't give up."

Katie Butler YES
thats awesome!!
The utter truth of the gospel summed up perfectly! Praise be to Christ our most high!!
Those are powerful, God-glorifying words.
this song is great.. i mean huge; groundbreaking. i read the lyrics as it played and was reduced to tears. I love you Jesus
Look up a man called John Flavel, his writings is the main influence behind this song

My too family
@@davidsciranko5713 Brother Hovind still posts on youtube weekly, sometimes multiple videos per week. I enjoy whack an athiest Wednesday.
This intro almost made me cry. I hear this message all the time, but I always feel like crying, BECAUSE IT'S SO TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you know who is the preacher who speaks?
Just read somewhere that it's John piper
Oh now my son, here is a company of miserable souls
Cold and undone, searing their conscience with hearts black as coals
Here now they lie objects of justice, deserving of wrath
Speak your reply, what shall be done for them? Draw out your path
No one can contain the power and depths of my abundant love
Father, I say, such is my love and my pity for all
There is a way for no condemnation on men to befall
Whoa, such is my love and pity for all
No man can pay, I'll make a way
No man can pay; utterly broke and poor to settle their debt
Though all've gone their way, I'll yield a way for their sins to forget
Bring in all their sins
Lay it all on me
Bring in all their sins
Every last bill that they owe
Lay it all on me
For what they reap I will sow
The place these souls have found themselves is one of great distress
For even all their righteousness is just a filthy mess
O my son, you must understand that if I show mercy
You must reckon to pay, the last bit of my rage
For justice reigns upon this throne; perfection without flaw
How can the wicked find their peace and still have broken every law?
Let it be so, charge it on me
For I can bear the weight of sin so all would be free
Bring in all their sins
Every last bill that they owe
Lay it all on me
For what they reap I will sow
Blush oOman, let shame hide your face
For one of infinite worth has left his throne for his death
Which proves for our salvation, oh people hear my cries
With all our lusts and all our lies, when the truths come face to face
Did we earn such love and grace?
No we haven't earned a thing, and there is nothing we can bring
To settle this age old rift and receive this perfect gift
If only you knew of the grace and love that our God has for all
You'd turn and look into the face of Jesus the Savior, who calls
Oh people, hear my cries, with all our lusts and all our lies
When the truths come face to face, did we earn such love and grace?
Oh we couldn't earn a thing, and there is nothing we can bring
So receive this love and grace, believe his love and grace!
How can one be so metal and worship our Father!! Love it
Definitely check out August Burns Red if you haven’t. Another great band, my 2nd favorite after Gojira
I usually don't listen to this kind of music (TobyMac, Skillet and Thousand Foot Krutch are my usuals), but these lyrics were totally God inspired. This song is the most beautiful thing I've heard in a long time.

I agree so much. Ever heard the EP version? It's wonderful.
Oh nvm, I just saw your above replies. XD
Have you listened to the entire album Captors? It was the first CD I got from them, and the first time I'd heard them. Every song on that album is amazing.
"objects of justice, deserving of wrath"
I was just reading Ephesians 2 this morning. Glad to hear it in this song!
I love this band! Wolves at the Gate is truly inspirational! Even though people say that "Metal bands can't be Chrisitian". Agree whole heartedly my friend. Metal bands are more Christian than the worship bands most times.
I think there is one problem with this band : it's maybe a little bit too hard and people who isn't strong in faith can be derouted, but their lyrics are just amazing !!
I have one thing to say : Praise God and the Son, our King for the eternity !

Enter Name tbh I wasn’t strong in faith when I was recommended Wolves At The Gate and they have brought me even closer in my relationship with God :)
The balance of unclean vocals and clean vocals, the transitions between them, the lyrics...I've never seen anything like it before but I do must say i LOVE IT
I've never seen vocals either.
LMAO sorry bro, had to pick the low hanging fruit.

