    • @NorthernKitty
      @NorthernKitty Місяць тому +16

      This is due to CAFE (fuel economy) standards. There is a formula that determines minimum fuel mileage based on wheelbase and track of a truck. Manufacturers have to pay a penalty to build small trucks if they don't meet the minimum fuel economy based on the footprint of the truck. This is why the Ford Maverick has a base hybrid model: so that it can achieve that mileage but just barely. The irony is, it's easier for bigger trucks that use more gas to meet the standard, which results in less fuel efficient trucks on the highway, completely the opposite of what the CAFE standard was designed to achieve.

    1.) Manual Transmission, Non Turbo engines
    2.) Manual crank roll windows
    3.) Basic interior. I mean really basic
    4.) Minimal instrumentation gauges. but allow aftermarket add-ons by providing a second OBDII port for Electronic touch screen+
    5.) Make it easy for the aftermarket industry to cater to those who want to spend the money to change their vehicle, by using easy non-proprietary bolt-on connectors.

    Smaller trucks aren't "the new hip thing," the price for these small trucks are what got people's attention. Large trucks costing upwards of $60k for the base models is ridiculous, and that's why people are wanting the smaller ones. Not because of the size, because of the price.

Both still running and solid, oil changes, maintenance, etc. I swore I would never buy another GM anything unless it was used, but I bought a Toyota Tundra instead . It would be cheaper to buy that mini chinese f150 for $2,000.00 chinese electric golfcart truck.
    Then add a honda generator 10,000 watt.
    Honestly, that mini chinese electric golf cart truck. Just yank out the transmission and electric motor and insytall a hydraulic system to power the factory transmission for higher torque and highway speeds 120 mph.