As being someone who isn't strong in faith as many others, I absolutely love this song and appreciate those who are strong in their faith. It is incredible what someone's passion can do for them like this band.
This song helped rekindle the spiritual fire within me to write metal music completely focused on jesus and his love thanks guys for being different
They are like the first band ever where i like all of their songs.
Because it's songs made to lead people to the Father ? (maybe a little bit too hard but very good lyrics)
He says, 'Such is My love to and pity for them that, rather than they shall perish eternally, I will be responsible for them as their guarantee. Bring in all Thy bills, Father, that I may see what they owe Thee.'"
AHHHHHHHH
No words to express but this is amazing. I LOVE YOU JESUS
Tears, ugly blubbering tears in undone worship to the champion at the cross, the lover of our souls, the great God and king of our hearts. I love you Jesus!
the best song of album
I love how most Christian metal bands are more Christian than some of the mainstream Christian musicians. Ive always believed God can work with anything. Christian metal just proves that.
NOOOO... I don't want this to be the last song... MORE!!!
Such a great album, and an even better band.
Awesome.
GODS TIMING IS PERFECT! HE SEND US MESSAGES LIKE THIS TO GIVE US STRENGTH DURING TIMES LIKE THESE. 🙏 GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
Oh How I Love The Gospel! Thank you Lord for saving lost souls
Ohh!!! How glorious He is! I'm not worthy of such greatest love, but Jesus made me free and didn't give up on me.
This song is like an epic...between the Father and the Son and it is absolutely perfect.
This really encapsulates the decision Jesus had to make to die for us. We couldn't offer Him anything, but He still chose to die...Thank you WATG!!!! May God continue to use you to bless and draw people to Him!!
+V5 Jhan right? We are not the wolves at the gate, but the ones who face them.
+underwaterglass93 S And ?
What a fantastic song, JESUS REIGNS.
man show this song to those who say metal is satanic/demonic... ridiculous, this song is such a great way to share the gospel
Hmmm.
Blessed music right here
Yes, I hope so !
"you must reckon to pay the last bit of my rage. For justice reigns upon this throne, perfection without flaw! How can the wicked find their peace and still have broken every law?"
🔥🔥🔥🔥
While the album as a whole is pretty great, The Bird and The Snake and The Father's Bargain touched me the most. Definitely my favorites~
top 10 best song ever written, ever.
Something sounded so familiar about this song, then I remembered this was the song they shared a live guitar clip from a while back that got me incredibly stoked for this album. What an amazing piece of artistry.
These lyrics are so powerful!
I too need to be rescued from my filth and resist the rescue and still our all loving Father and God doesn't give up on me... Or you. Good is our strength.
Wow, people really be asleep on WATG...this is amazing work. I really enjoy hearing songs directly from the perspective of Jesus/God.
I love this song and this band's heart for God and the lost. Both were very plain throughout this entire album and it's what I love about this band!!!!
Pray every morning ❤
I woke up at 555 and for some reason wolves at the gate were on my mind. Been going through some hard stuff, and I havnt listened to them since the cure in 2017. And I found this song. It's absolutely amazing
wow, i'm impressed, i never heard this band before, i could get used to their style in a heartbeat!
the sound of blood falling at around 4:30.... wow, like God's Son's blood pouring out for us... Beautifully done.
This guy's voice
is so
I like that they have strings on the album!
My favourite song. Such amazing lyrics
This comes from the puritan writer John Flavel. He originally wrote The Fathers Bargain. Pretty good stuff.
//Bring in all their sins. Every last bill that they owe.
Lay it all on me. For what they reap I will sow//
FOR OUR GOD IS THE TRUE GOD!!! AMEN
First time I have seen this many thumbs up and no down. Great message you guys are giving and great music I can try to learn on drums lol loving it! Don't ever give up on this band. It helps people like myself and others find and hold onto faith.
Amazing! Such powerful lyrics. Can't believe I've never heard of this song before.
The lyrics are so powerful and full of the gospel 😭😭
Love his voice, sounds amazing
This is such a rad song! AMAZING LOVE, HOW CAN IT BE THAT THOU MY GOD WOULD DIE FOR ME!
I still remember when I first heard This song..It introduced me to this awesome band :,)
Well.......this albums is just.......just........wow
These may have been some of the best lyrics I have ever read for a song... wow
sadly, the theology is wrong. (penal substitution), so it kinda ruins it.
@drooskie9525 you don't think Chritst willingly went to the cross to die and take our sins?
God's Band
amazing band
Pray is the solution ❤
i adore this band, God bless!
Blush o man let shame hide your face for one of infinite worth has left his throne for his death witch proves our salvation... that hit me hard fantastic lyrics
Strong song!
Amazing
Thank you JESUS
Love how it starts so softly then AAAHHH!!!! Lol :D
I love the picture this song paints that justice demands payment for the rage of God and Jesus standing up to him with this bargain for humanity.
A song of victory.
Crums Above that's a good song!!
NO MAN CAN PAY I'LL MAKE AWAY! 🖤
Wow this is great

Blessings, there is something that we constantly do without realizing it and it is wanting to solve things based on emotions, and in this way we cannot build the house on the rock. satan is an expert in filling our lives with emotions even using the Word of God just as he tried against Jesus Christ. Truly Christian metal is very good but we cannot just take strength from there, the true strength comes from the Father through Christ and his Holy Spirit, and it is through CONSTANT AND CORRECT prayer, we can listen to Christian music, even read the Word of God but if we don't pray we don't get to have the true connection.
God bless and save you
masterpiece
I knew it'd pick up at some point.
God bless
God bless heal and save you
Why is the intro different on the album album bought?
Does anyone knows where they took the intro part from? I love that speech so much. Is it from a movie or something?
Its from a sermon by Paul washer a well known pastor, they use him and also John piper on other parts of the album...
Jacob Heaton are you sure? it does't sound like Paul to me.
Don't know how old your comment here is man because I'm on mobile and it doesn't show dates (-_-) but here is a piece from an interview with Steve that I copied directly: (He's actually speaking about the opening track, VxV)
"There were two different preachers in that first clip.
🔥🔥🔥
I run back and forth I am broken at the Cross
Can someone put up the iTunes version of this song? I don't know why but I like the intro on that one better
Holy....shit....good song
Anyone know where i can get the full message that this intro was a excerpt from?
"What kind of love is this; so big, so without bounds, that He would come. He would want, He would WANT to do so much to rescue people... who wanted nothing to do with Him. Who fought Him, even when He came to keep us from hell, of all things. What kind of love is it, that sees us, in our filth, comes to rescue us, sees us resist that rescue, but continues to rescue us anyway? What foolishness is this? That He would come over to rescue and we would say 'No!'... Why... What are we gaining by our resistance? Oh how glorious He is, that He saw you like that, and didn't give up."
I'm looking for it too!!
Quite possibly my favorite WaTG track.
